2006 Toyota Corolla consumer reviews

I bought the 2006 Corolla S model used with about 25,000 miles on it. I was impressed with the torque in the manual transmission. This is a great car overall; plenty of room, plenty of power, and comfortable. I did had trouble mastering the clutch, I guess because I had always driven GM vehicles before (I've never owned an automatic). I like all of the little compartments where you can store things. The problem is that there are a few little things that take some getting used to: 1) the hazard lights button is the same shape and just above the AC button, so you could hit it accidentally 2) the driver-side sun visor hits the rear-view mirror when you pull it down 3) the windshield wiper control works like a blinker, so it gets bumped a lot and is embarrassing 4) the pedals are too close together 5) you cannot turn off the headlights at all, ever, unless you kill the ignition 6) the AC vents are placed directly behind the steering wheel, so you cannot point them anywhere but directly on your hands (if you hold the wheel at 10 and 2) 7) if the passenger seat thinks there is someone not buckled up (ie. a case of beer) the ding ding becomes obnoxious, but it will stop eventually. But, like I said, great car overall.

I bought it Brand New from Dealer. I've put in over 160000 miles and nothing went wrong with this car. No problem with Engine or Transmission. I love the Exterior and Interior. This is the best car i have ever own. I've had Honda civic and accord but they give me a lot of Transmission problem and expensive to repair. My accord had 21k miles and transmission is DEAD. Where is Honda Quality and Reliability???? I will never buy another Honda..

I bought my car used, and within a week, the ECM started kicking up a fuss. Took it to Toyota to have it replaced for free under warranty and it drives all smooth again. It's my first car, and I love driving it around. I got it for an amazing price and it's totally worth the money.

I recently bought a 2006 Toyota Corolla S at a Toyota Dealership through the Toyota Certified Program. Well let me tell you DON'T EVER DO THAT!!! I bought my car for $14,500 and the brand new 2010 ones cost only a couple thousand dollars more! Toyota tries selling their used cars like if they were brand new---they're not!!! In any case it's a great car...it runs well and very efficient. I love the exterior look of the new ones, but I wish I would have never purchased a used one. Oh and the steering is a little odd, but other than that GREAT CAR!!!

I have gone to Cincinnati from Stafford, VA and still 1/6 of a tank left over. This a great traveling vehicle, but not much room for packing. If you purchase this vechicle be sure to pack light.

So, tell me, where did Toyota go wrong? This household had quite a few cars, three of them Toyotas. The 1993 Camry, long gone, had a quiet ride and engine built both for quietness and hustling; sports car it was not, but it was nice. 2002 Camry, which we still have, grows a little long on the tooth, but still is all right, with rather comfortable ride. 2006 Camry? Simply terrific, accelerates quickly for its bulkiness, and while I hated its handling, it is my favorite for highway cruising. Now, my home has a new Toyota--a Corolla LE. Let me say it bluntly: I do not like it. The ride is all right, but it dampens as much noise as my old 1997 Sentra, and the engine actually seems to hustle less than Sentra's (despite it having some 20 extra horsepowers). The car creaks while cruising, both on smooth and rough roads; as I bought the car at some 25,000 miles on the odometer, it is simply unthinkable in a Toyota. The Sentra did not develop creaks until it had 100K on the odo; both of the Camrys have yet to develop them. The engine, with a bit rough idling and cruising feel and simply thrashing above 3000 rpm, did not help with this. For such an upscale model, dogdish (albeith with hubcaps) wheels are simply laughable. CD player is just that--a CD player; no MP3 or aux port features. The only "luxury" found on the LE model is the fake wood trim, which I could do without. Dashboard is hard plastic, a throwback to early econoboxes. I was surprised by the handling, though. It was surprisingly decent, although the cheap-looking and awkwardly-feeling steering wheel left much to be desired. Breaking was all right. Yeah, it was all right--it had ABS, nothing fancy. For a Toyota, and for such a late model, I had expected better. Sure, it was a compact sedan, but if bought new, it went upwards of 16k; that is not a small money. Overall, a disappointing purchase.

PURCHASED NEW. HAVE OVER 55000 MILES, HAS BEEN VERY RELIABLE , THE COMPUTER HAD TO BE REPLACED BUT OTHER THAN THAT HAS BEEN VERY GOOD

It does all what it should do. with the minimum cost & the maximum reliability. If you like sport & muscles cars you wont appreciate the reserved design of the corolla, and the normal power, otherwise it could make you love it with the perfect quality & reliability. I bought my corolla new in 2006 after owning a Geo Prism for 13 years. I love the Corolla, although there is nothing fancy about it. The neatest feature (other than great milage) is the 6 cd changer right in the dash. I have had no problems with it and no complaints. I would purchase another one in a minute.

This car is a true sleeper. It is a wolf in sheeps clothing. It is incredibly FUN to drive. The build quality is among the best and it lives up to Toyota's superior reputation for quality. You will not be disappointed with this one!
