VERY Reliable Car

My Toyota Corolla is a pleasure to drive, and anyone who's borrowed it has agreed. In two years, I've never had to take it to the shop for anything other than regular oil changes. It's very efficient and quiet, too. Only a few small flaws. My husband is tall and finds it a little cramped for him. It also has very low clearance off the ground, making it impractical in deep snow (which my previous car, a Chevy, could just eat up). Also, the back seats do fold down to make the trunk bigger, but they don't fold down flat enough to really take advantage of this feature. Other than that, though, this is a great car and I love to drive it!

good car

I more or less bought this car because I had to. I was in the middle of a move cross country. The vehicle I owned was totaled. I needed a car to complete the move. I had neither the time, money, or inclination to go shopping for a new car or fuss around with a car loan. The corolla was available. The dealership was within walking distance to my previous home. And the price was right after the insurance company gave me the check for my totaled vehicle. In the past I owned large, luxury cars. However, I must admit this is a good little car. All the criticisms I read about the corolla I agree with. The steering has little feeling. The car squeaks and rattles. The interior looks cheap etc. . In spite of this, I like this car. It is reliable as heck, and it gets excellent gas mileage. It looks o.k. too. I think the car is a good value for the money. I have owned it now for 2 1/2 years. . After I got settled in my new home I was going to trade it in for a larger car. Instead I decided to put larger rims and tires on it to improve the ride. I also put simulated wood in the interior to make the car more palatable to me. Some day I will probably trade up because I prefer more room and luxury. But for now I am content with my corolla. The morale of the story for me is that if one prefers a large, luxury car then the corolla is not for you. But for $14,000 I think it is a good if not great car.

Great Car

Have owned XLE model for 10 months. Replaced a 97 Camry, which was an outstanding car, so it had some big shoes to fill. Car is quiet, solid, and handles well. Fuel economy is about the same as the old Camry, 26-28 in mixed town/freeway driving, and 34 straight highway, which is good, but I thought it might be a smidge better, since it's lighter and has a smaller engine. Have had no problems with it, completely reliable. I like the styling, exterior and interior. Seats are comfortable for long trips. Gauges and controls are simple and easy to use. Especially like the optional automatic climate control, with thermostat temperature setting. Only complaints are location of clock, which is too low for easy viewing, and ride can get a little choppy over washboard roads. Otherwise, great car.

Reliable, nice to look at and great MPG

It maintains great MPG even with a full load. The higher MPG model cars just can't offer the passenger/cargo capacity to price to mpg ratio that is needed in a realistic minded small family or couple's budget. Reliable for the last two years we have owned ours. For the price, one can not beat the reliability and mpg.

This car saved my life

Most would see this and see hyperbole, but I'm not joking. I was in the driver's seat when another car T-boned me travelling at least 60 miles an hour. I flipped at least once. My door was destroyed, and the car was totalled. I walked away with a broken collarbone. This car was sturdy enough to take a significant hit that should have done significant neck/back damage. The side air bags cushioned my head and protected me from the broken glass that was my driver's side window. I escaped with relatively minor injuries due to a well built machine that took a massive hit. My gas mileage was superb, and the value I got back on the car was enough to replace it with a midsize Dodge (since I wanted to get a bigger car after my girlfriend got a subcompact). If you like the size, get this car. Spend a little extra if needed. It may just save your life.

almost perfect

after 2 years of daily driving, i get 33mpg combined. rides and handles well. good acceleration, comfortable seating, no rattles, no breakdowns. i bought a second used 2010 corolla for my son to commute to college in after the 1999 he was driving was passed down to his younger sibling. i test drove ALOT of other vehicles for both choices and kept going back to the corolla. my only complaint is... i wish the dash, doors and center arm rest had less hard plastic
