Most comfortable reliable car Ive ever owned

I have had my Prius V for alittle over a month now and have truly enjoyed it. It is Quiet and has far more extras than I will ever learn. The ride is smooth and comfortable from the beginning of the ride to the end. I am already set up with maintence on my car and everyone involved with the purchase was there to make what I wanted happen. I told them what I wanted in a car and in two days they found me exactly the car I wanted and needed. The financing was done through the dealership and they found me the best loan available that fit my budget. It was worry free from start to finish and the whole staff has made themselves available to answer all my questions. I love my car and if there is ever a need for another one I will be back with the people who I trust. Thanks guys

It is what it is.

You don't buy a Prius V if you are hoping to impress your date or show off your driving skills. It is slightly truculant, and a little nerdy. It is also extremely practical. It has much more room than a regular Prius, it looks (to my eye, anyway) a lot better, and it still gets fabulous mileage. You do pay a modest premium mpg-wise for the extra room, but the utility of the car is greatly enhanced if you, like me, often carry a lot of stuff. I also like that it is one of the environmentally cleanest cars made, and I have had no complaints so far on the quality of the build or finish. It's no sports car, and it's not cheap, but it is what it claims to be,.. clean, efficient, practical, and reliable. It also doesn't hurt that these cars promise to hold their value well.

Car that saves Gas

The car gets about 50 mpg on the our long distance trips!! Comfortable car. I bought the Prius V Three but by the time I upgraded the seats to leather and put in the moon roof (after market), I might as well bought the Prius V Five with the Advantage package!!

More than I expected

I looked at the Prius V Three for the combo of size and fuel efficiency. I bought one about 9 months ago and have 9000 miles on it. I drive it in the city and highway. In terms of mileage, it is fantastic. I have averaged about 44.6 mpg since owning the car. I have noticed that I get better mileage when it is warm. I tracked my drive in to work going the same route (15 miles) and noticed that I get 4 mpg better for every 10 degrees warmer it is outside (I think that it gets no more benefit above 80 or 90 degrees, though). I ahve taken several road trips (7 to 10 hours) and have gotten up to 48 mpg with a loaded car. In terms of space, I can fit 4 golf bags and 4 golfers in the car. I took my family (2 adults, a late teen and two children) on a long car ride (10 hours) with luggage - although we packed lightly knowing that it is a small car - and the trip was reasonable, especially given that the alternative was a minivan with 18 mpg. However, 5 passengers on a long trip is not possible with all adults or larger children. The main downside is acceleration. I have noticed that I drive more sedately in this car than my Audi (which I still love, especially when it snows). Since I know that this car does not have the power of the Audi, I do not push it. I get better mileage that way, and arrive at my destination in about the same time. Starting at a light up hill can be a slow process unless you floor it or go into power mode (and kill the mileage advantage). The car drives well on the interstate at speeds of 70 to 80, but maintaining that speed on some long steep hills can be a challenge, especially with a loaded car. I really like the electronics - it synchs with my phone well for calls and music. The iPod connection works well. I am not thrilled with the map function - it seems to work well, but I think that the Garmin is better. If I touch the screen to try to manipulate the map and hit the wrong place, it thinks that I am trying to get to a new destintation and re-routes me. I am sure that there is a work-around, but I use it too infrequently to spend the time. The voice command option lets you look for directions while driving, but you can only enter by hand when the car is stopped (the passenger cannot even do this while the car is moving) Bottom line is that I liked the car so much we bought a second one about 4 months ago to replace our mini-van, with the worse case scenario that we take both cars or rent a van if we need to carry people and stuff on a long trip.

2012 Prius V Base Model

First time Prius owner, vehicle is 4 months old, just over 7,000 km. We own a 2007 Yaris that has been a joy with no upkeep cost beyond scheduled service. Yaris goodness was a big factor in purchase. Agree with other reviews on this site. Not much point saying what others have already stated. Mileage is as advertised, driving is as expected (not bad, not exciting, predictable). It is a very capable vehicle for commute and a recent week long trip that included repeatedly climbing 1,500 ft with 4 adults and luggage. I was able to add a trailer hitch in my garage (torque properly) for the bike rack. My ideal V would have had the 3rd row of seats as sold elsewhere. To have that 3rd row for the 1/2 dozen times a year required would have been fantastic. The best answer I've found for this version not being available is $$$ added cost for the lithium ion battery, OK. But the soon to be seen Ford C-Max has this battery and has similar pricing. C-Max will also have compass and middle row under seat storage, nice. I believe a lot is going to happen in this class of vehicle the next couple of years. I trust Toyota will have the good sense to stay ahead of the curve with regards to innovation and value. Serious Prius competition is coming.

1st Hybrid

Excellent space utilization. The #1 reason I bought the car. I also wanted good gas mileage, it delivers that too, so far my lifetime average is 43.9mpg. The sound system (ATP version) is outstanding. I only wish the Entunes was a little less "glitchy". Also, iHeart won't let you create your stations like it does on the internet. Makes it somewhat useless for me. I can get good power when needed with the POWER button. My main gripe is the finish of the interior is baby chicken: cheap.

love it

Bought it 7 months ago. Already 21000 plus miles. Had a Lexus GX470 SUV which I loved. Opened new office 70 miles from home and was getting killed on gas. Needed a vehicle to haul stuff from one office to the other. Bought loaded Prius V v and absolutely love it. Drive expressway at way over the speed limit constantly and I'm getting 41 miles per gallon. I'm 6'2 and 260 lbs and i feel very comfortable in it. SloLove all the room and savings on gas. I will hopefully run this baby until it can't do it anymore. Loads of storage. It's really just a cool looking mini station wagon but I'm very happy with it. MINUSES. Slow pickup, do not attempt a fast left on oncoming trafffic. Miss the quiet cabin and the stero of the Lexus. Still unable to connect phone to Entune system. Did it once at the beginning but still unable and no one has been able to help me at dealership. They blame my Android phone. Cheap arm rest could be better. Was not able to make it up the driveway during one of our heavy midwest snows.Wish it had a real sunroof

Most economically operated vehicle I have owned.

Outstanding Gas Mileage. I keep tapping the Gas Gauge to be certain it is working. The Prius V has unbelievable interior space with lots of storage spaces fo just about everything. Like the hi-tech features, especially the Back-Up Camera, Door Locking Features, Sound System, use of Radar to warn driver when automobiles ahead of you suddenly brake so that you can avoid rear-end accidents.

pretty good car

mostly a good car so far, had for one month. Some minor flaws. Windshield wipers are too short and don't clean entire windshield. Windshield wiper fluid squirts beyond windshield onto driver's side window dirtying it. Very comfortable to drive. Lots of cargo space for a small car.

Wife absolutely loves her Prius V

We are an Avalon family. I went in to have my 2007 Avalon Limited. serviced. My wife never liked the Avalon as it was to big for her. While I was waiting, she was test driving the Prius V. Before I knew it my Avalon was traded and we never looked back. MY WIFE ABSOLUTELY LOVES THE PRIUS V. We average in the low 40s for gas mileage mixed city and Hwy. The car has all the room you need. The trunk is very spacious. I bought a loaded version. Car rides comfortable and it is peppy enough for us. All I can say is we are very happy with our purchase. We drove it from Palm Beach FL to NJ and it was a comfortable ride. Next year I will trade my 2001 Avalon for a 2013 Avalon for me.
