Wonderful Car for Seniors!
I purchased the Toyota Base with V6, automatic transmission, and 4wd in August 2007 and have driven it in two states, one hilly and the other flat. The 2007 Rav4 performs flawlessly in both situtations. The construction is tight, and the cabin is quiet. The car also has a tight turning radius, which makes getting into small parking spots easy. The seats are comfortable, the audio is excellent, and the controls are easy to read and reach. Seniors will especially love how easy it is to get in and out of the vehicle. The back hatch door is easy to open -- much easier for seniors than a lift-up type. The cargo area is awesome! (I would like to see the spare tire relocated, but that is a minor issue.) This car is fun to drive, has a ton of power, and has Toyota reliability. How much more does one need?

Lighting Dept. fell asleep
---------------2007 V-6 Sport Rav4---------------- Now that I can honestly review this car after driving for 6 months I'll tell the bad then the good. As winter came along and less daylight was out I found a flashlight in the car was needed. 1) rear compartment light not in the roof and doesn't come on when hatch door opened. 2) panel dimmer switch will not turn on interior lights. 3) light photo sensor on dash board is for looks. 4) NO auto-on headlights; only auto-off. 5) when driving and sun goes down daytime running lights provide enough light to drive...this is dangerous because other drivers cannot see car because headlights also control taillights. I had an aftermarket photo sensor installed to auto-on the headlights after a recent trip of driving 3 hours in total darkness with DRL for illumination. Gas pedal - A new feature to cars is electrical input positioning "fly by wire"; no more throttle cable to carburetor. The pedal has a tendency to feel "All On" or "All Off" which is great for the V-6 and all its awesome power, but for morning commutes of a steady speed my foot tends to go down more than up with this setup finding myself mostly passing cars than going the flow. Cruise control is best way of controlling throttle position. Ergonomics - At 6 foot tall I can drive this car for about 2 hours before a needed rest stop. I knew that most Japanese cars are designed for shorter drivers, for this obviousness I try to let my wife do most of the driving and I now take the American pickup for ease and comfort. Performance - Fast little mover. It's a zippy car that has NO problem at getting around. Steering is excellent. Brakes are outstanding. Handling is a breeze. Cup Holders - The two at the front of the shifter come with rubber inserts that are removable. The problem is that the cups going in them pull the insert out sticking on the cup; slim cans of red bull seem the only type that work. Other than that the car is great. Looks sharp and sleek....Oh and the rear door "barn door" is not as bad as talked about. If you park so another car doesn't come in behind you and block the swing path you should be O.K.

Love My 2007 Rav4
I purchased a used 2007 Rav4 that came off of someone's lease, it had 28,000 miles on it but was still under factory warranty. I am SO glad I bought it used, very worth it. I saved at least $5,000 by purchasing it used, and it is a Toyota so you can't go wrong. It handles very nice, super smooth on the highway. I feel really safe when driving, especially with side curtain air bags. You just cannot go wrong with the Rav4! If you are in the market for an SUV I highly recommend the Rav4.

yes,but a catch
My Rav is over a year old now and I have 27,200 mi on it. I love all the cargo space and feel it's been quite comfortable. MPG could be better. I traded in my Highlander which I adored -put 110,000 mi. on that one but wanted something a little bit more economical on gas. Since I was used to the bigger engine I could really feel the difference in pick up,but I do love the handling and the tracktion control. One annoyance - water on my head going through the drive through car wash. Dealer cleaned out drains and it's been ok since. One major problem I just had the drive shaft replaced! No one knows why there should have been a problem! (covered under warranty) Any one else have any problems?

I love my RAV
I bought the V6 Rav AWD new in 2006. I love it! The mileage has been great for a 4WD V6, it is comfortable, great visability and has the get up and go to get you where you want to be. It handles great around town, on the freeway and in the mountains. I love the JBL stero system with the 6 disc in dash. My RAV now has just over 14, 000 miles on it and not one problem. I have previously had a Toyota Corolla and Camry and I must admit I love the RAV's V6 engine over the 4cylinder in the Camry and Corolla. I have gotten lots of comments on how cute it is, there is lots of storage space including the in floor storage in the cargo area. I would buy another RAV and would highly suggest one to anyone looking for a mid-size SUV because it really is all that and more.

Lazy transmission, false MPG
It's a rav4 sport V6 4x4, 2007 that bought 3 months ago. The 5 speed automatic transmission often caught sleeping and this delay in shifting make driving jumpy. Another major flaws is the MPG, I can never come close the Toyota claims. In the city it's 14l/100k, 12l/100k on the highway.

Worst Toyota I have owned
I have owned only Toyota's since 1977. (Celica, truck, two Camry's). I have raved about every vehicle until this one. I purchased this in April, new. The road noise on the highways is terrible. We drove this on a 1300 mile round trip (mostly Interstate) and we are convinced we have hearing loss. (not exaggerating). The leg room in the front is also terrible. I am only 5'5" inches, and I sit with the seat all the way back. (I have short legs) The clock is impossible to see, way under the CD player. The gas mileage I got on my trip was barely 25 mpg, and I'm lucky to get 22 in the city. Its one redeeming virtue is that it hugs these windy mountain roads, nicely.

Far Better Quality and Reliability Than Jeep
I love my Rav4. It has the versatility of a truck, but the ride is smooth like a car. I used to own a Jeep Liberty and I spent more time in the repair shop with it than on the road. With my Rav, I've been able to fit a lot of cargo and I've towed my boat that weighs about 1,200lbs and it works great. Just don't try to tow a lot more weight and your fine. It serves my needs and I couldn't be happier; honestly- the best vehicle for the money hands down.

My new RAV 4, v6 engine, standard model
What a surprise the acceleration was and well worth it. I am able to smoothly get around people whose cars have less oomph in situations calling for decent maneuverability. The gas mileage is comparable to the Subaru Forester that I traded in for the RAV. With the standard model there are few bells and whistles and sometimes I want something more, like headrests that don't give you a neck ache. I solve that problem by (1) turning the headrest around for the front passenger and (2) for me, I had to put in a back cushion to keep my head in front of the headrest enough so that it was not being pushed by the headrest. This is a common problem on many Japanese cars. I did want some of the things that I had on my high-end Forester, so I paid extra for aftermarket heated seats, a compass mirror, and mudguards. A major annoyance is the suction that accompanies the rear door when driving in dust and then rain. I wound up with literally a mud puddle on my rear step of the car. The rain washes down the outside of the rear seal, and then gets deposited on the rear step , but you can't see it initially, as it is covered by the door. If you have dust, too, it becomes MUD. The dealer investigated, so I conclude that it is a major design flaw. I can't vouch for the reliability and only gave it 4 stars as I am a new owner. I really do like the feel and the handling. Braking is a bit mushy, but slightly better than my Forester. I LOVE the cargo space, especially all the room that is normally taken up by a spare tire, but which is mounted on the rear door of the RAV. That leaves lots more room for, you name it! I do NOT need a roof box anymore! The interior and exterior colors are coordinated and I have a cloth interior as I find leather to be too warm and sticky in summer and too cold in winter. I just think that in addition to having a "sport model" and "limited" edition, that Toyota would be doing every northerner a favor by having a "Winter Package", like Subaru does, with heated side mirrors and windows, and heated seats on its standard model. That would go a long way with a lot of customers in the North. The ground clearance is good at 7 1/2 inches, same as the Forester, which got me through some snow drifts. I am looking forward to using it in the snow.

Great Drive
I have the V6 sport. The drive is great. It takes a while to get used to the sudden accleration when you hit the gas peddle. I get about 9km/liter in city running. Seems decent because the Honda Civic that my wife drives gives about 12 km/liter with a 1.7 engine. Highway drive is great fun. The owners manual seems horrible. It does not explain the features seperately for differnt models. By reading it I thout it has bluetooth. But it doesn't. It is same for all the other features. Kind of hard to figure out what is there and what is not. PG
