Great car, but beware if you plan on towing.

I am very pleased with my new Rav4. I got the 2wd with the V6, and my mileage has been 25.9 MPG in mixed driving. That is only 1 MPG less then the mileage I was getting with my Honda CR-V 4 Cyl. Much more power, smoother ride, and very comfortable for a man thats 6ft tall. Everything is well laid out in the cabin, and with the exception of the rear door, its a perfect fit for me. I bought the Rav because I felt the styling was better then the new CR-V. But, if you are interested in purchasing the TOW PACKAGE, buyer beware . The sticker on the window will tell you that the package includes Upgrade Radiator, Fan Coupling, Alternator, and PRE WIRING. Don't be fooled into believing the wiring will be there for a trailer, as it won't. You have to purchase a wiring harness and have it installed to accomadate a trailer. Since the rear lights are LED, you have to pay particular attention to installation or you could run into problems. I havent found a reputable trailer company that will install it. Most don't want the headache if something goes wrong. Toyota has not been very honest about this issue with its customers.

Quality SUV

Excellent all-round vehicle. Bought the Sport model and would highly recommend this model if you like a firm and controlled ride, handles as well as some coupes and sport sedans. Awesome V6 power...almost too much, you want to have a firm grip on the wheel when you put your foot to the floor! So far mileage for commuting is in the 26-30mpg range which I think is pretty respectful for an suv of this size and horsepower.

A fantastic experience to drive - for it's Basics

It's very comfortable to drive or as a passenger. If you drive carefully, you will get great gas mileage but will never save the Planet from our greenhouse gas effects. I feel safer knowing that the 6 airbags will deploy at a high speed impact. We chose the Black RAV4 with the clear - coat protection. The RAV4 seems to attract alot of admiration due the stylish exterior. You sit higher up than in a car and there is vertually no blind spots. There is alot of head room and foot room in front and in the back second row of seats. The hidden cargo space in the back deck is a great feature. This vehicle can't be hotwired and the parts are identifiable with a stamped on number. Car thiefs will find that the theft protection engine emobilizer will be a real inconvenience to their trade. There are so many features available at the basic level that you don't have to add on. Example: Air Conditioning, 6 airbags, Roof Rack, 6 speaker stereo, electric steering linked to engine, brakes and automatic transmission, traction control, coffee cup and bottle holders. The resale price of this vehicle is terrific. Everyone will want this bigger 2007 unit. You step-up slightly when you enter this vehicle. The side curtain airbags and side impact panels are there to protect the driver and your children in the back seat. The engine is quiet when idling and you will be pleased with the respect of fellow drivers. Note: Learn how to avoid a collision. If you are in an accident, you are likely to walk away ... and survive.

A driver's SUV

I got the Sports Edition V6 4X4. Performance and fun factor is hard to beat. Drives like a sports sedan. A little pocket rocket. You just aim, depress the gas pedal, and you are there. I never felt as confident with my freeway merges, lane switching, and overtaking. This SUV also looks so attractive and for its compact classification, still has lots of passenger and cargo room. No wonder it bagged Consumer Reports, Car & Driver, and many other car publications top ratings. You'll never go wrong getting this one. If you want a soft ride get the Limited version. I highly recommend the Sports version if you enjoy hard driving and cornering.

Best Value for Small SUV

This is my first SUV and the standard features for this price are unbeatable. I bought a 4 cylinder 2WD Base and you really don't need to add any options to it. Great acceleration, great sound and smooth steering. I love driving this car with my ipod playing!

peppy but.......

I test drove a lot of the competition, it was the V-6 that sold me on the Rav4 Sport. Very good acceleration, but you have to watch out for torque-steer....keep both hands on the wheel. The suspension on the Sport model is pretty stiff, not a lot of body lean when cornering. The driver seat is not all that comfortable (I am 6-2 220) but the tilt-telescope wheel is nice. Its hard to read the stereo controls in bright sunlight, and the power ports aren't hot when you turn the key off.....bummer. I only have 1100 miles on mine, and have been averaging from 21.5 to 22.6 in mixed driving, including jack rabbit starts; I just can't help myself. Hopefully the mileage will improve a little. I have the 4WD and so far it has been great in the ice and snow. Biggest complaint is the driver legroom.

I'm seeing STARS

We put 350 miles on our new 2007 V6 2WD RAV4 over the weekend. We own a Tahoe and Honda, both SUVs. This vehicle is the perfect blend of both. It has pow pow power, and room for two men to sit side by side and have 12 inches between the sholders and 5 inches over the head. The 4 X 4 is so overrated because with the lock-in differential on the front wheel drive, spending the extra two grand for four wheel drive would be a waste....and I live in Minnesota! No one writes that up, because Toyota can make more money selling you the 4 X 4. Frankly, I would rather have two front tires pulling, rather than one in front and one in back. If you have ever repaired a 4 X 4 you know that is a price gouger as well. As much as I hate to say it, U.S. companies have just not developed the quality and enginieering that Toyota has, which makes me glad they are assembled in the U.S. I can't give everything 5 stars, mainly because I never drove a Lexus or BMW. But for those of us on a limited budget, the quality and engineering put into the RAV4 will put a large grin on your face and stars in your eyes!

extremely overrated

I purchased this vehicle for the gas mileage and I am not even coming close to toyotas estimates of 28 hiway and 21 city. I am getting 17 mpg hiway. This vehicle has a very stiff ride--you feel every bump. It also has unbelievable road noise inside the cab. Anyone thinking about one of these should drive it just to see how noisy it really is inside the cab. I contacted toyota about the poor gas mileage and they said the estimates are just that-estimates. The v6 does have decent power although on mine it seems like the transmission slips when first getting started and as a result the engine winds alot. It also shifts alot going uphill. The seats are uncomfortable and I have found it difficult to sit thru the longer drives I have taken. I think the interior could use better lighting especially in the rear of the vehicle. The rear seat adjustment for the back of the seats is on the outside top corner of the seats. It is difficult to adjust these without getting out of the vehicle first. The rear door opens toward the sidewalk which makes it rather awkward. I am very dissappointed in the vehicle, mainly because of the fuel economy but also because of toyotas response when I contacted them. As a result of the lower gas mileage this vehicle does not have alot of range out on the hiway. I have the limited v6 4x4 in blizzard pearl which is very nice. I am ready to move on to something more comfortable that also gets better fuel economy
