This Truck is a Beast

I have a SR5 with the 5.7. I had the dealer install a leveling kit so I could go to 33 inch tires. This truck will go through snow as high as the front bumper. If you want a true truck, the Tundra will do the job. This was by far my best truck after a Chevy and several Fords.

Mixed feelings

Bought my standard cab 4x4 SR5 with a 5.7L as a leftover at a good price. It has good power, a good sound system, and is comfortable ... however I bought it for the reliability, and have had problems that make me question my purchase. At 900 miles, one of the two Air Induction Pumps (AIP) went bad. ($1500, but under warranty) I come to find out that lots of people have had this, but even the dealer couldn't believe it happened so soon. This year, 2016, at 20k miles, my OEM Bridgestone tires were bald, and the front brakes were worn out, the rotors were rusted, and the calipers were leaking. I'm an older guy that doesn't tow, haul or beat on my vehicles, and this ended up to be $2000 out of pocket for an almost new truck. Mechanics said Toyota used really cheap tires and parts...not what I expected from a $35,000 vehicle. FYI...gas mileage is 13-14 local, Hwy is 19 if I keep it under 65 and 16 if I'm over 65. My only consolation is my previous Ford and Dodge were no better, with continuous problems as long as I had them. Friends with GM's report no better. I'm starting to think leasing and getting rid of them all after three years is the way to go.

2012 Tundra DC

I bought this truck new in 2012. 5.7 engine, 4x4 with tow package. Many reviewer's complain about gas mileage. Had a 2009 TACO, and this 5.7 gets better mileage than it EVER got. Come on, this is a 'powerful' truck, not a wimpy car. If you cannot afford the gas, then you can't afford the truck. Most comfortable and great handling truck. More power than most would ever need. I have owned Fords, Chevys, GMCs and Dodges, all bought new. Only my Ford could ever compare closely to this Tundra. Try it and you will like it.

Mighty Tundra

I got my third Tundra using Cars.com. This time it's a beautiful white 2012 4 X 4. Lifted, powerful muscular looking truck! It handles great on or off road, and can stop on a dime!
