2012 Beetle Turb-No

I read another reviewer from another site state that the car squirts you around town, and after reading that I said that is exactly how I would describe the DSG at low speeds. I constantly find myself squirting into and out of corners unexpectedly. The automatic had little to no immediate response on the accelerator in D, but in S it's pretty quick and satisfying. However I cant justify premium gas at $4.20 a gallon and 24 mpg or less on a 14 gallon tank. There is just not enough oomph or driver satisfaction for me personally. Now lets move on to the windows. Driver side window and I do not get along. There is no fix as of this writing, and it is the most frustrating thing I have ever had to deal with. It was my first brand new car purchase and I actually have to open and close the window on the regular. No bueno. The interior is pretty cool. People think they're riding in a night club. The sound system is OK. I'm definitely over all the insults for being a male and driving a beetle. The people doing the insulting drive a 1997 cavalier and are still making payments on it. Fix the windows and you would have had yourself a deal.

Good car, but cannot recommend at this time

I purchased a new 2012 Beetle for my wife with 17 miles on it. From day 1 we had the window issues that everyone complains about. Disappointing to say the least. The dealer's response was "don't use them then." That's not the car's fault though, just bad customer service. The car does handle quite well and the 2.5l seems peppy enough for daily duty. The transmission shifts smoothly and quietly and is good for an automatic (I'm a manual lover, what can I say). The interior trim feels high quality for the price paid and is a very nice place to be. The Fender audio system is very good for a stock set up. The Navigation system seems lacking as it can not seem to get me to my apartment complex without over complicating it. Trunk space is very good as well. The exterior is much improved over the old new Beetle and is actually something a straight man might drive, just not in the wife's preferred Denim Blue. I did notice that the engine compartment has room to work without having to dismantle the engine to top off brake fluid, unlike the old New Beetle. Overall it is a very nice car for the money, but I can not recommend it until VW fixes these window issues. That is THE only flaw on this car.

Run From 2012 Beetle

It is a beautiful car and very fun to drive the turbo model. I have received many compliments on it but the problem I am having is the windows! In the past three days I have had to climb out of the passenger side door because if I open the drivers side door the pinch guard will not go back into place. It rains a lot where I live and I have had at least three occasions when my car has been soaked. I am being told that VW does NOT have a fix for the window. Customer service told me to carry around plastic with me. I have owned this car for four months and I am sad to say that I am going to have to make VW take it back. If you live in an area that doesn't rain then by all means drive this fun car until they can come up with a fix. Unfortunately I do not have that option.

worst service ever!

Purchased my 2012 Beetle 2 months ago. Have had NOTHING but problems with the power windows. When I called the service dept. to have it fixed, they stated that VW was aware of the issue. And at this time they have no fix for the problem ! Meanwhile both windows will not completely close. Make sure you have a garage if you purchase this vehicle

Love love love! Except, for the windows...

The design, inside and out, is awesome! The sound system is unbeatable and its one of the most comfortable cars I've ever driven. Handles well, I got 33 MPG on a trip from Austin to Dallas which was much better than I had expected and I get about 27-28 around town, which is still really really good! It's my second beetle, had a 2003 before this one, that I absolutely loved as well. I've had this car for about 3 months and and I have no regrets. I absolutely love this car. However, the windows are an issue. Like all the other reviews on here I have the same exact issue. They go up about half way, stop and then come back down. This happens about three times. On the third time they go up a little farther then stop, go up a little more, then stop. I also have to make sure that they go up all the way because sometimes there will still be a little gap at the top.I can live with problem, it's a little annoying from time to time but until VW finds a fix I'll deal with it. Overall, I love this car <3

Can't recommend because of the window issue

Wait until VW can offer trouble-free power windows before even considering the 2012 Beetle. The window issue that other reviewers have described cropped up the day after picking it up at the dealer. We noted the problem immediately on feedback forms, but as we quickly rack up the miles, we decided to wait until its first scheduled service to repair it. At that time we learned that there's no fix currently available. We've now been driving a car with what is essentially a defective driver's window for three months. Constant resets make it function for perhaps one or two uses. Trying to close the window after pulling out of the parking garage is a daily aggravation and a safety issue. After three failed attempts to close it last night after parking outdoors (it stops short of the top seal by .25"), I gave up and went inside, hoping rain wasn't in the forecast. We've owned a Jetta, two Golfs, and a Rabbit in the past 14 years and have been incredibly satisfied with them. We'd like to be able to say we love this car, but right now we're regretting the fact that we didn't purchase another Golf.

2012 New Turbo Beetle - Window/Brake Issues

If I had known there were power window issues, I would have never bought it. Windows do not work properly at all. Doesn't close all the way when you want it. Have to try several times to get it to close. Had my car flooded due to rain going into the driver side of window in which I thought were closed all the way. Real problematic! Also, brakes at times become really hard to press down to turn on the car. Yes, when you start the car, the brake has to be pressed down in order for it to come on. Turns out, there are times when you can't get the brake to go down!! Only had the car two months and am ready to take it back this week!!

Great car except power window issue's

We purchased our 2012 turbo beetle in March 2012, it had power window issues, air and water leak at passenger window, noisy Htr/ Ac blower motor, asked VW to replace it, they did after 3 weeks, 2nd one has same window issue, ref TB 64-12-01; was fixed once, passenger window seems Ok, drivers is worse! still no fix! fuel gauge when filled over 70 degs, won't stay on full, drops about 1/4 inch, gauge was replaced, no help! asked VW to refund our purchase price, they are making 2 payments instead , I get calls from customer service every 3 weeks to update me on window fix; great customer service!
