Love this TDI model!

So classy for Volkswagen! I love the new body style, it's much better quality wise that older models. The smell and function of the diesel motor is also improved. It functions fine in cold weather and the smell is minimal compared to older TDI's that I have owned. I love it!

I really shold have kept my Lincoln

I purchased a TDI SE on May 23, 2007 which replaced an 2003 Lincoln Town car. The reason being, I wanted a more efficient car for my long days of driving for work. Well, I have learned that this was a terrible mistake. The seats are uncomfortable, the car rides rough, the stereo sounds terrible, the paint is chipping, a tall person like myself cannot sit in the back seat as sit up straight. The diesel needs servicing every 5k and the DSG needs servicing every 40k, the money I saved in fuel economy is given back to VW in the form of outrageously expensive service calls ($66.00 to $496.00) The Town car was serviced every 12k for not near the cost of the Jetta. Very disappointed! VW focus! Will be trading in for another Lincoln in the near future.

Great little car - My Diesel Jetta

It has been a great car, the only three complaints would be is that: a)The drink cups are way too small. b)If you crack a rear window open the noise and vibration is too much. c)Heat/ac fan is too lound in highest position.

Love my TDI

Ruby is a TDI...the sticker when I bought her new said that I could expect 38/city 41/highway. I drive the car alot and I am getting an average of 48mpg. For some reason I get only 42mpg when using 20%biodiesel? I live in New England and she starts up right away. She handles well. She has good kick and power for when you need or want it (Boston traffic). Not only would I recommend my car to another I would buy another one if I needed too. However, me and Ruby are gonna spend many many years together.

Meant for the highway, like the rigs

This is our second VW diesel. The 78 Rabbit had a lot of spunk and fuel economy, but required constant work and glow plug replacement. Our 2006 VW Jetta diesel is awesome. We commute just over 600 miles a week. This puppy doesn't require oil changes or maintenance at every 5000 miles, but instead the manufacture suggests every 10000 miles(give or take). Great on the highway, purs well in the city (but meant for the open roads). Very well built, solid and I have recommended this vehicle to friends and family. Awesome car.

Diesel version is very reliable - best gas mileage

I don't ever write reviews but the diesel version of this vehicle is worth raving about. THIS IS NOT A SMALL ECONOCAR: 1) THIS ROOMY CAR WILL FIT FULL-SIZE PASSENGERS IN FRONT AND REAR; NOT LIKE A SMALL CAR. THIS CAR HAS A DEEP BIG TRUNK. THIS CAR SAVES MONEY: 1) MPG IS HIGHER THAN GAS CARS = NEARLY 600 MILES BETWEEN FILL-UPS; 2) DIESEL CARS LAST 100,000 OF THOUSANDS OF MILES LONGER THAN GAS CARS; 3) THERE ARE NO EXPENSIVE HYBRID BATTERIES TO REPLACE IN THE FUTURE; 4) OIL CHANGES ON A DIESEL ARE EVERY 10,000 MILES VS. EVERY 3000-5000 MILES ON A GAS ENGINE; 5) LOWER INSURANCE PREMIUMS DUE TO HIGHLY RATED CRASH TEST SAFETY SCORES. 6) NO CALIFORNIA SMOG TESTS (EVER)!

Does EVERYTHING well

Haven't owned a VW since my 1984 Rabbit GTI... I have now bought 3! Jetta TDIs - one in Hawaii, one in CA & one for my girlfriend. COmfortable, reliable, TONS of torque, great ergonomics, stylish. Incredible fit, finish & materials - better than BMW. Handles great. And the same mileage as my 2005 Prius Hybrid. Get one!

Another Great VW

I wanted a no-nonsense car that would last a while and still be fun to drive for my work commute. I did not like the exterior styling and still don't but I do enjoy the way this car responds and handles. Great gas mileage, getting from 28 to 31 back and forth to work. I use premium because it is more cost effective than regular, but both work fine. The 2.0 T is absolutely squirrely; you need to be paying attention when you stomp in it. Well cut lines inside, stereo sounds great. Worth the investment.

One of cardom's better kept secrets

Bought a "new" 2006 Jetta TDI fours months ago and can't say enough good thinks about it....but I'll try. On our first road trip to the mountians of NC got 49 mpg on biodiesel. The egromomics are outstanding, as is said, everything falls readily at hand and the seats leave you at the end of the trip ready for more. Handling (yank, bank, hoa) is of sports sedan quality...accerlation is satisfactory unless you're a ricky racer. And the DSG transmission performs as advertized, shift if you're suffering withdrawal from the stick or let it alone & it performs okiedokie. Can't comment on reliablity as she's so new. Looking forward to a road test of the 2008 model. FIN

Great car

This is a wonderful car. Comfortable, huge trunk, great handling, and did I mention 45-50 mpg highway and 35-45 city mpg?
