2011 VW Jetta TDI Auto
I've now owned my 2011 Jetta TDI for about 2 months, and the one thing that keeps coming to my mind is 42 MPG. By the way in everyday driving you can get way better than the 42 MPG listed on the window sticker. In fact, I have gone on 50 mile trips and averaged 47 MPG! As far as economical, this car is great, I love the fuel economy. However, I do have some gripes about this car. My car is two months old and yet I hear interior rattles, now the dealer did say they would fix this I just haven't taken it in yet. The seat is also very uncomfortable if you are over 6ft tall. And to be completely honest the exterior styling isn't sporty enough. The DSG automated manuel transmission is very difficult to get used to, if you are at a complete stop in "D" and hit the gas hard you will sit there for about 1.5 seconds before you actually move. Now as you drive this car more you get used to the delay, and what to do to avoid it, but I must say at first this lag almost got me hit a time or two. If you leave a stop in "S" (sport mode) there is no delay. There is another strange thing that the DSG transmission does, when you are going at a low rate of speed at a low constant RPM the transmission will occasionally make the car hop. It almost feels as if you are driving a manual in 3rd gear and it's trying to stall. My jetta has done this 4 times now, so I called the dealer and they basically just told me that it will occasionally do that. Other than the weird transmission, uncomfortable seat, interior rattles, and un-sporty design it is a great overall car. I would hate it if it didn't get such good fuel economy, I mean who can complain when you get well over 42MPG.

best of both worlds
I was coming from an older - but still sporty - coupe ('97 acura integra gsr). I was really looking for something fuel efficient but with 4 doors, so I was mainly considering other cars in the compact sedan segment. I considered Mazda 3, Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and the Jetta. Hybrids did not have enough power for me (I'm heavy footed), so I did not consider them, but I knew I didn't need something super powerful. The Mazda3 felt much like my parents' Kias - cheap. Go open and close the door on one of those - It feels like tin foil and plastic. That was all I needed to see to cross that one off my list. The Corolla was nice - but nothing special and I didn't particularly care for the interior styling. This narrowed my choices down to the Civic and the Jetta. The Civic sedan seemed like a good, solid car. It felt well put together, and rode decent. Not a lot of power, but certainly sufficient. I was looking at the EX-L sedan w/ Nav (top of the line for the civics). The navigation seemed to be from the stone age, and the voice commands were a joke. However, I knew the civic would be a reliable car (My Acura had 180k miles and was still very reliable... just a bit outdated for me). Then I drove the Jetta TDI. I was mainly considering this vehicle due to the fuel economy (rated at 30/42 but ask any other TDI owners and they'll tell you its actually much higher). As soon as I pulled out of the parking lot, I was in love. The 0-60 specs might not seem so great on paper, but man this car is fun to drive! If you are considering a Jetta, drive the TDI! I opted for the nav package, which included navigation (obviously), fog lights, and the push button start. The navigation is light years ahead of those in at the Mazda3 and Honda Civic (I didn't test the Corolla's), and the Jettas bluetooth works exceptionally!. The push button start means I never have to fish the keys out of my pocket (actually very convenient). Are there cars on the market with more features? sure. but I felt the Jetta TDI was the best run for my money. I compared insurance quotes before making my purchase - and state farm offered me a 20% safety discount for the Jetta. This put my monthly premium lower than the Civic's (and being 22, low insurance makes a big difference). Additionally, the updated exterior appearance give it a totally different look - not girly anymore (I always thought Jettas were too girly for me - but now I own one). The interior is very nice, although I'm worried my cornsilk beige will get dirty. My 6' friends sit comfortably in the back seat, even with my seat all the way back. and the trunk is HUGE. I cannot comment on the reliability because I have only owned mine for 1 week now. If you are worried about vw's "downgrading" for the 2011 year - don't. It is something you would only notice coming from a 2009 or 2010 (and even then, maybe not). The car handles well, despite the torsion beam rear suspension. Road noise doesn't seem to be a problem. The base gasser model is the only model that was downgraded to rear drum brakes i believe. I would recommend to anyone on the market for a new car with the capacity of a mid size sedan, the fuel economy of a hybrid, and the interior and performance of a luxury sedan to consider this years Jetta - especially the TDI. You'll know just what I mean once you take your test drive

Amazing car
This is my first VW. I got the SEL in Black with Black interior. Super sharp car with all the options! The GPS works great and is easy to use. I recently went on a 6 hour drive and loved every minute. Comfortable, quiet ride and plenty of power under the hood to pass at highway speeds. Test drive the Jetta and you will see too.

Jedi Jetta
Amazing experience, I got my new fully-loaded Jetta in October. The features and styling of this beauty make up for any lag on the "race-track". Great car!

1st time Jetta Owner
So this is my first Jetta that I have ever owned. I came over from Ford and so far I'm just a little upset with the road noise/ wind noise from the driver side window. Performance wise its great to have a manual car again. Actually feel like I'm driving vs just along for the ride. Price wise its a deal, and with the 0.9% financing that is offered it makes it feel like your getting a better deal. Would I recommend this car? I would say yes after they fix the driver side noise issue.

I love this car
I love this car! Not only is it beautiful and fun to drive, but it has lots of room for my family. What kept us from buying a Jetta in the past was the lack of head room for my 6'5 husband and the lack of room in the back seat for my two boys. This new Jetta is perfect! I've always wanted one and finally it fits all my needs!

New to VW and I Chose the 2011 Jetta
I wanted a car with good gas mileage. I wanted a car reasonably priced. I wanted a car that would be roomy in the backseat for people over 6 ft. tall (considering that I have a 13 yr. old that is 6 ft.) I wanted a car that has great safety features. I wanted navigation I wanted heated seats I wanted bluetooth I got everything I wanted when I bought my Jetta yesterday. Am I worried about the "lack of luster" interior? Heck no! I am upgrading from a Chrysler! Am I worried about performance? Nope. That isn't why I bought the car. Had I wanted performance, I would have looked at a sports car, not that I could have afforded it, or anything. Anyhoo, there you have it. I love the Jetta~ so far, so good (and I have piece of mind with that extended warranty to 100,000 miles!).

Great, Reliable, Safe , Modern, youthful car
This is the best sedan I have ever driven. When my financial status was different , I drove a 2005 Range Rover and now since I have to adapt I chose the 2011 Jetta. It's definetely a nice ride, it's quiet, 0-60 km/h is not as fast as the big SUV, but I am still extremely happy, It's very youthful, and modern looking. VW has definetely made a long and loyal customer out of me. I feel very safe on the highway since I drive 100km to work every day each way. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and I recommend it to everybody that is in the market for a reliable, long lasting, modern vehicle.

my last das auto...
Owned this car for 3 month. Maybe jetta good on german autobans, but on American hwys 170 HP feels more like 120, but they sure like to eat for 200, real MPG way different vs manufactory?s. Compare to my 2010 Camry jetta got noisy and rough ride , poor gas mileage and terrible ergonomics. 2-3 hrs of driving and I?m tired, vs 15-16 hrs on camry, went on 2300 miles trip lately. and transmission failure at 3K miles? Just perfect! Wanted to trade it for passat, been offered aftyer long negotiation $5K less than paid in cash,VW dealer said ?sorry European cars don?t hold value?! Great! Das auto! Gladly traded for another 2011 Camry , but still lost 3K on jetta, had to take best trade in offer. It was my second VW and 4th European car, but 100% sure the very last one.
