Great feature packed small SUV

Vehicle met all personal preferences required (although ventilated seats in the front would have been a nice option on this model). With the R-series trim - my only dislike is the activation of alarms each time I bounce down my driveway. The vehicles sophistication and sporty drive feel made it an easy decision when compared to other make small SUVs.

Cost effective 7 seater. More fun than you’d think

I love a fun-to-drive car. We set out to buy anything but a CUV, and we wound up with a 2019 “certified pre owned” Tiguan anyway. It was the most cost effective, practical solution for us, and it’s also surprisingly enjoyable to drive. This was the situation: We have two kids, and we occasionally need to transport their friends. Plus, we weren’t ready to make a decision about whether to have a third child in the middle of a car dealership. Our underpowered 2007 Honda CR-V was on its last legs, with the AC failing for the third time. We also live in a 1960 ranch, and our older garage wasn’t built to fit a modern 3 row SUV. We went to the VW dealership to drive a Sportwagen, but the wagon’s back seat felt smaller than the one on my 2 door GTI! Also, the road to our kids’ preschool floods whenever it rains at high tide. Enter the Tiguan. It’s a 7 seater vehicle with reasonable gas mileage and car-like handling. Yes the third row is small, but so what? Kids are short and flexible. It fits our garage and our budget. The only cheaper 7 seater on the market is a Dodge, but the VW is a better deal with the 6 year bumper-to-bumper warranty and great financing rate. I also think it’s a better car than the Dodge 7 seater CUV, frankly. Some car magazines have complained about an acceleration problem. I agree with another reviewer that the engine must have been tuned better in the second year, for 2019. I don’t appreciate any acceleration problem at all—even at 80 mph up the Sunshine Skyway. I found it much more peppy than the RAV-4, for example, and it also sounds better. It especially shines in urban driving, where 0-30 is more relevant than 0-60. Because the Tiguan meets all of our practical needs for a reasonable price, it really opens up the options for our second car. We are making some upgrades to my GTI next.

not even a week old but Love it: traded in 2012

Car is much roomier than the 2012 and ride is extremely smooth. Seats are very comfortable and has many bells and whistles. I have only owned it for less than a week but am loving it. traded in a 2012 so this is so much better

VW is a German joke

I currently own a 2012 Tiguan used in Ohio with 65 k on it. I opted for it for reliability and fuel efficiency. Let's begin: Rear wiper motor and washer pump failed in the first month #4 coil pack failed Water pump failed Rear brakes failed Passenger front CV axle is currently failed. This is all within a 2 YEAR SPAN. You need a water pump? $1200 plus. Brakes? $6-700 plus. Now here's the best part, you can BARELY change a bulb in this xxx without having to take it to a dealership and having it hooked up to VAGCOM. Which is VW's electronic xxxxxx system. I take great care of my cars and don't abuse them whatsoever. VW is an absolute dirty, worthless joke of a manufacturer that rests on the reputation of something they had in the past. DO NOT EVER EVER BUY A VW. EVER! I could go on for hours, but I'm sure that you are already looking at this post as " oh, just a grumpy customer". If that's the case, go buy your VW. I'll see you at the repair shop.

Never met a VW that I didn't like

I owned an older Tiguan and recently purchased a 2019 which is larger. I can't believe the difference in the room! I am also loving the amenities and discovering new features just about every time I drive it. VW has had my business for years and I sure they will for years to come!
