The Future of Luxury Cars
This is just an amazing SUV, all the technology could be overwhelming at first but then you start thinking why you didn't have this before. Owned many german cars specially Audi, never a Volvo before and looks like I'm staying with Volvo for the long run now. Very spacious interior and the quality of it its just amazing, feels like a much more expensive car... i would recommend getting the Inscription model though, it makes a huge difference!

Good First Impression
Just test drove the all new 2016 XC90 with Sam from my Volvo dealership in Houston. The new XC90 is much beefier and luxurious than my older XC90. It rides more like a luxury sedan than an SUV...I consider that a plus since most of my driving is in the city. Visibility, comfort, and safety are top factors which make this Volvo stand out in selection of my next vehicle. Unfortunately, only AWD is being offered at this point of manufacture.... would prefer FWD based on my intended use of the vehicle. All in all, based on my first impression, it is likely that I'll be making another trip to Gothenburg for a factory delivery of my new XC90.

Disappointed overall - Needs work
Despite the initial rave reviews and my initial very good first impressions, the 2016 XC90 has disappoints us at this price point. Responsiveness and ride have been puffy and slow, and the cabin ends up feeling tight to front and rear passengers. Our biggest beef is what is turning out to be a very il-placed starter knob and drive mode dial. Volvo has taken the starter and made it into a cheap plastic knob in the center console. Tis area is very busy, so the knob (not a button) is easy to hit, cover up with papers, and spill liquids on. Why such an important feature is in such a busy, messy place, I don't know. Below that is the plastic, shiny drive mode dial. Tis is indented below the surface of the center console, so already it is collected dirt, dust, and eventually liquids. Absolutely design error. Compared to our 2013 XC90, the 2016 has given up on feeling like a utility car in favor of going luxury. Our 2013 always feels like it could conquer snow and the great outdoors; the 2016 feels like it belongs on city streets and in a safe, cozy garage. This car has gone cute, not functional. The internal appointments feel like they are depurate to scream "luxury" and do not feel practical. At this price, I would expect more creative storage options and more electrical options (one 12 V in the passenger area, one in the rear cargo, and two up front. No AC inverter option, which even my much less expensive Ford vehicle has. Safety features, of course, appear to be top-notch. But some of the features are gimmicky. So, overall, this 2016 has disappointed this 2013 XC90 owner. We'll keep our current XC90 and hope Volvo looks itself in the mirror and returns to its roots.

The Future Today
I just had a test drive of the XC 90 at the local dealership. I have had other luxury SUVS but this SUV is the future available today. The advanced design, drive-ability, the unmatched safety features set it apart from all the others. Some of the best news is that a comparably equipped luxury SUV would cost many, many thousands more. Taste is individual and not everyone will like every good vehicle. I an just say that if you are interested in a luxury SUV this is one of a very few you should consider. My opinion is that of all the ones I have drive, and I think I've tried them all, this is the best and the best value.
