40e doesn't cost that much more than the 6 cylinder and I am averaging 45mpg. Nice federal tax rebate and I get 800 miles on a tank of gas. Plus parking spots reserved for charging are generally primo and available. This car is the same 0-60 as the 6cyl, but smoother and quicker off the line. I just use a standard outlet in my garage, so a full charge takes 7 hours over night. Public charging spots are 3 times as fast. I take the car on road trips without charging and it operates like a normal X5. No downside to getting the hybrid that I can tell.

I read the reviews here prior to purchasing over a year ago, and now that I've had 30k miles to reflect back on this purchase (78k total), I think the lack of reviews seems to be pretty indicative of what ownership is like. Zero reliability problems, maintence has been cheaper than my 15' Tahoe (awful car, btw), and I've become numb to the ease of ownership because I've found nothing major to complain about with it.. and trust me, I tried. I average 35-40 mpg on a 50 mile round trip commute and I charge at night. I don't even notice when the engine kicks on (I have to look at the tachometer to know unless I'm gunning it), but when it is on, this thing is a little rocket. I wasn't quite ready for a full EV and this has far exceeded my expectations for bridging that gap, so much so that I drove a 2018 X5 35i and it felt like I went back to the stone age. Only minor complains: Cabin so insanely quiet I hear little crackles in the interior when I smack potholes, infotainment is complex (every BMW has this issue), and I can only get 18ish miles out of pure EV mode. The fact there are hardly any bad reviews of this car on here (aside your typical Karens) just tells me that owners, like myself, have nothing we need to shout from the rooftops to forewarn about. I've recommended this car to friends and family, I'd buy another one, and I concede that there's always the possibility something eventually could go wrong.. it's a car after all. I've only owned the SAV for 1 month so I cannot comment on reliability, but it's been perfect so far. The electric capacity is just enough to get me through the day on short trips. The torque from the electric motor is surprising and powerful. I love the styling and features. Everything is ideal for hauling small loads in the city. Highway performance is decent as well. I average 73mpg daily.

My service advisor, Justin Greider, was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to work with. He is a great asset to Bellevue BMW. Since I brought my vehicle in for a 36 month check up, that I thought was to be covered under the 36 month or 36,000 mile warranty / service plan from the original acquisition of the car, I was caught a bit off guard by the cost of the service at about $1,500. When a vehicle is sold with what I thought was most all regularly scheduled maintenance covered for 36 months, it was surprising to find otherwise. Yes, I approved the maintenance items with cost attached to them, as without the proper expertise in the engineering of the vehicle, and lacking car repair and maintenance expertise, it is impossible for me to know better than BMW as to what should or should not be done to properly maintain the vehicle. Assuming the maintenance items performed were required, then they should be included in the warranty / maintenance program, since they were required within the 36 month period.

The BMW X5 (hybrid version) meets all needs of a luxury SUV. Smooth drive, technical features - makes it very safe, reliable and comfortable. Highly recommended.

I commute through Boston round trip to New Hampshire and this car has helped keep me safe and comfortable with some of the most daredevil drivers on the road. The visibility is excellent and the emergency braking has saved me when abrupt lane changers dive in front of a line of cars going 70 in the tunnel. The car is fun, with a lot of gimmicks and convenience features. It takes a while to learn how to use all these, but that keeps things interesting. Local driving is cost-free with the E-drive too.

I drove into the service area this morning without an appointment and was greeted by Cam. He was friendly and asked what I needed. Then Quinn arrived to ask what I needed and I explained that the CarPlay disappeared and I needed help getting it back. Right away he took charge and got it connected. Then I explained another problem about my voice prompt not working and then Rich Kim appeared to ask if he could help. So I had two people on the scene( and in my car) to go through what seemed to be a complicated process to reset my system. I wish I knew what they did, all I can say is they stepped up and rescued me. Rich had a lot of knowledge and even though I was worried to start resetting everything, he came through and got everything working. This most important aspect of this experience is the immediate help with my problem. Tech is obviously not in my wheel-house, having such smart and helpful Honda Kirkland staff is amazing. Rich and Quinn never hesitated, gave heavy sighs, or gave a hint of inconvenience in taking care of my situation. Every visit for my scheduled maintenance has been pleasant and I will sing the praises of Rich Kim and Quinn at every opportunity. Thank you.

In Today's seller market, the Davis staff did everything in their power to make our purchase of an Equinox as easy as possible as well as affordable as possible. I like the no pushy sale. They explained and let you decide. It helps to have salesmen who are experts in cars. and they do have those. My regular service advisor was not on duty so I was greeted by Michael D’Loia who precisely understood that I didn’t want tire rotation service because I had a tire contract elsewhere and that I wanted the air filter I purchased elsewhere to be installed and I would only pay for the install. Also, I wanted the old filter(smile). He graciously noted my requests and after my car was ret’d all of my specifications had been followed.
