Ford is adding a new version of its Bronco SUV with the debut of the 2022 Everglades special edition. It features a mix of existing Bronco features as well as new equipment, like an air intake snorkel that improves its offroad capability.
It made its debut here at the 2022 Chicago Auto Show, so let's take a look at at the features that make it more capable. Bronco Everglade specific features include this gray grill with gloss black lettering for the Bronco name. It also gets a heavy duty front bumper with a winch that's rated up to 10,000 pounds. And it also gets the snorkel that I had mentioned before. It's a first from Ford and it has a unique design where normally you see kind of the front air intake. This one, it has a reversible intake. So you can have this plate here to direct air to the back. Or if the air is cleaner that you're driving through you can switch the plate around and bring air in from the front. One of the other changes that's kind of interesting is that rather than the rounded fender flares that other Broncos get these kind of have a square design and all Everglades come with the Sasquatch package that's available for other Broncos. And the package includes 17 inch wheels with these 35 inch mud terrain tires and a high clearance suspension, and that taken with the snorkel, let the Everglades travel through water that's up to three feet deep according to Ford. The changes inside to the Bronco Everglades aren't as dramatic as what we saw outside but there are some differences from other Bronco models. It has vinyl seats and a rubberized floor for easier cleaning. It also gets the 12 inch touchscreen multimedia system that's available in other Bronco trim levels. And you also see some green accents on the vents and elsewhere in the cabin. The Everglades is powered by a turbocharged 2.3 liter four-cylinder engine, that makes 300 horsepower when it's running on premium fuel. It works with a 10 speed automatic transmission and the SUV's four-wheel drive system has a 67.8 to one crawl ratio for serious off-roading. The Bronco Everglades will be offered in the SUV's four door, body style and it's set to go on sale this summer with a starting price of around $55,000, including the destination charge. That'll make it the second priciest Bronco behind the new for '22 Bronco Raptor. And if you're in an existing reservation holder, you're gonna be able to place an order for it beginning in March.
