Despite car prices starting to level off from pandemic-related record highs, make no mistake: Cars are still expensive. And if you’re trying to get in on (or stay up on) the ongoing all-electric evolution, electric vehicles are typically even more expensive than their gas-only counterparts. To help you expedite your plug-in purchase, we’ve done the legwork to narrow the field to the most affordable electric cars available in Cars.com’s most popular news article of the past week.

Our roster of just shy of a dozen cheap (relatively speaking) EVs features a variety of body styles, including hatchbacks, sedans and SUVs that range in price from just over $29,000 at the low end up to just over $43,000 at the high end (all prices include a destination charge). That’s in addition to increasingly anxiety-reducing driving ranges ranging from 114 miles up to 361 miles. Starting at the inexpensive end, the list of model-year 2024 EVs includes the Nissan Leaf, Mini Cooper, Hyundai Kona Electric, Hyundai Ioniq 6, Fisker Ocean and Tesla Model 3 before wading deeper into the $40,000s.

In other pricing news, we can give you an idea of how much you can expect to spend on a Mazda3 for the 2025 model year — and it might just be less that you would’ve paid for a 2024 if you opt for the new entry-level hatchback version among the 13 available trim choices. The sedan body style offers six of those trim levels, with the base 2.5 S boasting the Mazda3’s lowest price of $25,135 and rising up to just under $37,000 for the 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus. Back to the hatchback, the base 2.5 S opens the bidding at $26,135, while that 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus will run you $1,150 more than the four-door version. The hatch also offers a seventh trim level: the middle-ranging 2.5 S Premium for just under 32 grand.
