CARS.COM — Besides being drop-dead gorgeous, the 2018 Lexus LC 500 and LC 500h have an interesting option: a “glass roof with sunshade.” From the outside, the top (which comes standard) simply looks like a black piece of glass that stylishly gives some contrast to the roof of the LC 500. But upon closer inspection, the roof itself is semitranslucent, and a sunroof-like opening can be popped open from inside the cabin to allow sunlight in.

This feature is starting to gain traction throughout the industry, and I’m a fan. It’s a good way to make the cabin feel larger and more spacious for passengers, especially those in the backseat. Tesla includes a glass roof on the Model S sedan and recently announced it would be an option on the forthcoming Model 3 sedan. It can also be found on the opulent, one-off Rolls-Royce Sweptail.
