We purchased a RAV4 from Scott Argyle

We purchased a RAV4 from Scott Argyle at Toyota Bountiful. He was very helpful and was able to get us exactly what we were looking for. We also appreciate his help in telling us the ins and outs of the vehicle. He also is very interested in making sure we are happy and taken care of.

Repair experience

Went in to have my Sienna serviced. They have very nice waiting area with snacks and activities for young children. The tires needed to be checked, which included turning off the "check tires" indicator light. A man came in to talk to me about turning off the light and gave some long explanation of how it was going to cost $40 to have it turned off; but if that didn't work they would have to do something that somehow included satellites and that would cost $600- but he was pretty sure they could fix the problem with the first solution only costing $40. I looked him square in the eye and told him I was not going to pay $40 to turn a light off. He turned and left. As I drove away, I found that the light was off. I do feel that they were trying to scam me. The only reason I went to this dealer service station was because there were two recall services that needed to be taken care of and we had a key fob that needed to be programed through a dealer. I hope I never have to go back again. They are also continually sending me junk mail even after several attempts of having it stopped.

I had already posted one review. Given the nature of the...

I had already posted one review. Given the nature of the two phone calls received in the last few hours, this is a different and expanded review to give a better explanation of their idea of "customer service". We purchased a 1993 Ford Explorer from Scott Argyle at Toyota Bountiful July 29, 2013. It was listed on multiple internet sites including the information that stated it was 4WD. It's an old car; we did not expect it to be perfect. However, we trusted the salesman and the dealership to be honest. The 4WD switch was still there and still hooked up. The light came on when the "4WD" was turned on. When we got it home and had work done on it the next day we found out that there was no front end differential, no front drive shaft, and no front axles. There is NO WAY this could be 4WD. When I called, Scott was on vacation so I talked to Jason Long, Scott's "Internet Team Manager". After explaining that the car was NOT as described by them in their advertisements we were basically told "you signed---as is". I was hoping this was a simple mistake, but after talking to them they offered NO options to make it right or even fair. This was not a matter of it being there and it not working, there is nothing there. We were told that since all their VINS are auto generated, they could not be held responsible for them not being true. We were told that this was a low profit vehicle (which I'm sure it was), that they couldn't spend time on things making sure that things were accurate. They said they had NO responsibility because of all of their jargon loop holes (and because we TRUSTED them when they said it was 4WD) and we signed the "as is warranty". When asked what I would consider a reasonable solution to this problem, I told them to come and get it. They asked once if we would be OK if they bought it back, they were told yes. But apparently that offer wasn't approved. They didn't want it either Because we considered what they did as negligent, incompetent, or dishonest we put our payment (on our credit card) in dispute status. To us they were in breach of the Utah Deceptive Trade Practices Laws ("...to prevent deceptive, misleading, and false advertising practices and forms in Utah..." (1) Deceptive trade practices occur when, in the course of a person's business, vocation, or occupation that person: (a) passes off goods or services as those of another...representing that goods or services are of a particular standard, quality, or grade, or that goods are of a particular style or model, if they are of another...engaging in any other conduct which similarly creates a likelihood of confusion or of misunderstanding.) Guess they don't consider this as applying to them. By the way, their Odometer Disclosure Statement was off too. NOT by the 100,000 as is possible with older cars, but by 50,000. I pointed that out as another area where their paper work was off, but was told that since this car was over 10 years old, it wasn't necessary for this car and it didn't matter if it was wrong. When we talked to them we told them we had contacted the Better Business Bureau and put the charges on dispute status. I said I guess we will let the CC company figure it out. I also said I would put my experience in the reviews. It seems that was the only time the person on the phone got upset. He didn't want their "near 5" reviews ruined. Even though we still consider their actions as "they weren't concerned about our business, just our money" it was more hassle that it was worth so this morning I called the CC and told them to take these charges out of dispute status. Later this afternoon we got a call asking us about the charges and that the purchaser was going to be arrested if they were not paid. Toyota Bountiful was told that the charges were already reinstated on the card. They were told also told to let us know if things were not cleared by tomorrow to let us know what we needed to do. Within the hour we received another call from them stating that since we put this in dispute status that we would now have to drive back down there (over 3 hours each way) with a Cashier's Check delivered by the end of business tomorrow. I guess they figure they are getting the last laugh. But we traveled over 3 hours each way the last time we bought two NEW cars because we found a salesman we trusted. If he hadn't quit the business, we would still be with him. We will need two new cars again soon. Only one of our six children has their own car so far. We lived in Ogden for over 8 years and still have friends there. We will NOT be going to Toyota Bountiful. I'm sure they will have some neat little reply, lawyers at the ready, but my point is they live up to the saying "buyer beware" and they didn't check to see if what they said or put in writing was accurate and true. If you want a new car, maybe you won't have any problems with this dealership. But if looking for a used car, it became very obvious to us that their paperwork was inaccurate and bottom line was more important than integrity. So "why" the score: 1) Customer Service: All customer service should be good, true excellence shows up when there are problems and they are at least willing to work with you. 2) Quality of Work: Their "auto" description methods are not checked, and they do not hold themselves responsible if they are wrong. Where they got the numbers for the Odometer Statement are anyone's guess. 3) Friendliness: Again this should be good for any sales personnel; to me threatening jail, without even checking to see if payment is restored is excessive. Making us drive 500 miles to deliver a less than $2,000 Cashier's Check with 24 hour notice is vindictive. It has been 10 business days (2 weeks) since the purchase, yes I can see that they would want their money, shoot, we only wanted what they SAID they were selling. 4) Overall Experience: See Above 5) Price: Ok for a 1993 4WD Ford Explorer. Too bad it wasn't really 4WD.

UPDATE: Poor Online Sales Service

My rebuttal to Bountiful Toyota's response was pulled for some reason so here goes again. My offer to Bountiful Toyota was not $10k different than their online price. That would be absurd. They offered me well below blue book on my trade in and actually INCREASED their price quoted for vehicle -- seems like an odd way to negotiate. When it became clear I was hoping for some negotiation, Bountiful Toyota ceased communications. I drove 9 hours roundtrip to clear things up with Clay he couldnt even tell me, after speaking to other sales associates, where the vehicle was or if it was still for sale. Wrong on so many accounts. And there were a lot of emails exchanged, but Bountiful Toyota, please note how long it took between Clay's responses. Very very poor experience.

My overall experience with Toyota Bountiful was very positive. As this is the first vehicle I have purchased in over 11 years I was understandably curious as to how my experience would play out. All my concerns were addressed in a timely manner and I drove out of the dealership with almost the exact truck I was after. There are only two additional items that are currently on order. Once those arrive and are installed I will have the exact truck I was after. I gave high marks above because I have confidence they will not let me down when it comes time to have the additional parts installed.

Great car buying experience! Very responsive!

We recently purchased a new Toyota Sequoia and are extremely happy with Toyota Bountiful! Honestly, we weren't happy with our first sales person but one of their managers jumped in and turned around a potentially poor experience. He personally answered all our questions and was very patient with our decision. He knew his information about he vehicle, responded (day or night), and provided the best price on the initial request. We live in Boise, ID and compared vehicles with dealerships across the Northwest. We literally talked with dealerships in greater Seattle, Spokane, WA, Portland, Salem, Ontario, OR, Pocatello, ID, Boise, and SLC, UT. In the end we came back to Toyota Bountiful who gave us everything we wanted when others would not. We are so happy with our Toyota Sequoia and can't say enough. You all are awesome and I will be back to buy from you on our next auto purchase.

2013 Toyota Tacoma 4X4 Double Cab 2/ JBL and Entun

After a slight hiccup with my first internet sales person, Jeff Christison took over to my delight... Knowledgeable and a gentleman. This is my 3rd time buying from Toyota Bountiful formerly Menlove Toyota. Although I despise the process of buying a new car, kind of like going to the dentist without lidocaine. This was as good as it gets. Do your homework, go in prepared and the rest will be easy.

We had an excellent experience at Bountiful Toyota dealership! After submitting an inquiry about a lease for a Corolla online, we heard back from them the next morning and had an appointment that evening. We arrived and were greeted and helped right away (which believe me is not always the case at all dealers). They had a large selection of Corolla's to choose from which was nice. Once we had selected and test driven the vehicle we wanted, we came back inside to discuss terms. Anyone with children will appreciate this dealer because they have a wonderful children's room with a play area and a television viewing area. They also have free snacks (goldfish, candy, pretzels, popcorn) and free water & soda. We never even once had to listen to our kids saying "when are we leaving" and our kids are 8 and 10. In fact we had to get them out of the playroom so we could leave. There was no high pressure sales, but we were presented with all of our options and learned about everything that was included with our lease. Overall I would say anyone would be happy with this dealer and I highly recommend them!

So they will claim that this is unfortunate etc., my point is they live up to the saying "buyer beware" and don't trust what they say or put in writing.
