Bad Sales Experience
I recently had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Stephan Wade Toyota in St. George, UT, and I must say that it was one of the most disappointing encounters I've ever had with a car dealership. From start to finish, my entire experience was marred by incompetence, poor customer service, and a complete lack of professionalism. To make matters worse, the negotiation process was an absolute nightmare. The sales staff at Stephan Wade Toyota engaged in deceptive tactics. When I questioned unnecessary add-on charges they became defensive and dismissive, refusing to address my concerns or offer any reasonable solutions. In addition, our salesman assured us that our in transit vehicle deposit of $3,000 was fully refundable. However, in the negation process we were refused the return of our deposit and this certainly resulted in the pressure to buy in fear of losing our deposit. In conclusion, my experience with Stephan Wade Toyota was nothing short of a nightmare. From the pushy sales tactics to complete lack of customer service, this dealership left me feeling frustrated, deceived, and completely dissatisfied. I strongly advise anyone considering purchasing a vehicle from Stephan Wade Toyota to think twice and explore other options. There are countless other dealerships that prioritize customer satisfaction and professionalism, and Stephan Wade Toyota is simply not one of them. As far as I am concerned, Stephan Wade sales personnel have put a stain on Toyota's trustworthy reputation. I will never buy another vehicle from Stephan Wade dealerships. I will never buy another Toyota.

DO NOT RECOMMEND
Do not recommend this dealership. Word of advice for anyone looking to finance a vehicle here, please use an online auto calculator while comparing the monthly rates they are showing you. They seemed to fabricate the monthly price with additional warranties and add-ons that I did not ask for. I walked in with full intentions of purchasing a vehicle and trading my car in. I was helped by Gerry, which was a friendly sales man, and said his intentions were to “look out for me and my best interests”. Great sales tactic, I respect it but business is business and he wanted to make money and I wanted a good deal so I looked past all the nice words and salesman gimmick. Gerry was very adamant that i was getting the best deal for my trade in, which i wasn’t since my trade in was valued $2k-$3k more at 3 other dealerships. I told Gerry and the finance manager the price i was looking to get and after 30 mins of back and forth they still low balled me but i was eager to get a new car so i complied reluctantly. Gerry told me once again, “I’m looking out for you”, not true since i was arguing back and forth with both of them about the value. The finance manager comes back and says my rate would be around 13% and showed me $797 monthly rate for 72 months on a $28,800 car. The math wasn’t making any sense. I looked at my auto calculator online and it said $616 for 72 months at 13% interest. Where was the $170 monthly difference coming from? Obviously, i said no. Then I show the manager the calculator I was using and he tells me the math makes sense so he’ll figure it out. Great. Gerry walks me out of his office and into the waiting area so i’d “feel more comfortable”. 60 minutes goes by with no sight of Gerry or the finance manager. I ask the receptionist where Gerry is and she said I’m not sure let me text him. Another 15 minutes goes by and Gerry comes walking in from the front entrance, presumably from his lunch break. Why he couldn’t tell me he had to step out for a bit is weird and unprofessional but I didn’t care enough to make a big deal. Later, nearing the end of my patience level, Gerry comes over to show me the monthly price they worked “so hard” to get me. This time it is for 84 months at $616. An additional year for the monthly rate i was looking at for 72 months according to my auto calculator. I told Gerry, 84 months is out of the question for me, he says “let me see what warranties and add-ons we can take off” then he comes back with $589 for 84 months. I told him i didn’t want 84 months and I told him the math isn’t adding up to my calculations. 84 months should’ve brought the payment down to $550 a month. I told Gerry I was not feeling well about the experience and I’d feel more comfortable walking away. The next day I received a text from Gerry asking if I wanted to proceed with the new car. I told him how I felt about the numbers and it didn’t seem accurate. He said he’d see why we were so far apart. Then I get 7 more credit inquiry notifications! I’m really upset by that because we agreed beforehand that we would only check with a couple banks and that would be it! I didn’t ask them to proceed checking with other banks I just wanted to know why there was a big difference! To my surprise, I received no communication from them after I expressed grief over the additional credit inquiries. This experience has to be one of the worst and most difficult experiences i’ve ever had with a dealership. I am sick to my stomach that they would try to take advantage of me with those differences in numbers. I will not be doing any business with Stephen Wade Toyota. Stephen Wade Toyota, please learn from this experience and do not take advantage of hard working people. Perhaps more transparency from the finance managers and their calculations could be helpful for future sales.

Very disappointed that Stephen Wade has changed their business/sales practices. I have bought several new toyotas, but they won’t help you online now. Only in person. Too far to drive for nothing. Where is Mike Dufresen our old salesman? He can’t come to the phone anymore.
