I recently purchased a used Acura MDX from this Grubbs

I recently purchased a used Acura MDX from this Grubbs Acura dealership. I signed all the papers on Saturday late evening, and they didn’t ask me for the payment, and they promised me that they will deliver the car on next week Wednesday after 3 step verification (for which they are charging $2500). Meanwhile they started the loan process, so thought that I have to clear all payments on Wednesday before receiving car. I called Dealership on Wednesday to know the delivery time and I got shocked with their statement. They sold the car to other customer on Tuesday. And again, I went to Dealership on Thursday to collect all my signed documents. But they apologized and offered me other used MDX. And I paid the advance amount on the same day and they started the loan process, they included $2500 for 3 step verification. After two days I picked up the car from the dealership and headed to home. But on the way I got some knocking sounds from front left tire, immediately I headed back to dealership. After investigation, they found out its major issue and ordered the parts. They covered the charges for this repair with my warranty vendor (I paid $4500 for car warranty since it is used card). After one month, they updated me that the service is done and I can pick up the car, now I found out the door handle got broken and car is vibrating when I apply break. Really very disappointed with this dealership and suggesting all of not go to this Dealer. 1. They sold the car which I already signed 2. They covered the service charges for car which I am yet to take. 3. They charged $2500 for 3 step verification, but just they did car wash, no other checks were done. Exactly after 50 days, I got Transmission System Problem and Blind Spot Info System Problem. Please find attached pics as proof. Now I regret myself for buying the car from Grubbs Acura. And my sincere suggestion would is, don’t go with Grubbs Acura for used cars, if you buy any used card from this dealership, you will definitely regret like me.

Acura should pull their franchise, as this is one of the shadiest dealers I've dealt with in 40 years of car buying. Absolutely don't bother, they try old school high pressure tactics, try to charge for 'certifying' and "activating" a CPO warranty. They won't do business over the web, which is how I purchased a 3 Acura vehicles I currently own. If interested in an Acura, go to Goodson or Park Place, where they will give you a price and that's that. I should have known better but as Grubbs was only 15 minutes from home, figured I'd give them a shot....4 hours of my life I won't get back. In contrast, both Goodson and Park Palce, we agreed on price over email/phone, walked into dealership to sign paperwork, in/out in about an hour....Grubbs wouldn't even take a deposit over the phone. If I were Acura Corporate I'd pull Grubbs from their dealership list, as they don't represent the brand well and treat customers very poorly. Don't waste your time with this scam of a dealership!

Consumer response

LOL - I tried to contact the GM of Grubbs Acura to share my experience, they wouldn't even tell you who that is.... Anyone else notice all the bad reviews they receive, and Grubbs' generic response is always "We are disappointed to learn of your experience here at Grubbs Acura, but will take this opportunity to improve." If you buy a car there, you probably got a raw deal, they won't try to improve, they just pray on those who don't know any better.

Buyer beware

Poor customer service . Deceptive trade practices . Buyer beware . Used car was not serviced prior to sell , had serious mechanical issues . Grubbs ignores calls and emails .

I have no patience to play games

Let me tell you about my experience with Grubbs Acura in Grapevine, TX. As I do not want to waste anyone’s time, including my own, I will email offers and provide all pertinent info. In this case I provided a drive off number (or OTD) including taxes and fees, but not my payoff. I also provided my car info, vin, mileage, car I was looking at purchasing, etc. The response that I received was that my offer was not unreasonable and could I come in to get a better appraisal on my vehicle. Against my better judgement, I showed up. Curiosity got the better of me that maybe dealers are more willing to deal now. Nothing personal, but from the get go the salesman asked me questions that I already sent to him in writing, so the first impression was not good. then I have to listen to the whole routine, to which I interrupted, you have all the info, I am a big boy and I understand that “no” is an answer. I saw no need to look at the car until we had a deal, but I indulged him anyway. Now we’re back inside, and I think he went back and forth to the managers at least 4 times, so they are really more to blame for the BS than the salesman. They had the drive off, I said trade only no additional money down, etc. Now salesman comes back and says I got your number. As I am reviewing the document, I see it includes the payoff (OK) and then says $4500 down after I stated no money down. Salesman responds, oh, I guess he forgot to take that off. What am I, a F’in Schmuck. Instead of M!@#$% F!@#$%^ the salesman as I would ordinally do for such behavior, I apologized for wasting his time. He said not at all, I tis his job, but not a good job to waste mine. They could have told me “no” in the email thread.

Find another dealership!!

Let me warn you about this dealership. I purchased a preowned vehicle and paid in full for it. Part of the agreement was to fix a couple of things (small dent, window, oil pan leak) after a month they called me to tell me my vehicle was ready. When I showed up I was pulled into a back office and without an apology not only was my vehicle not ready, I was informed my car (that was already paid in full) had been sent to auction, but they had a replacement for me to look at. After looking at it I had agreed to take the car when I was told it would be a $1000 more, after refusing to pay anymore money, the salesman left and came back and agreed to let me have to vehicle for what I had already paid. While I was left waiting for 45 minutes the salesman came back and now wants $2000 more for the vehicle, at which point I requested my money back and was told it would be 5-7 days. 3 days later after their attempt to extort more money out of me they magically found my original vehicle, when I informed them I just wanted my money back, they were very short with me, but ultimately refunded my money in full.

If you're going to sell a vehicle to this dealership save

If you're going to sell a vehicle to this dealership save the trouble and sell to someone else. Been waiting almost a full month and have yet to get a check for my vehicle. I was told I would get a check in a week and over three weeks later still no check. When I spoke to manager he said it takes 14 days from the time they pay off my vehicle for them to get a title and then they cut a check. They paid off vehicle almost immediately after I sold them the vehicle and sign all paper work. Have had zero communication as to when my check will be mailed. If this is the way they do business when buying a vehicle from a consumer, I can only imagine the headache you will have when buying one from them. I'm currently in the process of buying another Acura but will not be with them.

We are disappointed to hear that you did not have a more positive experience with us at Grubbs Acura. We regret that you weren't satisfied with your experience. We will investigate why the pay off took so much longer then it should have.

My husband and I recently "purchased" a used Acura MDX

My husband and I recently "purchased" a used Acura MDX from this dealership. We paid for the car in its entirety upfront with a personal check which was cashed within 24 hours of us writing it, and signed all the paperwork. 3 weeks later, they let us know the repairs that were agreed upon were completed and they made an appointment for us to pick up the car. My husband arrives to find they auctioned the car off, the car for which we HAVE ALREADY PAID, signed all the paperwork, and added to our insurance in anticipation of taking possession of the vehicle at this appointment they set. But wait, they have a similar make/model that he can get for the same price that we've already paid. Then, suddenly, it's going to be just another 1k more. Then it's 2k more. After 3 hours of them continuing to mislead and promise they're going to "make it right," my husband informs them he wants a full refund now. Apparently, they can't make that happen. It will be 5-7 days because they have to talk to accounting. So they have had thousands of dollars for a month and we have neither the car nor our money back as of now. This is the most unprofessional and dishonest experience we have ever encountered while buying a vehicle.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your honest feedback. This experience is not in accordance with how we operate, we are investigating to understand more of what happened and how we can help and make sure this will not happen again.

Friendly people but poor overall experience.

Friendly people but poor overall experience. Vehicle was not as clean as expected and then had BIG surprise when salesperson presented numbers which included $2495 up charge for “dealer fee” and another $2495 to activate the Acura certification. Totally bogus charges that added nearly $5K to the price listed on website! They eventually dropped price $3K and even offered another $1K reduction as I was heading out the door. Felt like very sleazy sales process and would never return to this dealership. BTW, bought a certified MDX from another DFW Acura dealer the next day for the price advertised on their website with no added dealer charges!

High pressure salesmanship, add-on fees, constant numbers

High pressure salesmanship, add-on fees, constant numbers manipulation and fatigue made my experience less than satisfactory. After test driving a used 2019 Acura RDX, we started talking numbers. Along with the advertised price, I was shown an additional $2500 for "detailing" and $2500 for "CPO warranty". However, the listing said the warranty was "included". After stating I didn't want to pay the extra fees, they removed the "CPO" fee and said other dealers would charge for the "detailing" fee too. I expressed I didn’t want to pay the fees, and I wanted to look at another vehicle at a neighboring dealership with a higher trim package. They then added more pressure to keep me from leaving the showed me a fully loaded 2022 RDX and quoted me a price. Later they added fees on top of the price I was so burnt out from the multiple rounds of number crunching mind games, I reluctantly decided to move forward with the 2022 RDX. Add the additional pressure during the financing process, I was too exhausted to make sense of any of it. Assessing everything over the next few days, I essentially paid the advertised price for the 2022 plus an additional $2500-$3000. Moral of the story: don't feel pressured into making decisions on the spot. Walk out and think things over with a clear head. I will never do business this way again.
