Drivetrain lifetime warranty is a joke.

Drivetrain lifetime warranty is a joke. Buyer beware. Bought my 2013 sienna from Olathe Toyota with around 49,000 miles on it. Had state inspection on my 2013 Toyota Sienna and they noticed evidence of oil leaks. Took it into Adams Toyota in Lees Summit and had them diagnose it and submit work under warranty. They called me back and said they contacted Olathe Toyota about filing claim under warranty, Olathe said was void because i did not follow all manufacturer service schedule on 4 things. 1. I did not have the tires rotated and balanced at proper intervals, 2. I did not replace the spark plugs at 120,000 miles, 3. I did not replace the air filters every 15,000 miles, and 4. I did not get oil changed according to service schedule. I explained to them I have had the tires rotated and balanced on schedule for the last 8 years when I had new tires put on, not sure how tire rotation could affect an oil leak on the oil pan, I showed them my paperwork for oil changes on schedule with under the 10,000 miles on the oil change with the synthetic oil, there was one oil change that was less than a week over the year interval because of a holiday and could get it into get oil changed, oil levels were always good as noted on the pre inspection for oil changes. Maybe Olathe Toyota can explain how not getting tires balanced and rotated the first 3 years I owned the car, caused the oil pan to leak 10 years after owning the van? Or maybe they can explain how not replacing cabin air filters caused the oil pan to leak? Or maybe explain how not changing the spark plugs at 120,000 miles(van has 132,000 miles on it now), caused oil pan gasket to leak? Or finally number 4 reason for denying the warranty, how getting the oil changed at 368 days instead of 365 days, while still under the mileage for oil changes, caused the oil pan gasket to leak? I would also like to draw attention to the Magnuson Moss warranty act that states you can only deny warranty work if there is a direct and clear connection between the failure to follow the maintenance schedule and the resulting damage. I would Not recommend these guys. As long as you car has no issues you will be fine, but if an issue arises they will not stand behind it.

It appears that you are talking about the complimentary Lifetime Limited Warranty that you were provided for free with the vehicle at the time of purchase. The FIRST paragraph of the warranty paperwork you were given and had to sign at time of purchase states "MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS- In order to keep your Lifetime Limited Powertrain Warranty Valid, you must follow the maintenance procedures listed below. * Your vehicle must receive all scheduled maintenance as recommended by the manufacturer's owners manual. * you must keep copies of all maintenance and repair orders Kenny Thomas Olathe Toyota is committed to ensuring your vehicle is properly maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations, however it is ultimately your responsibility to retain copies of your maintenance records in order to assure your compliance with maintenance record retention and assure eligibility of coverage of this Lifetime Limited Powertrain Warranty." We put all that information in the first paragraph of the warranty in bold words and have you read and sign acknowledging that you agree and understand what is expected of you to maintain the warranty before you take your vehicle so there is no mistakes. You are also provided a copy of this warranty. Most of our customers appreciate our transparency from the day you buy the vehicle so they know what is expected, unfortunately we cannot force you to follow the factory recommendation but you acknowledged with your signature that if you did not, your warranty would be invalid. There are many customers that find great value in our complimentary, no cost to you, warranty. While we can certainly understand the frustration of your warranty item not being covered unfortunately you chose to not follow the warranty paperwork you signed or the manufacturer's recommendation for maintenance of every 6 months or 5,000 miles whichever comes first for tire rotations and fluid inspections and every 12 months or 10,000 miles for oil changes if you are using synthetic oil (every 5K or 6 months if not). Those are recommendations set forth by the manufacturer Toyota, not Olathe Toyota, we simply just require that you follow the factory recommended maintenance schedule.

It's always easy working with the staff there.

v\We purchased a used car in February for our teen driver from Kevin Karlin. We were assured it went through a rigorous inspection process. Until last week, we were happy with the purchase. As she was driving in rush hour traffic on the way to school, the right axle just fell off of the car! We had it towed to our mechanic, after the tow driver told us he had never seen anything like it, and our mechanic said it was long term damage that did not just happen since we owned the car. After a week of trying to reach the dealership's used and general sales manager, (Paul Williams and Kenny Glasco, our sales rep is no longer there it appears) and no calls back, I demanded the GM be called out of a meeting today. What happened to customer service? There was no resolution to our problem, just an "I'm sorry, I don't check landline voicemails." and "I'll do some research." Not sure what research is going to be conducted. Honestly, I didn't expect anything to come of it, but I at least expected a call back. Our fault for buying a car without a warranty, but you can bet we will not make the mistake of purchasing from here again.

Mrs. Giammanco called the dealership Saturday September 14th 2024 around 9:30 am. I was informed by receptionist that there was an upset customer on the phone and I needed to take call. I took call and listened to Mrs. Giammanco explained the situation. I did apologize to Mrs. Giammanco for not returning her call left on my office phone (call received Wednesday September 11th at 3:30 pm). The purchase of the 2014 Honda Accord with 117,923 miles was completed on February 2, 2024, the warranty on the vehicle was a Limited Powertrain Warranty of 30 days or 1,000 miles. The issue with the axel happened sometimes the beginning of September or end of August 2024 not sure. The phone call on Wednesday, that did go to my voice mail, was the first that I would have had a change to do anything with the vehicle, however we did not get the opportunity to look at the vehicle therefor, i cannot confirm nor deny any of the issues that they had with the vehicle.

Consumer response

Yes, we bought a used car with limited warranty that had some miles. Yes, I understand things happen and things failing can't be predicted, like the starter we had to replace on September 9th. However, my concern is with a piece of the car that rusted away until it broke that my teenage daughter was driving. That is something that SHOULD be caught on inspection according to a tow driver and a mechanic. Since the car was not under warranty and seeing your response to the situation, I know bringing it to Olathe Toyota would have done nothing for us, as they don't stand behind used cars that are sold. Also in regards to the response from the dealership, who I can assume is Kenny. I actually left 4 voicemails, and I sent one email. The email was sent on Saturday, September 7th. I left a voicemail with Paul on September 8th and 9th. I also tried to call back in the afternoon of the 9th and left a message for Kenny. I then called back AGAIN on September 11, as stated in Kenny's reply, when I finally demanded to speak with someone.

Carlos is the rudest salesman I've ever dealt with in my life, he had zero interest in helping me and acted very smug and condescending. I would ask questions about features of the car, he seemed irritated with the questions and barely provided any helpful response. When the test drive was over Carlos told me to put the car back exactly where I found it, he didn't offer to let me park it in front of the dealership like every other car salesman accommodates anywhere else I've ever been. Carlos told me to go inside and find a table while he parked the car, he took a good 15 minutes to get back into the building to go over numbers with me. When I asked Carlos for a paper breakdown of the numbers he acted irritated with the request as he thought it was good enough to talk numbers verbally. I asked Carlos to talk to the manager about a better price, he refused to speak with his manager and started getting snippy with me regarding the price. He also mis-quoted me a kellyblue book value during the conversation. I see that Carlos has negative reviews going back over 2 years, I wonder why this dealership allows him to ruin their reputation? If you must buy from Olathe Toyota, avoid Carlos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent experience with Gevon.

Excellent experience with Gevon. Clean Professional. Respectful. Spoke to my wife like she was important. We had departed another Dealers lot when the sales person was totally focused on me (husband) and not the wife. Great follow up and attentive to our inquiries. Yes we bought a vehicle.

My wife and I first met Clayton about 3 weeks ago and were very impressed with his demeanor, knowledge and overall attitude. We had looked around at other dealerships and found no one we felt looked out for our best interest and wanted to help us as much as Clayton. We took a while to reach our decision on our purchase but Clayton was as patient as he was helpful and he totally blew us away with his salesmanship and personality. Great job Clayton and THANK YOU! If we could we would give you more than 5 stars Dave and Lynn Hargis

This was my first time buying a car by myself.

This was my first time buying a car by myself. I had a wonderful experience from start to finish. Gevon is an amazing young man. He is very kind, personable, friendly, and knowledgeable about the Toyota products. He was extremely accommodating and put me at ease when going through this process. Victoria was great as well. She was very patient with me as she helped me with the Toyota App and answered all of my questions about the functions of the car. Daniel was also very friendly when it came to payment and warranty options. Overall, I would highly recommend Olathe Toyota for first time car buyers!

If I could give negative stars I would!

If I could give negative stars I would! They are con artists. They tried to submit several fraudulent insurance claims against me on the loaner vehicle I had but luckily I was prepared and did video walk around on the vehicle before I dropped it off. Do not take your vehicle here terrible people run the service department at this dealership.

We had the privilege of working with Gevon and it was very informative and smooth. He had an awesome personality and was very easy to work with. Would highly recommend him as your car salesman. We absolutely love the corolla we purchased. The car was clean and ready to go. Our only complaint was that when we picked the car up, the gas tank was not full. In all our years of buying cars, this was the first time that had happened and with the cost of a car, this should be an automatic perk that the dealership gives to the customer.
