2019 Chevrolet Bolt EV consumer reviews

Admittedly, I am not well-educated about electric vehicles and didn't understand the significant difference between the Bolt and Tesla. Chevy claims that the Bolt can charge approximately 40% in 30 minutes--not even close. It takes an hour and over 2 hours on a fast charger to charge fully. Also, the range has consistently been 75% of claimed range. True, it's winter, but I live in a pretty moderate climate (Pacific NW). Since I can't charge at home, this car has been a nightmare. There is only 1 public charger that charges by kWh in my city, paying by the minute with such a slow charge would be extremely expensive. I tried to take it back within the first 100 miles because the sales people did not seem knowledgeable; they didn't alert me that it would be impossible to commute to my job (86 miles away) and back with this car. No luck with a return. I'm stuck. Now I've put my camper van back on the road for when I want to do something that challenges the (poor) range. Not exactly green, but what else can I do?

I love this Bolt EV. It drives like a sports car. Handles better than any car I have ever driven. Yes, they could have spent a little more on carpet, etc., but I absolutely love the quietness and way it drives. Only thing missing is no garage door opener. Otherwise, awesome car.

Love this Bolt. Style and performance is excellent. Lots of high tech features. It has great charging range. And very sporty design. Would recommend this car to everyone looking for an electric automobile.

I have had two quality issues with my Bolt. The first was the entertainment system, which would constantly freeze. Luckily GM actually honored their warranty and replaced. The second was an issue with the charging port. My car just stopped charging stranding me 40 miles from home. They ultimately said this was my issue because one of the pins was bent, which cost $1,300 to fix. It seems like the GM engineers should be able to design a charging port that lasts longer that a year. Additionally, the mileage claims are exaggerated. I am consistently getting only 170 miles on the freeway (in California). I really wanted to like the Bolt but just too quality and performance issues.

This car is exactly what I wanted - a 100% EV to drive around the city. I haven't had any issues with the range - even on cold Minnesota winter days, I can get over 150 miles range. It's fun to drive, I like how the Android Auto app connects my phone to the car so I can listen to Audible books and automatically get directions to where I'm going, it's a breeze to park and all the safety features are great. I'm happy.

After doing a moderate amount of research I decided to take the plunge and purchase an EV. We are both retired, most of our trips are in town and less than 30 miles round trip. I think this car will be perfect. So far I'm very happy. The car handles well, the acceleration is great, it's plenty comfortable for the short trips and it's even roomy enough for my two 6' sons in the back (though they'd rather be driving it...)

The air conditioning and heating consumes a lot of power this is important if you live in a cold or hot climate (one star) Sorry

Amazing car. Fast, no gas, great tech, quiet, luxurious at the Premier level, and roomy. The only things I’d improve on are the seats (I think everyone says this), and the cargo space, which when the seats are up are a bit disappointing.

I've owned a Bolt before. I bought another one after an accident. It's safety features have me sold. I will buy another Chevy Bolt if the need arises

This EV makes all the difference in driving. The regeneration component is brilliant, it maneuvers well up and down our curvy mountain road, and is just plain fun to drive. Going electric was a no brainer.
