Chevrolet Cobalt SS Turbo Coupe

I bought the car in December of 2010, and I don't regret the purchase whatsoever. It's been very reliable, especially considering the fact that I drive well over 60 miles a day for work everyday. The 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 has smooth power delivery, though I'd recommend installing a K&N intake for a boost in power and better sound out of the turbo. The exterior design is awesome, but interior-wise, you can tell Chevy aimed cheap. The seats aren't very comfortable and the fact that there isn't an armrest can be annoying at times. The SS comes with a Pioneer subwoofer in the trunk. It's not very powerful, but it does offer a decent amount of bass. The Cobalt has very decent trunk space. The 5-speed manual transmission isn't as short as I'd like it to be. In fact, it can be really clunky at times. If you're in the market for a less than $20k coupe (or even a sedan) and you've been thinking about cars like the RX-8 or Civic Si, look no further. The Cobalt SS Turbo is the best bang for your buck. We're talking about a turbocharged, 260 hp, 260 ft-lb of torque, ~2900 lb, 5-seater that can average anywhere between 23-26 mpg in the city & over 30 on the highway. Just drop a K&N intake in it and you're set. The car doesn't need too many aftermarket mods in order to be quick. Heck, it's already really quick from the factory!

SS for Middle Aged

This car is a beauty. Don't take it from me. I used to have an 05' SS but wasn't a good owner to it. The car runs beautiful if you take care of it. This is definitely the car you want if your looking for a sporty look with some of the gas saving features. Thats why I am looking forward to this 09' SS as an upgrade. Take care of the car and the car will take care of you. Simple as that.

09 Cobalt

I had a Cavalier before, and it was basically like a tank, so I thought I'd stay with Chevy and get a newer Cobalt. I like everything about it. It's nice to look at, fun to drive, and has everything I could possibly need. My sister wants one now, too.

Poor man's Porsche very rare!

With Brembos and LNF upgrades will keep up with Camaro ss , Corvettes, and Audi tt for half the price. It still can eke out 35 mpg by feathering the gas. Only 400 4drs were produced in 2009 and only 14 Rally yellows out all most were Red Get one and drive safely

2009 Chevrolet Cobalt SS Coupe

I own a 2009 Chevy Cobalt SS Coupe. It has a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 with 260 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. I average between as low as 23 to as high as 26.7 mpg in 100% city driving. I understand that this car is only offered with a 5-speed manual transmission. I'm a manual-type of guy, but this car's transmission sucks. The transmission feels extremely clunky! The interior is awful! I have two tone interior (black/gray), and it is quite possibly the ugliest color combo I've ever seen in a car, especially since my exterior is navy. The stereo head looks atrocious! I think I'm going to get an aftermarket stereo at some point in this car's ownership. It is offered with an XM radio, but I cheaped out and avoided it. I use my iPod instead. NOTE: This means their is an auxiliary connection available. The stereo system itself has nice bass to it. I like it a lot, seriously! There is a subwoofer in the trunk of the Cobalt SS. It's not extremely powerful, but I don't play music loudly anyway. My "bump loud music all day, everyday" days ended after graduating high school. The rear has very limited leg room, which bothers my passengers. I honestly could care less. I'm never back there. Chevy's turbocharged demon is insanely quick, especially considering it's still ONLY a 4-banger. The top speed is 160 mph-- I've never tried reaching it, and I suggest if you really cherish life, you avoid attempting it as well. The trunk is spacious. That's all I have to say about it. The exterior of the car looks nice in my honest opinion. The only thing that bothers me is the boy racer wing, though it does compliment the aggressive looks of the SS coupe. There are large arches in the fenders that make them look beautiful, and the factory wheels' designs look good so there's no reason to go aftermarket. I bought mine used, so I'm assuming it's the previous owner's terrible ownership that makes my car not so reliable, but I wouldn't know either way. I don't personally know anybody else who owns a Cobalt SS. Overall, the car's performance makes it worth a try, but if you're the type of person who pays a lot of attention to the interior of the car, stay away from this vehicle. If I could do it all over again, I probably would have gone with an entirely different vehicle.

Much better car than I expected

Wanted a second inexpensive car for our daughter to use. We also wanted a car with front and side airbags. We found a 2009 Cobalt with stick shift for a good price. My wife and I let our daughter use our minivan until she got use to the stick shift. After using the Cobalt for 2 weeks, we did not want to give it back. The car handles great. It the quietest car we have had in 30 years. The fit and finish is excellent. The Cobalt goes forever on a tank of gas. The car has a lot more room on the inside than mid size cars we have had in the past. I would recomend the Cobalt to anyone looking for a used car.
