I have loved our truck without a doubt for many years, always dependable and reliable. I am definately a chevy person to begin with, but recently my family and I were in a pretty horrific wreck. Both of my children were in the car, my husband and myself. We were hit from the side, the woman in a full size toyota hit us going around 40. It was enough of an impact to make us do a 180, and go 300 feet from where we initially were when we were hit. Had that truck not held up so well in the accident my son and I would of either ended up in the hospital or worse. We all luckily were able to walk away from the accident without more than just a sore neck. I will never buy another vehicle, I am stuck on my silverado for life!

Have 40K on truck now. Been to Alaska and back, even the Yukon in March on the Alcan. Did install Eaton posi-traction rear end, which is darn near as good as "4WD". Put 700# of gravel in back and never got stuck. Got as HI as 23 MPG with Wyoming non-ethanol gas.....makes me wonder why I only get 20 MPG with ethanol gas at BEST! TRUE STORY! Must have been Cheney! General Ameritrac tires not vey good....drove to the limit at 35K and replaced.

2008 2wd WT 4.3 engine 3.25 rear. Bought a basic truck and am very happy with purchase. Truck gets 18mpg in town and @ 20 mpg on hwy....I don't have a heavy foot. Put seat covers on, as i fish a lot and wanted to protect seats, but lint was a factor b4 the seat covers. Tranny shifts smooth once warm, but can delay on corners. Have Leer canopy which looks great, but increased wind noise and did 0 for mileage. Had to put mudflaps on as it kicks up a lot of dirt on side. Used Huskey custom flaps which fit perfectly but cost $70. Truck handles GREAT and is the best of 7 trucks I have owned.

Great vehicle. I will keep this one until it dies. It has everything I want and need. Awesome power and durability. Not just a driveway truck.

Recently bought a 2008 Crew Cab LTZ. 5.3 w/ a 3.72 rear end for towing our Jayco Travel trailer. Traded my 1999 extended Cab. Had an 02 prior to that. By far this is the best Silverado I've owned. The truck has the best ride I've ever felt and handles like no other truck I've drove. Love the fact it has driver seat and mirror memory and can be programed for two drivers. I'm just under 6 foot and my wife is 5'3". My only two complaints are: 1 the center console. It is a big, deep pit that is hard to keep things organized. Second. Had to put mud flaps on right away as the tires do throw a bit of dirt onto the sides of the rig. This truck came with the Z85 trailer/handling suspension. I put my trailer onto it and it only squatted the rear end two inches. On my last truck I had to have air bags installed to level the load.(Anybody want to buy a set of air bags?) GM went out of it's way to build the best truck out there today! On average I'm getting 18 combined MPG. This is truly the "Cowboys Caddy"

Bought the cheapest model around- no a/c - no options at all. What a great truck. Comfort- ride excellent. V6 is adequate- pulls about 15 mpg city...maybe 20mpg on freeway. Plenty of power. I traded an 05 W/T for this- and am happy. Cloth seats wipe clean easily, rubber mats clean easily (I am an HVAC mechanic) 2 complaints- head hits headliner upon entry (I'm 6'2") and door locks hard to reach once inside.

This truck drives and handles like a dream. Both the interior and exterior are beautifully designed. The options of the Z71 package are excellent - I love the heated black leather seats. Also, ONStar and XM radio being embedded in the vehicle is just great. The 4X4 option worked great in our last huge blizzard - I had to go down to 4-low and it operated seamlessly. Everything about it fits my wishes and wants. I love the side mirrors with the directional blinkers on them!

Bought my 1500 Crew, LT, 4.8L, 4x4 brand new two years ago and I'm still in love with her. I wanted a simple truck that was comfortable, reliable, durable, and can get the job done. It's definitely that and more. From hauling a trailer to a 600mi highway trip, from rain to 2.5 ft of snow, this truck handled everything like a champ. No race car, but has plenty of horses for hauling or just to open up on an empty highway. The 4x4 outperformed virtually all other vehicles on a highway covered with 3 inches of jagged ice at 45 mph - I even thought about putting it on cruise control :) Almost 20K miles on her now and not a single problem. Too many good things to say about this truck to list here. Only complaints are that there are no retractable cupholders in the dash (like 07-08 Toyota Tundra) and no roof compartment for sunglasses.

These are Great Vehicles

Have owned several Chevy pickups (1985, 1991, 1995, 2003, 2008) and except for having to replace a water pump on the 2003 at about 60,000 miles, I have not had any mechanical problems with any of them. The 2008 pickup rides very smooth and is noticeably better than the previous generation pickups. I really like this truck. As a farmer I drive on a lot of dirt & gravel roads, some places where there are no roads so the truck gets put to the test. Power with the 5.3 engine is more than adequate. Gas mileage is about as shown on the window sticker but only occasionally to I get the 18mpg highway, usually 15-17, but then again I drive a lot off of paved highways.
