Better off in a junkyard

Honestly if I could give it negative 5 stars I would. I bought this 2013 Ford escape SE used in September 2018. Had 59,000 miles on it and price seemed good. I should have taken the test drive as an Omen of what was to come. First it overheated on me. No biggie, was just low on coolant. Added coolant and that was that. 3 weeks later, overheats again. Strange. Check coolant level, its low again. Ok, add coolant again, everything is fine. 3 weeks later, same thing again. It became apparent at this point my car is losing coolant and there no physical evidence of any leaking. Minor annoyances that can be overlooked. (And no, the head is not cracked) then, about once a month, the electric power steering assist faults. Turn car off, turn back on it's fine. Then, random pieces of trim decide to loosen or fall off (Ford is blaintly lieing about their build quality) fast forward to 2 months ago and at around 70,000 miles, the engine constantly stalls out on me. Scanner says low fuel pressure in the fuel rail. I've asked a technician if anyone else has this problem, and he said no, which I know is a flat out lie. Tens of thousands of these were made, and I'm the only one with this problem? Come on, I'm not that dumb. And now a new problem was come up. About 2 days ago I get a message saying brake light bulb fault. Easy fix. Replace both brake light bulbs, and I'm still getting a bulb fault message. Unfortunately I cannot trade my car due to negative equity and my credit. Aside from a fairly comfortable ride and decent gas mileage, its absolute junk. This is my 3rd and final Ford product. And my first 2 fords were junk as well.

so Many very costly repairs

Love the drive and look unfortunately what you need most from the car is for it to be reliable coolant issues Now power steering just went out while I was driving I’m very disappointed I’m reading about all these cars recalled for the same issues Fords escapes fusions and explorers I’m still making payments fixing costly repairs very frustrated the lady I bought it from said she had coolant issues but they were fixed nope still there very very disappointed this is my 2nd Ford Escape I will never buy another ford

Recall after recall

This car has had recall after recall. Latest fun thing is that the AC quits working after a short drive. Wonderful in the Texas heat.

I will never buy another Ford again

Had to replace the whole engine because the block cracked due to the failing coolant system. $4000 to replace. Then the information screen above the steering wheel went out while it was being fixed at the dealership and they wanted another $700 to replace the LED screen. Dealership also took five weeks to get car back to us. Right front blinker went out and replaced bulb, twice. The dealership said it would be AT LEAST $500 to take apart the front assembly because they don’t know what was wrong with it. This is the worst car we’ve ever owned. Ford didn’t take any responsibility for the coolant system even though the previous year was recalled for the same reason. Never again.

Tired of being stranded

First off... I was sold the 2013 Escape. Then they asked me what color I wanted. I chose one they had to order. The one I test drove and made the deal on had every stinking possible thing available in it. Mine had nothing. I was told I would have full coverage on everything on my car for 100k miles and 10 years... of course when I go to use it that was a comPLETE lie. The salesman was a xxx so I asked for another one. He was advising me so he could make a sale that I didn't need to get full coverage insurance and didn't need uninsured motorist and other things... i finally just went to the managers desk and said get me someone else this guy is an idiot! It's pretty comfortable but small. Can't get hardly anything in it for trips or working in the yard etc. Interior design is ok. The seats get locked up in the back all the time. They'll be stuck for months at a time so my son has to ride in the front seat vs back seat like he should. Then just one day out of the blue the stupid thing will pop back open and set up properly. Sometimes it'll pop open again and wont' stay locked in place so just have to put it back and try again tomorrow. The AC/Heat in this car is the worst i've ever had. It WILL NOT blow air on you at all it will only block it up in the dash. Terrible design whoever came up with that. Speakers were shaking around in the dash so had to have that fixed and of COURSE "I" am responsible for paying a 100.00 deductible for something that would only cost me 100.00. Love the color of my car and the design looks of the outside are pretty nice. It was advertised on every commercial everywhere that every single one of these year/model of my car had a thing you could put your foot under it to open the back tailgate door... wasn't on mine. Performance tired of being left stranded! Need to have an option for a zero on this category. The back windshield wiper turns on at random times it's a piece of crap, then the little button on the end of the turn signal is something you'll hit all the time and have to completely avoid. Went in to get this fixed and they couldn't get it to "randomly" turn on for them.. so the wiper that keeps flopping off of it because it turns on when it's dry keeps rubbing on a dry window and wore it down. So I took it in to get it fixed they AGAIN charged me a 100.00 deductible and it was not fixed... plus charged me 18.00 for a stupid replacement wiper. I griped about that and they removed the charges. i've seen several others of the same make/model with the back wiper duct taped so it won't move... guess it's all of them that have this issue. Door locks are always screwed up even after getting stupid recalls done never seen so many recalls done on a car. Have had the door handles all completely replaced again and again. More deductibles! To get the key into the ignition you almost have to lean down under the wheel to get it in the ignition the way it's set up. If you're ever in a situation where you need safety immediately you're screwed. DUMB design. Then the stupid locks have been messed up so many times it's stupid. Not sure how many times I would have to open my door and crawl across the car to let my son in and the other way around he'd have to crawl in and let me inside the car, because it's JUST far enough to the other side you cant' just reach it with your hand you have to lean all the way to the other side of the car... supposedly they fixed the locks and now a week later the entire car is dead. Can't lock it or unlock anything except the drivers side door. That's awesome to make a car that cannot lock or unlock unless the electronics are working. Another design flaw. Was at a friend's house the other day. Put the car in reverse to back up, backed up... tried to put it in drive and it was stuck in reverse, couldn't do a thing. Had to spend all night worrying about it sitting there stuck in reverse then the car battery died and couldn't even lock the doors so now it's stuck sitting in the street in the dark somewhere else and can't lock it. It was fixed but I had to pay for a deductible because that happened. Won't buy anymore cars with the deductible crap. You want a car sold you fix the crap that goes wrong. Reliability. NEGATIVE 10. Won't get another one, probably wont' get another ford and that's about all I've ever had. Very Extremely Disappointed. Not reliable, not safe, and will cost you 100.00 deductible every few months. No longer a Ford Girl!

2013 but new for me.

I bought this car because I needed a safer car than my 2004 Saturn View. I drove other cars at the dealer but my research always brought me back to the Ford Escape for the money and features. The car drives perfect with plenty of power, great gas mileage, and very comfortable and good looks. My only negative is the mirrors are small and the rear view is limited. Overall I am very happy with this car and would recommend it to anyone looking for a safe car at a reasonable price

Nice and comfortable, fun!

So far so good, wish it would get better gas mileage. Enjoying the sun roof and great features. It will meet my needs and expectations.
