Piece of junk! I have been a loyal ford owner of 3 F-150's This is the worst. The computer has been "reflashed" and replaced. The engine was rebuilt at 50,000. The A/C quit working, then the HVAC system as a whole has quit. the radio will shut it self off occasionally, the rear doors dont close, and the truck wont start when the temp drops below freezing. the engine clatters like a diesel I have the 5.4 and it feels like i am running on seven cylinders (very weak) and finally the steering wheel shakes sometimes violently when driven down the interstate. (i go the speed limit) dealer says this is a common complaint and NORMAL!!! I have been told twice now when i have taken this truck in for repairs that they never seen that particular problem before and dont know how to fix it !?! PLEASE DONT BUY!! you will regret it like i am.

Better than I than expected.

After thinking about buying a friends 03 f150 I settled on a 05 4x2 lariat. Best thing I ever did. I have been very happy with the appearence as well as the realiablity. It is very stylish and my wife enjoys driving it as well. Plan on upgrading it with the 08 navigation radio to keep it looking stock. A great buy.

It a nice truck but its a pain to maintain

the truck runs good and has great power but after the limited waranty the truck was bouncing all over the place in the freeway, at about 44k miles had the brakes done and has not been the same since the abs brake light turns on and the brake pedal just locks up for a while have to stop with distance. at 64k miles every little turn it makes an awfull sound like if its an old truck. and like every three months you keep geting a flat for no apperant reason.

Best truck ever/to bad gas is so high

Great truck 5.4 not much on gas mileage but knew that when I got it. Came with what I consider poor tires that wore quickly. Family car or work truck, works for both. XLT seats stain easily and hard to clean

Best truck ever

I bought a 05 F150 Super cab STX. It was a great value for the features I got. I love the styling and the way Ford put the truck together. Mine has the monochromatic paint sceme for a sleek street look. I have pulled a lot with it - 7000lbs with the 4.6L V8. I have the limited slip diff and that helps a lot in the snow. I had that 7000 lb trailer sunk up to its axles in mud and pulled right out in 2WD! This truck isn't the fastest truck out there - but it will keep up with traffic quite nice. I put a Cold Air intake on mine to help the gas mileage and it makes this truck sound really tough like an upset Cobra Mustang. The nice thing about the F150 - you can buy as much truck as you need or want - all the way from a cheap work truck to a completely tricked out Off Road machine. And you're buying a truck from someone that knows how to build a truck right. I would definiatly recommend this truck to anyone!

Dead Transmission

Luckily it happened right at 35,800. Yup, that's right, at 35,800 there was a transmission malfunction light in the little display screen of my 2005 F-150 Super Crew Lariat. All totaled the car is going to spend 4 days in the shop. Luckily it was still under waranty, but that's a little early to need transmission work. Based upon that I'd be leary of this trucks long term reliability.

Nice truck

Pro's: too many to list Con's: slower acceleration than expected with the 5.4 V8, back doors of supercab are awkward, but that's the case with any manufacture with this type of cab.

SteveS

Bought '05 Lariat as a leftover on the lot in December, '05. Have had 2 Dakota's previously and wanted to go bigger. Initially thought about a Hemi Ram but quiet ride of the F150 won me over. Have 10K miles on it and it's been trouble free. Averaging 15.2 mph over past 2K miles which is within 0.2 mph of past V8 Dakota. Especially like the quiet ride. Great highway cruiser but a handful in a crowded parking lot. So far, it's been great!
