new 2012 Focus

Nice car for being a "Focus" with lots of nice features, heated seats, rear camera, comfortable seats. I traded in a 2002 Saturn and the Focus in way above a Saturn in all respects and not an entry level car. It gets 27 mpg around town and has a lot of pickup and go at all speeds, way beyond what I expected. A huge improvement from my Saturn. The drivers seat is very comfortable and the car is much easier to get in and out of than the Saturn. Ford put the seat and door post in a better position. The only complaint is the "minor hesitation" with every start in first gear, a "Focus" signature. Too bad Ford didn't design that out of it. Great car for under 20K if you don't put too many fun features on it.

Focus Hatrchback review

I only have a little over 500 miles on the car I bought about three weeks ago. It is very nimble and frugal with gas, but it shutters when accelerating from standstill. The two left door inside panels do not match the right two doors or the seats in color or fabric. So far the first two tanks of gasoline have averaged about 30 MPG in mostly city driving.

Lincoln

So far I like this car. Great on gas and the 2013 looks a lot more sporty then the years past. Love the hands free talk and the voice activation

No fun, I hate driving this car

I drive one of these for work. We picked it up 2 weeks ago with 29 miles on it. The car hesitates when you press on the accelerator, the automatic transmission started grinding when switching between 2nd and 3rd gear, similar to what the guy before said. It also randomly bucks when your driving and trying to accelerate. Just not a fun car to drive, also the mpg since i picked it up has been 25.3. My personal vehicle is a 2011 Mazda 3 hatchback s sport, and the quality difference between these two vehicles is astronomical, meaning that the mazda feels like a much better quality car, and is a boat load more fun to drive. Sure the Focus's styling and interior are nice, but you have to like driving them too, and driving it is not a pleasant experience.

Transmission Woes

Before you buy this car make sure you look into the transmission issues that have been rampant with both the 2012 and 2013 models. I recently purchased a new 2013 Ford focus SE hatchback. After approximately 100 miles of driving I began to notice a grinding noise when the car was shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. I brought the car into the dealer and I was told the clutch needs time to break in and the noise should go away in time. I am now up to 1500 miles on the car and the grinding noise when shifting around 20 mph has not reduced or gone away. The car also lurches seemingly at random when accelerating from a stop especially in stop and go highway traffic. I will update my review if the transmission issues go away but as it stands now, I have a new car that grinds loudly and lurches randomly when accelerating in low gears. The car is not fun to drive with this issue going on.

Better than I expected

I owned a Ford F-150 for 10 years. Then I downsized to a Ford Edge. I loved both vehicles and never thought I would like the Focus as much as I do. It has leather seats, steering wheel, and shift. I have a moonroof, ambient lighting, sync. I recently took it on a trip and it was very comfortable and great on gas. I put on over 1,000 miles. If you are looking for something that is more efficient on gas then this is the car for you. I have received many compliments on this car.

Happinesss

So far it has been a wonderful car and look forward to years to come. It is my 10th ford that I have owned and have loved all my fords of the past. They have always been reliable and that is a plus when you have kids.
