I Love My GT

I absolutely love the performance of the Mustang GT. The only drawback is the seatbelts are really recessed and hard to reach. Overall great car, lots of fun.

Horrible quality, Ford refused to fix it

Got an 06 GT Mustang new, after only one month the auto trans started to leak with only 1k miles on it, took it back to the dealer for repairs. A month later with around 2500 miles the car is running rough, no power, check engine light comes on, take it back to dealer, 3 spark plugs are burned up. They "fix it" and give it back, same problem driving down the road from the dealer, take it back, they "reflash the computer" and say "its fixed," same problem, only this time there is a gas smell coming in the car and the valves are clattering. Take it back, the service manager stands next to it and says "ill have to call Ford and see what they tell me," and tells me there is no gas smell, but his nose is stuffy anyway, and the valve clatter is "normal." I called Ford and they told me theyll call back, they never did. I tried to get another Ford dealer to look at it and they told me "take it back where you bought it." Ford makes a good looking car with poor quality, cheaply built engines and drivelines, and wont back up their warranty work. I traded this lemon on a nice quality made 06 Maxima, and will never buy Big 3 again.

big time battery drain problems

if i let car sit for 5 or 6 days or drive pleasure only the battery runs down. Drain is intermittent. Car was towed to dealer 3 times. Battery and charging system was fine and modules all timed out but battery continues to drain down. Really nice car if I can start it. Anyone else experiencing this on 06 Mustang GT ?

Rumbling Powerhorse!

This car is awesome! It's heavy, but 300 horses run it just fine. Tight handling and extremely responsive. Drop the top and listen to those horses run! Sharp looking and always turning heads. I love it, but I can't have the car AND the motorcycle.

Great car, #1 Retro-Modern effort

Car is a GREAT choice -- power, style, comfort, and decent mileage (18-20 mpg) to boot. Incredible retro styling with modern lines, and the comfort, convenience and security of modern manufacturing technologies. The GT is fast, capable, and secure. One of the stiffest convertibles around. And with the top down there is NOTHING more attractive out there.

Worst car I've ever owned

worst car i have ever owned. bought it new in 2006 and wanted to trade it in a month later. design is very good but made very cheap. inside started squeaking and making noise immediately. very disapointed in ford. unlike toyota, which prides itself on quality, ford seems to pride itself on quantity. If you want a vehicle for a couple of years, buy a ford. If you want a vehicle to keep for life, toyota is the way to go.

my 05 gt coupe is the best allround car i have own

Great all round performance and comfort. Great looks, reasonable fuel milage, all round good balance of power, braking, gear ratios, for the overall chassis and structure. It doesn't feel like it's going to break when it's pushed a bit. The only "I wisheds" I have, are a bigger gas tank and an adjustable passenger's seat - which I beleive is available on the 07 models. Talk about value--I like Corvettes--(I still have my 57)--no way are they twice as good or twice as much fun.

Bang for the Buck

Living on a hill in PA has made AWD a priority, so I test drove a WRX and Legacy GT; but as a classic Mustang fan, I felt compelled to also drive a new GT. As soon as that V8 roared to life, I knew that a 2 liter, 4-banger would never be so satisfying. Once I eased out the clutch, and gobs of low-end torque rocketed the Mustang forward, I was in love. I had doubts about Ford retaining the solid axle, but that soon subsided as the Mustang easily negotiated curves at speed. The only noticeable clue it lacks IRS is sidestepping while cornering fast on uneven pavement; however clever suspension design and fantastic traction control quickly reestablishes the car's composure. Ford unquestionably nailed a retro design that evokes late 60's Mustangs, while still being modern enough to please young people too. It's a great feeling to have guys in BMW's & Lexi taking a long, wistful look at a car that cost half as much as theirs...and has better performance. Comfort is an area where the Mustang surprises me most. The leather seats are bolstered with American proportions. Skinny people might not be ideally supported while driving aggressively, but a stocky guy like me really appreciates these seats on a long drive. Reliability? Ford? So far I have had over 6,400 absolutely trouble-free miles (including no noises or rattles). Though the car is still young, it is undeniably well-built. No question, this car represents the best value around in sporty cars. In fact, that was the mission of the original Mustang, and it is still very true today. Ford wisely spent money where it counts. There's no interior trunk release or rear cupholders, but it has mandrel-bent 2-1/2" cat-back exhaust stock. Perhaps the best example of the Mustang's value is Ford's selection of standard tires: 235/55-17 which can be bought for a pedestrian $100 each. Meanwhile a Nissan 350Z is shod with 245/45WR18 costing $234 each! The 235/55-17 is more than enough rubber and will save a lot of hard-earned cash over the years. The Mustang defines bang for the buck; but its value isn't merely HP/$. This isn't your father's muscle car. The new Mustang has great brakes; excellent traction control; a comfortable ride, good handling; and even a usable trunk. Kudos to Ford for building an affordable modern classic...with 300HP!

Most Awesome Car I have had!

I have a 1969 mustang and can tell the improvements made on the current mustang. It's good on gas and awesome on performance! This is truly a great car for the money with a high resale value.

Mustang 2006 GT

I love my car. Good stereo 500 shaker. Needs to be able to connect an ipod and it would be better. I have a problem with the sun visor on drivers side it pops off the bracket when its swung down. Thats annoying! The inside is alot of plastic and fake chrome. Other than that. Car is great. One other thing. Factory tinted windows would be great.
