Mustang is Great; Minnesota Isn't

Only a mullet would buy a Mustang for driving in Minnesota. Think front wheel drive or 4WD next time, friend. Your cabeza must have frozen up while ice fishing for walleye. To date, 15,000 miles on my '06 GT 5spd Fastback so far. I commute 3 hours round trip per day very comfortably, and it's a great commuter car since I bulked up my clutch muscle. Getting 19-20MPG in town, 25 on the road. More oomph under the hood than you will ever need, handling is very good/very predictable. Zero mechanical problems of any kind, tranmission is fine if you just know how to drive a stick properly. Shifting early at 1500 RPM to save gas is NOT good for an engine or tranny and it doesn't really save you appreciable gas, go ahead and rev it up a bit better and you'll find its easier to shift - and a lot more fun. Your engine and tranny will last a lot longer too. Twenty-something girls stare once again (but not at 40+ year old me), my boss is talking promotion, and the valet guys get in a shoving match to park it for me. You tell me why the BMW didn't do that (by the way, BMW stands for Big Money Waster, my 740 bought my mechanic his vacation home. NEVER AGAIN WILL I EVER WASTE MONEY ON A BMW. GOT THAT, HANS??!!). Also definitely recommend spending the extra coin to get the optional 18" wheels, it improves both the ride and the handling materially over the 17", and is worth the incremental dollars. Would be nice though if they put auto-dimming rear views in these. CAUTIONARY NOTE: The Mustand IS a muscle car with a big engine and a light rear end. IT CAN AND PROBABLY WILL SWAP ENDS WITH YOU IN A BIG RAIN IF YOU MASH HARD ON THE GAS IN A TURN, IF YOU WHIP IT AROUND HARD IN THE WET, OR IF YOU SLAM ON THE BRAKES ON WET PAVEMENT AT HIGHER SPEED, ALL DESPITE THE TRACTION CONTROL. Even when it does do it, the reaction is very predictable and controllable (I tested it out on the parking lot just to get a feel for the recovery - you should too). Just make sure you keep it conservative when it's wet or icy and you'll be fine. Better yet, just move south out of the tundra country. EXTREMELY happy with the car (and not freezing in Minnesota). Great value for the price. Happy motoring.

Great car!

The new Mustang is a great car! You can get a fancy one or a modest one but they can both move and they look great!

I recently purchasd an 06 5 speed V6 with the pony package and side airbags. What an awesome car! It gets 29 miles to the gallon on the highway, looks good, feels good, and sounds good!

i have owned my 2006 V8 ford mustang for 3 months i have had it in the shop twice for tranny work and the engine alreaddy has a knoking noise at 2,000 miles i thought i was getting a good vehicle but i thought wrong this has been the most frustrating car i have ever owned i will be trading it in for an 2007 V8 Camaro witch is faster anyway so i would not recomend this vehicle to anybody. i am ashamed of fords manufacturing of this vehicle.
