Baby SHO

I owned a 2005 Ford 500 ltd. When I saw and then drove my new 2010 SEL Taurus w/ all the bells and whistles plus it came w/the standard SHO Candy Red w/the 19' rims. It was a done deal for me! Ford did it so right. It's a family car but, dad can have fun while by myself when using those paddel shifters on the steering wheel. I do wish that Ford put the 300hp motor that's outta the mustang in the SEL as an option and leave the 263hp to the regular Taurus or Taurus SE (rental fleet).

Forget the imports

I was sad to lose my 03 Volvo S60, but it had reached the end of it's life cycle. The Taurus is a much better product. The '10 Taurus (nee Five Hundred) was the first new product developed after Ford bought Volvo. This car, like much of the Ford lineup, has really benefited from that partnership.

Reliability exemplified!

This car is incredibly reliable! I have owned this vehicle 14 months, and driven 34,000 miles, without a single incident. The right front wheel bearing did have to be replaced (defective) but not one single failure of any other component or system. 29 MPG on highway, and very quiet and comfortable. That is as long as you are a front seat passenger. They let the adolescents loose in the design department on this iteration, and in the process of making it look like a Hot Wheels imitation they sacrificed any real back seat room on the altar of zoom zoom. This car weighs nearly two tons, and has a wheelbase rivaling that of full bore luxury cars. Why the subcompact back seat accomodations? Terrible! Another problem with the juvenile design is the "gun turret" effect from the chopped roof and raised beltline. Visibility to the rear on this thing is non-existent. Always be speeding up when changing lanes, or you will be cutting people off ALL the time. You simply cannot see out the rear, and side vision is horribly compromised. OK, enough griping (hopefully Ford will fix this stuff in the next model). The car drives fantastic! Great engine with good response and torque through a wide range of engine speeds, and a well matched transmission to make the most of it. Truly a pleasure to travel in on long trips (front seat only again).

This car is the bomb, thanks Ford

The comfort is there, the room is there, the power is certainly there. This car is the greatest one I've own out of the seven different cars before it. I got a good deal on the Limited FWD. It get a lot of looks as well.

Terrific Taurus Limited

I have owned lots of different makes of cars through the years, but have always come back to Ford products. I will not be trying any different brand in the future. This is the best car I have ever owned. Super riding, lots of room and very good gas mileage. To top it off, it has terrific styling! Love the heated and cooled front seats! Heated rear seats too! SYNC is the best electronic item ever added to a vehicle. If you have not driven a Ford product with SYNC, I would highly encourage you to do so.

Love this 2010 Taurus

I have had my car for about a month and I love the way it drives and rides. I find it very comfortable too. My only complaint is the lack of visibility out of the back. I didn't get the rear camera with my SEL but I think it could be a worthwhile option.

Lot of car for the money

This car has about every feature one could want. The 3.6L V-6 may be slightly underpowered for a car of this weight. There is lots of downshifting on an uphill. But it allows the engine to keep the lowest RPM possible under all conditions (usually between 1000-2000 unless accelerating). Inside is very quiet and comfortable.

With a little effort, could have been a great car

Had a '08 Taurus before the ?10 I have now, and put 60K on it. Great car. Most interior capacity in its' class. The 2010 is essentially the same car with different lipstick. Same platform, same drive train. Both drive great, and handle very similar. 2010 suspension has been re-worked and snubbed down a bit for better handling at the expense of some over the road comfort. Not a bad compromise however. What is a shame is that Ford let the kids loose in the design department. The "gangsta" look greenhouse certainly draws eyes but is horrendous for outward vision, to the point of being downright dangerous. If you order this car, spec the radar sensing option: to be safe changing lanes, this car needs it! With the height of the window sill relative to the seating position, and the narrowness of the greenhouse, it gives the feeling of peering out of a bunker. Don?t even think about driving with the window down and your arm hanging out propped on the window sill. Not happening. Oh, and you will really enjoy that first visit to a drive up ATM. It will probably be your last in this car. Also Ford cut the roof line so radically that they had to move the rear seat forward to the point that it has the same rear leg room as the Fusion. Terrible! A car with a wheelbase this long should allow you to cross your legs in the rear seat (the '08 did). Fix this Ford! NO excuse for such bad judgment. This is your big car, and it should be especially big inside. With that said, the car does drive great. Handles much smaller than it is. Good turn in without excessive understeer, which is easily controlled with judicious throttle application. The 3.5 engine delivers very good low end torque, revs freely without harshness, and achieves very decent mileage on the open road (28-29 MPG). The six speed transmission is smooth and responsive, with really good shift point logic on and off throttle. This car also delivers good feedback through the steering wheel without being harsh. Have over 22K on this one, and not a single mechanical problem so far. Very good build quality!
