With a little effort, could have been a great car

Had a '08 Taurus before the ?10 I have now, and put 60K on it. Great car. Most interior capacity in its' class. The 2010 is essentially the same car with different lipstick. Same platform, same drive train. Both drive great, and handle very similar. 2010 suspension has been re-worked and snubbed down a bit for better handling at the expense of some over the road comfort. Not a bad compromise however. What is a shame is that Ford let the kids loose in the design department. The "gangsta" look greenhouse certainly draws eyes but is horrendous for outward vision, to the point of being downright dangerous. If you order this car, spec the radar sensing option: to be safe changing lanes, this car needs it! With the height of the window sill relative to the seating position, and the narrowness of the greenhouse, it gives the feeling of peering out of a bunker. Don?t even think about driving with the window down and your arm hanging out propped on the window sill. Not happening. Oh, and you will really enjoy that first visit to a drive up ATM. It will probably be your last in this car. Also Ford cut the roof line so radically that they had to move the rear seat forward to the point that it has the same rear leg room as the Fusion. Terrible! A car with a wheelbase this long should allow you to cross your legs in the rear seat (the '08 did). Fix this Ford! NO excuse for such bad judgment. This is your big car, and it should be especially big inside. With that said, the car does drive great. Handles much smaller than it is. Good turn in without excessive understeer, which is easily controlled with judicious throttle application. The 3.5 engine delivers very good low end torque, revs freely without harshness, and achieves very decent mileage on the open road (28-29 MPG). The six speed transmission is smooth and responsive, with really good shift point logic on and off throttle. This car also delivers good feedback through the steering wheel without being harsh. Have over 22K on this one, and not a single mechanical problem so far. Very good build quality!

Best driving car.

The 2010 Taurus is a great looking and handling car. Mine is pretty well loaded up and everything works just great. My one complaint is the reduction of leg room in the back seat. If you travel with adults in the back seat (and you're tall), you'll have to adjust your front seat forward.

Not My Best Deal

I bought this car on a recommendation of a friend. I should have never listened to my friend. After driving it for 3 months I am ready to trade it for something else. The gas mileage is toward the lower end of what was advertised on the sticker. The car is roomy but the seats are not comfortable. It is lacking in features that are standard with other cars in the same price range. Everything in the interior is plastic and cheap. In three months it has been in the shop four times for warranty fixes like a leaky moonroof. Never again will I buy a Ford product.

Charger Killer

Man I love this Car I have owned a dodge charger RT since 06 and i loved the hemi but when winter hit man i was in trouble but don't get me wrong i loved the hemi power. I fell in love with SHo at the 210 Chicago auto show and man was I impressed with the styling. I bought it fully loaded and had cash left over to to by my wife a nice gift ( a spare ford smart key I limited her speed limit to 70 Mph) for safety reasons but man this car can fly the sport pack adds a better suspension in my words and the all wheel drive system works well around corners. also did i mention the paddle shifts are a nice touch. I really don't miss the charger but until then ford is the right choice TIP IF U WANT OTHER FOR VEHICLES OP FOR THE FUSION SPORT OR THE ALL NEW 2011 MUSTANG AND EDGE

IMPRESSIVE

Currently, I own an 08 Taurus and I brought it to the dealer for a scheduled service checkup. I had to leave it for half a day so my old salesperson set me up with the 2010 SHO because I mentioned I'm looking at getting another car in about a year. Now it may be in 6 months, the "SHO". I had the car for a full day so I don't know how it is long-term but the day was IMPRESSIVE. We've owned a couple of E-Class Mercedes and the Taurus seems just as quiet and comfortable. Handling is on the sporty side but the highway ride is nice, quiet, and controlled. The most impressive thing about this car is the ACCELERATION, very IMPRESSIVE (and deceptive). During a couple of Freeway entries I was at 90-mph before I realized it. At any speed, any driving situation, any terrain, the SHO accelerates like a Mustang GT, a Corvette, or a Mercedes AMG (yes I've owned one). I like this car but I'm not sure if I should replace the 08 Taurus with the 2010 SHO. The 08 has be really reliable and comfortable and the gas mileage is impressive, (over 30 mpg hwy) plus, I'll own it in 6-months. I'm fortunate to have decent income but I'm not rich. I'm sure a car the moves like the SHO will use more gas than the 08-Taurus plus, I'll own it in 6-months. Overall, I like the 2010 Taurus SHO. It is stylish (in & out), has all the nice features of an E-Class Mercedes (and some), is quiet and comfortable, and with acceleration plus traction that is IMPRESSIVE. The reliability rating is based on my 08 Taurus.

Best FORD Yet, but not quite European..

Being in charge of Procurement of a large foreign airline, I was juggling between Toyota Camry and Ford Taurus.(Before Toyota Crisis). I decided on Ford Taurus for company car for 26 station managers around the country. Most station managers were not happy that I decided on Taurus over their first choice Camry, but I decided on Taurus because I test drove one of the first cars to arrive in our dealers. Long story short, I was hugely impressed. Everyone hated me for my decision until they received their cars. I received my car first and showed it to our regional station manager in Los Angeles. His opinion about the car changed instantly. It is a good looking car, good value for the money but the performance is not that great. Other question is, build quality and reliability towards the end of the lease. (3 years). Hope Ford stands behind their product.

Luv, Luv, Luv this Car!!!!

I've had a Volvo, BMW, and a Mercedes and this is my favorite car ever! It must be the combination of room, interior styling and comfort, exterior good looks, plus the fact that it's an American car that makes me love it so. You know, it may sound corny, but I am proud to buy American and proud of what Ford has done with not only the Taurus but the other vehicles they are producing. No government bailout required.

Sophisticated and Energetic

I test drove a 2007 BMW 300 series and the 2010 Ford Taurus. I bought the Taurus Limited because I felt the exterior reflected the sophisticated and modern look that I wanted. The interior features of the car were superior to the BMW and, most importantly, I didn't feel squished. The Ford handled adequately for my purposes and I've actually had some fun using the paddle shifters in manual. The SYNC system is futuristic and the voice commands work well after a little practice. Really wows my passengers. The Taurus is my first "grownup" car, and after 1.5 months I'm pleased with my decision to go with the updated Ford brand. Although most of my friends drive little used German cars, I'm proud to have a one of kind American car that aesthetically overpowers most of the competition. I get complimented on my car's appearance on almost a daily basis. If I had unlimited funds I would have gone with the SHO, but the Limited has the same features, except for the ECO Boost engine.

Best Taurus but still needs some work

There is one problem with the new Taurus. It rides like an SUV. It's not bad if you are coming from an SUV to a Taurus. In fact you probably will feel very comfortable with it. Unfortunately, if Ford wants this car to compete, they need to spend some additional time with suspension calibration. Road impacts and undulations are handled just like an SUV. It will roll and snap to the road conditions. Not what I expect in a family car. Ford may say it's more "European" in feel. Being "firm". I own several European cars. Some of which are smaller and lighter. Yet drive, handle and ride a lot better. Don't get me wrong. This Taurus is a whole lot better than before. However, I turned in a Ford Fusion for this Taurus and the Fusion is a far better "tuned" vehicle.

top flight car

bought our 2010 taurus limited in Sept and in october went for a5,000 mile trek to upstate ny and back. The car performed far better than any expectations, quiet, powerful, extremely comfortable, and a real attention getter. My insurance rates went down considerably compared to what i was paying for my camray. LOVE THIS CAR!
