Do your homework

I started the process since the beginning of the hear 2016. I needed a small crossover car for my retirement which is scheduled for 2021. I will be sending to Africa. Gas consumption with the latest technologies. Price, maintenance, insurance.

Fits all our needs, most of our wants

Living in Brooklyn, we have a limitation of a narrow driveway (77" at its narrowest point). In addition, with 2 kids, we needed both room in the back seat and storage space for going on trips, shopping, etc. This fits all those needs wonderfully. In addition, the styling both inside and outside has that "premium" look at feel. Stylish, recharging outlet for the kids in the backseat, plenty of storage with the back seat up, heated front seats, side and wide angle back cameras. We've had it now for about a week, and really my only complaints are the entertainment system is not that user friendly (it has trouble switching from my phone, to my wife's phone, to my daughters phone via bluetooth). It seems like it takes 2 or 3 iterations to get it to finally link to a different phone. And it could use a little more pep in the engine. It's enough to merge on those short entry ramps of the Belt Parkway, but just enough. Overall, very satisfied and pleasantly surprised, but not overwhelmed.

Best Car Decision Ever

As a senior with more than 50 years of driving and probably more than 50 auto purchases the HR V meets all of my requirements in a small efficient package. What requirements? Safety 5 stars from NHTSA; economical to own and operate; Honda's bullet proof reliability; fun to drive; good looker; and a smooth quite ride.

Utilitarian Practicality

Love the ROOM: We were looking for a new compact Crossover and were considering the usual suspects: CR-V, Tiguan, RAV-4, among others. We didn't consider a subcompact SUV because we didn't think it would be big enough. Enter HR-V. Not only was it equal in room to the Tiguan, it also got at least 9-10 more mpg. And while not quite as big as the CR-V and the RAV-4, the rear seat comfort for adults was equal or better. How they managed to cram this much passenger space into a subcompact is impressive. What really sold us though was the versatility of the cargo area. Decent volume with the seats up, but fold them down for a completely flat loading area. I removed the front passenger headrest and folded that seat completely flat and was able to haul my daughters Extra Long Twin size dorm mattress with ease on move-out day. We were also impressed by the "Magic Seats". The seat bottoms fold up for "tall mode". Perfect for hauling plants/trees from the home improvement warehouse or a full sized bike with the front wheel attached. Magic indeed. Pros: We purchased the EX FWD with automatic CVT. Features included keyless entry and start, Honda LaneWatch and backup cameras, power windows and door locks, heated seats and mirrors, touch screen infotainment system, moonroof, bluetooth, multiple USB and HDMI ports, and touchscreen automatic climate control. The only available engine option is the 1.8 liter 4cyl from the last generation of Civics. It provides adequate power, but mated to the CVT it sounds strained at times. You're not going to win any drag races, but merging into highway traffic and passing acceleration is more than adequate. The EX does include paddle shifters, but I find they are rarely needed. With just a touch over 4000 miles, we've averaged 31.1 mpg in mostly city/rural highway driving. Firm but smooth ride and limited cabin noise. These are all the HR-V's pluses. Cons: This list probably explains why I call the seemingly loaded EX "Utilitarian". Seat comfort is just ok, and power seats are not an option on any trim level. Support at thigh area is too flat and insufficient. I feel this could be helped with a tilt feature. It could also use an adjustable lumbar support. While interior is well made with hard and soft touch plastics, the "carpet" is simply the black felt that usually is reserved for trunk lining. While I thought I was going to hate this, during my first clean up I was surprised how easily the pet hair and sand was vacuumed. But definitely do as we did and invest in some heavy duty floor liners with acres of coverage, because I don't feel that it will wear well. The center console is basically useless for storing items bigger than a wallet or credit cards and there is no door pocket storage short of a water bottle holder and a small area that I have yet to find anything that will fit in. The rear seats could also use a fold down arm rest/console/cupholders (a feature available on the Canadian model but not US for some reason). The infotainment system is definitely frustrating in its operation at times, making you scroll through a couple menus just to do even the simplest of tasks. While some have complained about the lack of knobs for changing audio levels, I find that is offset by the steering wheel mounted controls. I also find the touchscreen for climate controls fine as well, despite some complaints I've read. Nothing here that's a dealbreaker for us. Overall: We're very happy with the car. It suits our needs and is as roomy as some compact SUV's, while being priced like a subcompact. Roomy and versatile interior. Decently styled exterior. Adequate power and handling with top of it's class fuel mileage. A fair, but slightly flawed attempt at the technological and creature comforts. A solid B+ effort.

Absolutely satisfied with my purchase!

I drove a 2009 Nissan Rogue and was looking for something that matched up to the features I had gotten on my rogue. I was looking at new Rogues, Toyota Rav 4's and Honda Cr-V, and I happened to stumble upon the HR-V. The amount of features you get for the price is amazing, things I didn't think I would be able to get in my price range. Keyless entry, push to start, back up camera, blind spot camera, bluetooth, iPhone control on the screen, heated front seats, to name a few. I have had NO issues with this car at all, and I drove it from Florida to Ohio. Minor complaints would be that it does not come with the HondaLink cords, which cost an additional $100 (So I just never purchased them and don't utilize those features), and the fact that the bluetooth sometimes is a little sticky with not telling you what song/artist is playing. The bluetooth/iPod link is also a little weird with spotify, as it assigns every song a number before the song title, which is kinda weird, but it plays music well. Speaking of, the sound quality is WONDERFUL. I came from a car with bose speakers, and I would say the sound is very comparable. I would highly reccomend this car to someone looking in the suv/crossover category. There is a ton of legroom in the back, the trunk is spacious (just think, I put 4 years of college in this baby and it fit). A great purchase!!

Honda Odyssey

It is hard to answer reliability and value after only having the car for 2 weeks. Ask me in about 5 years. We have owned our Hondy Odyssey for 12 years and it has been very reliable. Only one problem with the transmission and had it fixed locally because Honda would not cover it because it was 2000 miles out of warranty. No problems since.

Young Honda - Logan Utah

I love my Honda HRV! Young Honda in Logan Utah is where I have purchased my last 5 vehicles. We have a lot of drivers---so cars are needed! I wouldn't purchase a car anywhere else! Scott Cooley at Young Honda has always taken my calls and/or responded quickly to my questions from the financial department at Young Honda. He is the best!! I recommend everyone to buy their vehicles at Young Honda. I have always been treated fairly and the Service Department can't be beat too!
