2006 Hyundai SONATA consumer reviews

The Sonata GLS is very well-built car. The quality has been flawless. We've had absolutely no problems with the car after 16,000 miles. It is huge inside, even the back seat. The 4 cylinder is plenty powerful and gets great gas mileage. I can't say enough good things about this car. I own a Honda and a Toyota and I am sold on Hyundai. It was a great deal at well under 19K. Perhaps the most important features are all the safety items that come standard in this car; side curtain airbags, abs brakes, stabilty control and traction control.

This is one of the best cars I have ever driven. No, wait, it is the best non-lemon car I have ever driven. I love the whole thing. I think Hyundai and Daimler-Chrysler will pass Toyota and Honda.

I love this car I've had an Cutlass 79, Regal 91, Camry 92, and a Monte Carlo 96. Without a doubt this is the best I've had.

We bought a Sonata a few months ago and I have to say I am still impressed! We had been looking at several cars including the new Jetta, the Honda Civic and several Toyotas, but after test driving the Sonata (quite a few times) and doing a bit of background check on expert and consumer reviews, and ESPECIALLY after checking out Hyundai's awesome warranty, we went for it! I had two worries: 1)loss of value after we drive it off the lot. I knew Hyundais did not have the same reputation as other car makers and they would loose some value, but we bought our car during the year-end clearance special and obtained a car at a very good price (close to a used car rate with a new car loan APR.. you can't beat that!) 2)miles per gallon This is where I have my only complaint, the 4-cylinder version is nice but it just does not drive as well as the V-6, and the MPG performance of the V-6 is around 25-26 MPG (that's with me using cruise control as often as I can) However, the safety features of this car, the luxury, comfort, sound system, roominess, even perfectly designed cupholders and plastic bag/purse hook just won me over. It is a pleasure to sit and drive this quiet car after a long day at work, I never thought I could afford such luxury! Oh, almost forgot: we loved this car so much that we bought a second one, year-end clearance of course, and with a Hyundai owner discount! Would I recommend this car? YOU BETCHA!

Purchased our new Sonata 29 June 2006 and it has been the shining star since day one. Test drove compatable Honda & Toyota models and found they just no longer measure up to the Sonata. The 4 cyl. engine has all the pep needed in the real world; over 30 mpg mixed driving in quiet comfort. Unusual for a 4 cyl. to be sure; but you have to test drive it to believe it. Don't miss the opportunity to drive away from a dealership with a smile on your face; and cash in your pocket in a sleek beauty your friends will soon discover is the greatest value in the automobile market today. All the options offered by Honda and Toyota and then some including the newest stability control and six air bags and a ten year 100,000 mile warranty! The five year bumper to bumper and road side assistance shows Hyundai stands behind their award winning new Sonata! Be the first on your block to show you judge a product on their quality rather than name reputation. Move over Honda & Toyota; Hyundai just left you in the dust of yesterday!

I have been driving my '06 Sonota for several months now and would like to give my opinion. I was originally in the market for a Honda Accord, but during my research on the top cars reviewed, I kept coming across the great Sonota reviews so I thought I'd check them out. After looking at new ones I ended up buying a pre-driven one with 9,000 miles on it in brand new condition (which saved me around $6,000 from a comparable brand new model). Its fully loaded except for leather seats which I didn't want anyway. Overall, both me and my wife are really impressed with this car. Its very sold and well put together with excellent fit and finish. The 3.3L V6 engine is super quite and very powerful, the 6.1 sound system is awsome and the ride is very quiet; almost like floating on air. Some reviews complain about the lack of "sport suspension" but it's not supposed to be a sports car. The interior controls are designed ergonomicly well and easy to read, there are good cup holders, plenty of storage space. I especially like my day / night mirror with the compass, the power sunroof and the MPG fuel computer. The trunk is big and roomy and the overall body style is very well designed. The only cons that I can come up with are that the seats should be a bit longer under your thigh, and the 25 / 30 gas milage is closer to 24 / 26 no matter how conservitave I drive on the highway. I also don't see the need for the "Shiftronic" transmission as the automatic works great. I would certainly recommend this car to anyone I know.

I have 3,000 miles on my 2006 Sonata. I traded in an American luxury car and I have been very impressed with the styling, features, and room of the Sonata. Engine is smooth as glass and very strong. Getting about 20-21 in town and 28-30 on the highway. I have the heated leather seats which are high quality, and the whole interior looks "luxury-like". Only gripe I have is the 12V power outlets are not "hot" unless the key is on - can't charge my cell phones overnight.

Ive been driving my 06 Sonata V6 LX since April of 06 and havent grown tired. Hyundai has done a good job on performance and fuel economy.I drove my car from Sacramento to Los Angeles on one tank of gas (thats 400+ miles) I was quite impressed.I had no problem staying in the fast lane and especially liked the climate control,cruse control and MP3 player which came stock with my model all of which made my trip very enjoyable! I would highly recommend this car look at what it has to offer and compare with other makes its a no brainer.

We needed a larger car because we have another baby on the way. At first we did not want to buy a Hyundai and looked at many of the other cars in the same class, the Camry, the Accord, and even considered a SUV since they have plenty of room. The Sonata just kept bringing us back because of their GREAT price. We saved thousands over the other cars in the same class and go so much more car. When I started doing more research it didn't take long to make up our minds with more airbags and safety features than you could ever want, standard CD/MP3 player and lots of space, we found our car. Even my 6yr old daughter can't get over how big the trunk is - there's room for fold up chairs, the "big" stroller" and still plenty left over for the groceries. Even though the 4-cyl gets better gas mileage, the V6 is incredible and so much fun to drive, we LOVE our Sonata!
