Not as Good as what you hear
Every article and every review seems to be singing the praises of the new Mazda 6. I have a different opinion. The transmission is terrible. I have owned many cars from performance cars to minivans, and the 2014 Mazda 6 is the worst shifting car I've ever driven. Oh, its fine from a standing start. But in real world driving, it is borderline unsafe. Everytime you make a sudden speed change, for example from 55mph to 65mph to hit a hole in traffic, or decelerating around a corner and then accelerating again (that never happens, right?) or simply slowing down for someone in front of you and then hitting the gas again...in other words, real world driving, there is a full 1 second delay as you wait for the transmission to downshift, and then a sudden lurch forward as the undersized engine tries to make up for the time it just lost. Driving this car is like riding with someone driving a stick shift for the first time. Beautiful car, beautiful styling, comfortable seats, great handling...unacceptably bad transmission. I will be selling this car due to this issue.

Awesome Ride
I purchased my Mazda 6 Touring shortly after it hit the market in 2013. Now, almost a year later, I can say I'm as happy with my choice now as I was the day I drove it off the lot. The car has killer looks, nimble and confident handling, a well organized and attractive interior and excellent fuel economy. I do about 70/30 highway to city driving and I am averaging 34.2 mpg. The only minor negatives I have are seats that could be a bit more comfortable over long distances and a desire for a drive train with a little more pick up at low speeds. In total though this car is a home run. Great styling in a sedan that combines sport with function, the Mazda 6 has personality plus compared to the soulless competitors in its class.

Nice Car - needs better performance
My wife and I bought this car after owning the initial Mazda 6 back in 2003. That car was a great performer with a V6 that we had no trouble with except the usual tires, brakes, etc. The only downside to that car was rust in the rear quarters and not the greatest mileage compared to like-models from other car companies. When we saw the styling of this car, we waited to order one. With a claimed 38 mpg and exterior looks like a Jaguar and Infinity at a fraction of the cost, we bit even though I would have preferred another V6 or turbo. Well, although the car is fantastic in many ways, it is down on power and has a frustrating lag at onset as well as in between gears. And, if you push the pedal more, it quickly ramps up the rpm and throws you back in your seat. Very quirky and annoying. As for MPG, we use it primarily on the highway going to work and average just 28-29 and we have never seen 38MPG even on long trips. We thought we would save a lot of money on gas, but the difference has been minimal. The good is that the interior is comfortable and has an upper class feel to it. And, the looks, well it is a wonderfully sculpted appearance. You at least look good in one.

Great car for the money
Surprising performance and handling from the 184 hp manual engine with 37 mpg. Plenty of creature comforts and safety features expected in higher priced cars at a reasonable price. I did not feel the need to upgrade to any of the optional packages, since I opted for the Touring model. If you are looking for a car with a manual transmission with a usable back seat and good acceleration, this car is for you.

It's a great car
I have owned my Mazda 6 GT for 9 months now. I traded in a 3 with 60K and got top dollar as a trade-in.There have been no mechanical issues with my 6 and I average 32-33 MPG over-all, but then I do a lot of freeway driving. I continue to get a lot of complements on the vehicle's styling (blue with white leather) and people mostly think that it is a Jag. My only complaints is that the seats could be a little more comfortable and the lack of interior storage. Otherwise, it has been one of the best vehicles I have owned, to include a few that had cost much more.

Mazda 6 Touring In sinc
Great value perfect handling reponsive sterring.. Fun to drive factor beats 2013 Altima and Honda sport. Kia optima felt like a toy car. Cheesy handling. I have owned 2 of the former cars. Nissan rode smoth on interstate but was not fun to drive. Cvt is a boring transmission. The 6 speed Mazda Transmission is as smooth as it gets. Gas mizer too. Curves are now fun no lean ..We have a camry also. . This car is no camry. This is a family sports car..

Sporty but fuel Efficient - great technology!
The Mazda 6 is a FUN car. I commute every day and had a Nissan Altima that I liked very much - UNTIL I drove this car. Great HP and the 6 speed manual and linear steering make this car a blast to drive. Love the technology in the car as well, and the MPG is no lie - the last tank I averaged 35.4 mpg without trying (too) hard. It is a little tight to get into compared to the Altima and other midsize sedans, but the sporty cockpit and comfortable interior more than make up for this. LOVE this car, so much more fun than Accord, Altima, Camry.

Cross comparision shopping
after cross shopping using Consumer reports and test driving the Toyota's, Nissans, Fords and Chevolets. The Mazda 6 Grand Touring addition was more car than the other manufacturers were offering and with the best economy including hybrids, Great purchase. Have recccommended to friends and family.

Just Bought Car 12/26/2013
Just purchased the Grand Touring 2.5L with AT and Technology Package. I put 75 miles on the car so far. I test drove it and I was so satisfied, that I changed my original plan to buy this car around this time in 2014. My other car is a 2008 Infiniti G35, so the Mazda6 had it's work cut out to impress me. I can now say that I am all smiles and a proud owner. The Grand Touring has just as many bells and whistles as my G35 and the 2.5L is more than ample in facing my 40 mile commute. The feel on the road to me is very good, cornering and tight curves are welcomed obstacles. The turning radius is just as tight as my G and the acceleration for passing leaves no doubt about this cars performance. I'm not that much of an enthusiast, to the point that I'm going to "spec" this car point for point for all it's features, so currently I have no negatives to report. I am now a owner...a Happy Owner and I'm very glad I shot for the moon and got it fully loaded. Zoom, Zoom to 40mpg on the highway.

Zoom Zoom for real!
Totally in love with the 2014 Mazda 6 with iEloop that I purchased three weeks ago. Totally trouble free so far. I used Costco Auto Buying Program for a stress free purchase. I'm totally impressed with the interactive technology and voice activated commands. I have received many compliments on the appearance. The 19" wheels are killers. Excellent handling and plenty of "zoom zoom" from the 2.5 four. It is loaded with safety equiptment including Smart City Braking and Intelligent Cruise. For the price, l can't imagine a better driving or equipped car.
