Big car ride; small car appetite

Bought used with 20,000 miles. Have had no problems. Typically get 39 mpg on an 8 mi (one-way) drive to work -half in town- half highway. On the road the I am getting between 41-43 mpg. The car is quiet, has descent power. I just got a new set of tires and am awaiting a front-end alignment to see if it helps it track better in a straight line ( on rough roads it seems to wander). Other than one console squeak and half of the trunk having a pass-through. I have little to complain about. This is a great car, especially for those with some distance to travel each day.

Love My Camry Hybrid - why do a Prius?

I bought my 2007 Camry Hybrid new off the lot in 2007. 45,000 miles later I still love it and have not had a single problem with it. Averaging 37 mpg and wondering why anyone would buy a Prius when you can have the Camry?? I rented a Prius on a business trip and averaged 45 mpg but it doesn't have nearly as much room and the ride is nothing compared to my Camry. I don't think you could ask for more in a Hybrid and highly recommend this often overlooked car to everyone.

Very impressed so far

I purchased an '07 Camry hybrid a few months ago. I love the ride, the look, the accessories, and the gas mileage (I average around 36 most tanks). I didn't realize how much I was really able to save by trading in my 4-runner. The only down side is I do get some rattles around the speakers, but all-in-all I really love this car.

This is the most comfortable car for someone tall

Leg room is incredible, overall value is great. Gas mileage is excellent and this car runs like a dream. Very quiet and comfortable on the highway. Lots of pick up and go in town.

Best car I've Owned

With over 70K miles on the odometer, I still love this car. I've monitored mileage for every tank and put overall fuel mileage at 37.5 mpg. Other reviews claim bad tire mileage, I just replaced the first set at 59K miles with original equipment tires approx. $150 each installed by dealer. On 8K trip to the west coast and back averaged 38 mpg. Leather has held up well even with a 70 lb dog in the back seat most of the time.

Hybrids eat tires like crazy

We have 49K miles on our 2007 Camry Hybrid and we are going through our second set of expensive tires. Another Camry Hybrid owner at the dealer had his in for service wth 78K miles on it and he was in for his third set. What Toyota does not tell Hybrid owners is that the weight of the cars really wears at the tires and regardless of the brand and warranty, this model wears down tires quickly. Thus the issue of the batteries adding to the landfill is now compounded by the fact that Hybrids go through tires twice as fast as non Hybrid cars. Not very environmental for sure. We also had to replace our water pump at 49K miles and thank god under warranty. As well the weight of the car with batteries, causes the brake pads to wear much faster. On a positive note, we love the feel, quietness and mileage. The car has done well.

Best drive in it's class....

Toyota really got this car right We have taken a couple of day-long trips and it couldn't be more pleasurable. (Note: There is significantly more room/comfort in the back seat than in our BMW!) When we bought the Hybrid we thought we were sacrificing luxury in the Camry but were completely surprised. The infinitely variable transmission makes the car run so smoothly at any speed that it's hard to compared to any other car we've owned. It has gas+electric power to pass and it's quick on its feet. In town the mileage and comfort of the climate control is great even on the truly hot days. And the car is so quiet that we can enjoy the well-tuned stereo system and satellite radio, or the iPod, while we are on a trip. We have had NOTHING mechanically wrong since we drove it off the showroom floor....12500 miles ago. The mileage in town is really about 34-35mpg and we get from 37-42mpg on the highway depending on terrain and weather. The comfort, style and sheer pleasure of driving this nimble luxury Camry Hybrid has exceeded our expectations.

Repair Costs on Camry Hybrid are Rediculous

At over $30,000, this Camry hybrid was not cheap, but I figured that it would pay itself off in a couple of years and last a while, but I was wrong. The millage was not up to what it was supposed to be, I averaged about 30 miles per gallon. Many less expensive cars exceed that. Also, the car was very clumsy to drive, with a lot of body roll when I took a spirited drive. The acceleration was surprisingly brisk, but if the car was not on a full charge, then the acceleration turned to just decent. I was pleased with the navigation systems simplicity, but it the display screen stopped working at about 8,900 miles. That cost a whopping $490 to repair. Just when I got the car back, I drove over a small pothole, and the rim cracked, which Toyota replaced under warranty. Another minus is the small trunk space. You cannot fit a weekends worth of luggage in it, and you cannot fold the seats down. When I was driving in town at about 13,000 miles, the window controls stopped working. This was not covered under warranty, and cost my $200 to have repaired. Another thing that drives me nuts about this car is how low quality it is. The interior plastics are so cheap. None of the interior panels fit well, and the vinyl trim on the door is coming off. The whole car feels as if it were put together with tape. I am so irritated with this car, that it just sits at home now and I take the train to work and ride my bike around town if the weather permits. Save yourself a lot of trouble and DO NOT GET A CAMRY HYBRID.

Worst car I have ever owned

As a person concerned with ever rising fuel prices and the climate change, I purchased a Toyota Camry Hybrid in 2007. It seemed like a wonderful car. It had navigation, was supposedly "green" and got 40 miles to the gallon. All wrong. I am writing this report as a warning against the Camry Hybrid. As far as normal driving is concerned, it is incredibly quiet and smooth, but doesn't feel sporty or fun at all. The plastics inside the car are very cheap and the fit and finish is terrible. The leather seats started wrinkling and cracking after just 6,000 miles. THe real reason why I cannot stand this car thought is the electronic systems in the car. At 7,000 miles, the sunroof wouldn't close fully. So I had to drive with a half open sunroof for about a week before my Toyota dealer fixed it.(for a ridiculous price) After it was fixed, it worked fine. But at 19,000 miles, the battery hybrid system completely stopped working, and would have cost me $12,000 to replace. This happened in October of 2008. I decided to get rid of the car, the depreciation was shocking, loosing almost 90 percent of the cars original value. I ended up purchasing a 2009 VW Jetta TDI (Diesel)which according to my driving gets 48 miles per gallon on the highway. I also wonder how green the Camry Hybrid can be once its batteries are put in a landfill. Also, I averaged 31 mles per gallon in the Camry Hybrid. Not quite what the estimates were. My advice would be, if you want a fuel efficient vehicle get a small lightweight car like a Chevy Aveo or Cobalt, or a Ford Focus, or get a diesel car like a Jetta TDI if you want to see really high gas millage.

Better mileage than advertised

I consistently get far better mileage on the highway than it's rated. The city mileage is accurate. I bought this as a secondary car, but it's become our primary family vehicle.
