Tailgate Problems
Overall, the 2018 Toyota Highlander is a nice vehicle for the money. However, we have experienced problems with the tailgate opening and closing. We mentioned this to a service member about a year ago and were told that there were no recalls, service bulletins, or general complaints. Now, the tailgate doesn't operate, the dashboard warning light comes on and beeps, and the tailgate section of the car symbol on the dash show there is a problem. The car cannot be driven while the warning sound continues. Also, for some reason the headlights don't turn off for about 15 minutes after the vehicle is turned off; may be associated with tailgate problem. We had already mad a service appointment for tomorrow, Jun 12 but when this problem happened this morning we called to see if we could get the vehicle in today. We were put on hold by the automated answering service for 10+ minutes before a member of the service department came on the line, only to tell us that there were no opening today. So the vehicle sits in the garage as it is basically unusable in its current condition. Nobody wants to drive a vehicle with a warning sound beeping full time.

Worst car brand
Vehicle and the brand are not trustworthy. Toyota does not care about customers. Do not be fooled by advertising. I own my car and I am paying for it, it is my third Toyota but not anymore because as soon as I finish the payments I will buy a different brand

NOISE under car flapping undercarriage & roof poop
When driving on the highways especially if there is a little wind we think it is catching the cheap plastic 2 piece cover and is causing all sorts of noise when you are in an area with cross wind or any wind it is unbearable we have had it to the dealer 3 times the last guy that went for a ride said he knew what it was and it seemed to get better but it is so bad yesterday we drove 200 miles flapping and slapping all the way. Terrible noise. We have owned over 20 new cars and 15 old vintage cars and never had any car make this noise...oh and as the day gets warm the roof xxxxxxand cracks AND the drivers seat pokes me in the butt causing severe pain even my '56 chevy with the springs sticking out of the front seat didn't hurt my butt like this.

“I WANT TO CRY !” 2019 HIGLANDER doesn’t work!
My wife said, it’s my 50th birthday, and I am buying a car, TODAY! She wrote a check for a 2919 TOYOTA HIGHLANDER. In my case, you cannot talk to the car, and if you call someone with the car phone, the people cannot hear you, and you cannot hear them. THE DEALER SAID IT DOES NOT WORK , Toyota America said it “WORKS AS DESIGNED”. So they won’t honor the warranty, and the dealer said sorry, we begged Toyota America to fix it. Now I have to go through the Lemon law BS. I swore by my last 4 Toyotas, I had 7 new fords and ford pulled the same BS, we will not fix it but admitted it was broken. I am so so sad.

Above the competition
Plenty of room for a 6 foot 2 driver. Zooms up mountain passes in Colorado fully loaded with ease. Lots of cargo room with third row seats folded down.

I Love My Highlander
I love getting into my car everyday. It’s comfortable, carries lots of stuff, can pick up guests in comfort. I love the way it drives, the sound system, the alerts when it thinks i’m Heading out of my lane. Love the back up camera. I bought the all weather mats later and wish i’d Bought them up front.
