Typical Toyota reliability
Looked at all the competing suvs. Test drove the Honda Pilot. The Highlander is far superior to the Pilot. I'm 6'4" and the Highlander is more roomy and more comfortable. Overall performance is superior in my opinion.

Worst
The worst car I ever had. Toyota is the worst brand that I will never recommend. The worst service and they donot have any gratitude nor appreciation for a loyal customer

I love it so far!
I test drove and compared the 2018 Honda Pilot, Nissan Murano, and Toyota Highlander. I chose the Highlander for reliability and all around better car for our needs and taste. I got the AWD XLE as it seemed to be the best version for the money. I liked the looks of the captain chairs in the second row, but opted for the full bench instead for friendlier seating for three adults instead of having to put one in the third row which is more for kids than adults. So far I love the car and the MPG has been very respectful.

Not a dependable Toyota
I am very disappointed in the 2018 Highlander which I have only 10,999 miles on. Twice I have had scratches from rocks on the road and had them repaired. The dealer's excuse is the body paint is thinner in the new cars. Second, I have had issues with acceleration. This just happened recently and the service dept. can't figure out the problem. I tried to pass a vehicle and the car stalled and RPM jumped to 5 .5. Thought the darn engine was going to blow. I have a 2006 4-runner that I love and the paint looks better than the new Highlander.

The technology has lot to be desired
Very disappointed bought top of line in model Platinum chrome but did not include automatic start or individual tire psi or specific low tire designation or automatic interior lighting when doors are open including rear hatch which at night is rediculous. Also the PCS I’m sure doesn’t work had a close call on rte 95 in South Carlolina and not so much as a waning tested it many times myself to see if I would at least get a Warning no such luck. Complained to the dealer and he said he tested it in Cruise control and since it wired in this mode the PCS IS OK . Didn’t convince me since I think there has to better way to check out the PCS especially when I had a bad experience with it but fortunately turned out fine because of my evasive action which still should have given me at least a warning because it was so close

Miss my Subaru
Really thought Toyota Highlander would be an excellent replacement for our 2011 Subaru Outback. Other than styling and 3rd row seating it fails on all levels. Not confidence inspiring in snow and ice. Annoying radar cruise. Odd unintuitive controls. Weak engine. If I'd have known Subaru was coming out with an SUV with a 3rd row we'd be happy still.

Disappointing
While a highly rated car with much to recommend it, I am disappointed in my purchase. I purchased the car after owning a Nissan Pathfinder for 16 years. I was especially interested in all the new safety features. But they went way overboard in mediocre technology for the sake of going for a wiz bang effect. The auto high beam head lights are not particularly reliable and I had to disconnect that feature. The keyless entry combined with the auto engine switch off when stopped has caused me to not realize I still had the engine running when parked. This is truly a safety hazard that others have complained about. Many of the feature require the driver to take their eyes off the road to use. The garage door switch is right next to the roof light switch and I am constantly hitting that switch when I activate the garage door. You had better read and re read the owners manual if you want to use or shut off any of the technology. Nothing is intuitive. Your cell phone GPS is way easier to use than the unit built into the car. The ride is only ok. Not nearly as smooth as the 16 year old Honda or my wife’s 5 year old CRV. These are only a few examples of the multiple little annoyances in operating this vehicle. Many of the “features “ have no real use but they can charge more because they are there. So, if you are car shopping, take a look at the Toyota but look carefully. If I had it to do over again knowing what I know, I would probably buy something else and evaluate the technology operations far more carefully.

I love the roominess
It is a 7 seater which I need with a large family. We have grown children and they will fit in the third row. I love the dynamic cruise control and other safety features.
