2007 4 door long box

Extended cab 2 wheel drive long box. This truck was sitting on the lot at $38,000 and change I got it off the lot at $26,500. I have worked for a local Mercedes Dealership for a while and have driven cars worth up to $300,000 and none of them where anymore comfortable than this truck. It is scary fast.

Powerful truck; has some design flaws

I own a 2007 Toyota Tundra SR5 double-cab, long bed with the 5.7 engine. I have almost 7,000 miles in thirteen months. MPG: 14-15 city; 18-20 highway; 10+ pulling a 4600 pound trailer. My biggest complaint is that the instrument panel is deeply recessed and dimly lighted so that on very sunny days the instruments are very hard to read. The shiny black plastic around the radio controls shows the dust and needs daily dusting. The bucket seats seem too deep and the high side ridges make them uncomfortable. The driver's head restraint rubbed the back of my neck. Nothing I could do to adjust it solved the problem until...I swapped it with the rear seat head restraint; problem solved. Disappointed and frustrated that there is no key lock on the passenger's front door. Very inconvenient at times. License plate brackets front and back are missing. I had to drop the spare tire to properly bolt on the rear plates. The front plates were equally difficult to attach. There is a bothersome freeway bounce on some cement roadways that was not present on my previous non-Toyota 1/2 ton pickup. The "automatic limited slip differential" is nothing more than computer manipulation of the rear brakes when one wheel begins to slip; sort of a two wheel ABS system. The result is a horrendous, rapid, unpleasant and even alarming shaking of the vehicle. My previous non-Toyota 1/2 ton had a mechanical limited slip differential that worked very smoothly. I understand there is no dipstick for the transmission and the only place to buy the oil filter is from the Toyota dealer. The tailgate is so light it feels flimsy. These are irritating flaws in design. Overall the truck performs admirably with power and control. I bought it for the power and Toyota reliability. Since this was a first year model I did buy the extended warranty adding four more years to the coverage. I particularly like the tow mirror option; the daytime running lights option; surprisingly the sonor option (which I thought at first to be a waste but is very useful with a big vehicle like this longbed); and the slliding rear window. I'm 6'2" and there is plenty of headroom for me. There is a lot to like about this truck. Would I buy it again? After grumbling about the things mentioned above (hopefully they would be fixed by then) I probably would buy it again.

most reliable vehicle I'v ever owned

I'v owned everything from model A Fords to Cadillacs. This truck has been the best of all. I traded a Ford on the Trunda and have the best service with no runs to the dealer for warrenty work. The Ford was nothing but trouble, stalling in the middle of traffic several times and the service department couldn't find the trouble. No more big three for me. Transmission burned out at 40,000 mi and always small problems.

Would not recommend to a friend

I have a 07 and with 40,000 miles on it, I replaced the breaks on at once, The back bed bounces like crazy on the freeway and now the transmission at times snaps into gear, my gas mileage is poor around 15 miles per gallon Toyota has made it impossible to go to an auto parts store and purchase a oil filter it is a dealer item only along with the breaks , I'm seriously thinking of getting rid of this track

biggest disapointment

I have been a loyal Toyota owner for several years. Traded a 05 tacoma for the 07 tundra. Brought truck in for first service with complaints with transmission, brakes, and gps/jbl system, and a rattle in back doors. They found nothing wrong, at 10000 miles i now have a refurbished transmission, a refurbished gps/jbl, the factory rep drove my truck and said the brakes shuddered, and wanted to know what is loose in the back of my truck. When i purchased the vehicle all i heard about is the quality from toyota. After researching this i found out that toyota is well aware of these problems but has waited 9 months to fix mine. With all the refurbs in my truck I feel that i should have bought it off the used car lot. I would not recomend one of these or if you buy one get the longest warranty you can. Good luck

Expensive Junker

Have had my 2007 Tundra for almost one year. This truck is a waste of hard earned money. Bed bounce issue is major. Like riding on a skateboard. So far: rear bumper replaced(got by Toyota's famous quality control with a very apparent cosmetic defect), going in this Saturday to replace gas cap cover lid (won't close) and to replace the radio (can't adjust the volume). Transmission is now whining at 30,000 miles and clunks going from first to second. Rattles have started appearing everywhere and mileage, while good at the start, is now dropping quickly to below 15 MPG. All in all, I rated reliability high as it has yet to strand me on the freeway but purchasing this truck was a big mistake and is my first and last Toyota.

2007 toyota tundra

I have a tundra. It is falling apart. Heater burning smell, cats stink badly, seat adj. sticks, breaks 2nd time shaking on highway ,hesitating when going, dash off squeks like crazy ,window sticks can't get passenger down, allignment keeps going off, reamote works when it feels like it. I have had this six month and I hate it. They are no help fixing it. I'm trading it in!!! I know it will not pass emissions at a mechanic shop. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

Surprise of a workhorse yet family car too

I'm a landscape construction contractor and have 4 pickups, a chevy silverado a ford f 250 a 2006 Tundra and Now 2007 Tundra. Both Tundras are crew cabs w/4WD and the 4.7 v-8s. I load these trucks with full pallets of wallstone that weigh about 2300 lbs., the truck handles it with little sway and still brakes fine. The transmission noise one guy mentioned earlier is the truck using it's uncanny mechanical ability to slow itself down with some help from engine braking instead of using just the brakepads. Although I did have an extra leaf spring installed in the 2006 recently to handle the extra weight better and it works wonderfully, (only 4-500 $ to do well.) The cab is roomy enough to fit 5 big guys, (I have captains chairs in front, which allows for a huge storage console to have my computer, lunch and all estimate/moving office needs at hand in a jiffy. The back is roomy with with cupholders all over the cab and you can roll the back seats over into a flat surface if you need to. There are well thought out storage areas in every nook and cranny and you do not need to leave the key on to finish your computer work for 2 hrs, (after which the electricity shuts off automatically) when you use one of the many outlets within the cab. The truck has smooth and powerful acceleration even with the smaller v-8 instead of the 5.7. I get v-8 gas mileage. This is the only truck my wife feels able to drive by herself because it handles so car-like and has comforts to spare. I put 40,000 miles on the 2006 in 14 months and except for oil changes and a new lighter, I have yet to visit the dealer for any breakdowns. The sliding rear window goes down so we were able to put on some 18 foot 2x8's on the truck in about two minutes instead of having to climb up and carefully tie them over the roof, etc. It also feels like a convertable in the spring and summer with the back window down and a sun roof. With the crew cab and a long bed, it can be heck to park, but what do you want? The brakes on the 2007 are amazing and the 2006 was fine as it was. The hood is a bit high, but with the cameras, etc. you are covered there. From Harleys to Yamaha Roadstar, now From c-2500/F-250's to Tundras, (which R built in US!) Try it, you'll buy it.

Best Truck EVER!!!!

This truck is amazing!!!!!!!!!! Ive own chev's all my life had 5 of them in total. Tried the 2004 F-150 in 2004. Every one lose their power after about 20,00kms. If you drive any of those trucks hard they will brake down. I have 65,000kms on my 5.7 litre Tundra and its just as powerful as the day I bought it. I have a an 8,000 pound trailer that I pull with me on my trips and the Tundra pulls it no problem. I love this truck its comfortable and very easy to drive in tight areas. I will be a Toyota owner from here on out. Good luck Chev you have alot of work to do. Go Stewart!!!!!!!
