Best vehicle I’ve ever owned

At 6’6” and 270 lbs. it’s no easy to find a comfortable ride. The Atlas is everything I could hope for. It’s roomy side to side as well as providing me with plenty of leg and head room. The 3.6 liter 4motion provides plenty of power and the adaptive cruise control makes long trips enjoyable. Love VW’s.

Best car I’ve owned

Have owned cars from Jeep, Kia, Mercedes, and BMW. This one beats them all in all respects (save for gas mileage - the Kia Sportage was by far the best). The best three-rows car out there.

Great SUV

I have had this SUV for about two and a half years and 40,000 miles (SE Model with the Tech Package, V6 and 4Motion AWD). I have two very active kids and this replaced our Subaru Outback (was the first car in over ten years that wasn’t a Subaru). I have been extremely happy with this SUV. I will acknowledge some of the faults you see in reviews are there-the gas tank is too small, power is adequate but not great and the interior design is nice but has a lot of hard plastic. However, even despite these minor flaws, this is an outstanding SUV. The seats are all day comfortable and the amount of space is phenomenal. I took a bunch of college friends to a tailgate and we had room for all the coolers, etc and still had room for everyone. Third row space is great. This vehicle handles extremely well too. Coming home from a transatlantic flight through the Pocono mountains, a deer ran into our path while we were traveling over 50 mph. This SUV was remarkably composed through the hard swerve and I never felt the vehicle was unsettled. Most surprisingly for me however was how effective the 4Motion System was with the Snow and Off-Road Modes. The Atlas is far superior to my old Outback in the snow, and is far more effortless in climbing hills. Off-road it is an absolute Mountain Goat. I have taken the Atlas up steep and rocky, mud strewn trails in Conrad Weiser State Forest (PA) and have never been stuck. Admittedly I have off-road tires but still I have been able to go many places along with my buddy’s Jeep (to his great surprise)...you do have to be careful as this is a big SUV without skid plates and no low range but this will get you to places a Honda CR-V or Ford Explorer would not. All in all a great SUV at a great price.

In love with the exterior but not the handling

I test drove this car because I fell in love with the exterior of the Atlas. They're beautiful! However, as someone who loves to drive and admittedly loves to drive fast, I would not enjoy driving this car. It handles like a large truck and even sounded like a truck when I was driving it. I loved how much space there was in the interior, though.

Happy

Moving from an 8 passenger to this doesn’t feel too different. I still have tons of room. We can all fit in any row comfortably. Still figuring out the basics. It does jerk a bit or it could be me getting used to a very responsive pedal. I swear if I tap it the car jolts forward super fast as well as releasing the brake.

American Made Volkswagen Atlas

I have owned GM or Ford vehicle for the last 30 years and I have to say, this Volkswagen leaves them all in the dust. I traded my 16 Ford Explorer in on this and quality of the VW Atlas just shows how poor of a vehicle the Explorer is. If you are looking for an American made (Chattanooga, TN) vehicle this if the vehicle for you. The warranty alone was worth it, 72 months or 72k miles bumper to bumper.
