I love this car.
I love this car. I am absolutely heartbroken to have to get rid of it. I am currently experiencing a transmission issue that has Toyota on a multi-month back order for parts, and local shops unable to source the transmission at all. This is the nicest car I have ever owned. I brought my daughter home from the hospital in this car and would and have recommended it to anyone that would listen until recently. At 88k miles and a 45k sticker price I should not yet be waiting months for a 9-11k dollar transmission. I am not the only one experiencing this issue and expected more from Toyota. These need to be recalled or given an extended warranty. I buy Toyota for the reliability and customer service and am incredibly let down on this one.

Scary Drive
Scary ride on the highway with rain. Tires are not wide enough. Window noise when driving. Second row slides out and hits driver seat if not put back correctly. Compared to our 2019 Ford Explorer, the Highlander sucks.

Decent car for smaller drivers.
Bought this car for my wife new in 2019. We have 2 little ones. It’s a decent family car. But I am 6’3” 260lbs. This car isn’t designed for big and tall people. Seats are hard. Sun visor doesn’t cover enough of the side window and I end up with afternoon sun in my face. The climate control dials are slick and hard for me to grip to twist. Infotainment system seems dated. Cup holders suck. The adaptive cruise control rode the brakes down a hill and now it shakes when you apply the brakes (fixed now with new set of aftermarket rotors). Interior door panel squeaks when my leg rests against it. But overall it’s a decent car, just a little overrated. I’d say if it wasn’t for Toyota having a reputation for reliability I wouldn’t have bought it or kept it. I’d say if you’re over 6’ and this is your only car… pass.
