From start to finish I had a superior experience at Mullinax Ford New Smyrna Beach. I purchased a used car for my teenage son from Ryan Ortiz at Mullinax Apopka. It was a used car and so I didn?t believe it to be a high priority needing much attention from a salesman however Ryan treated me as a VIP from the beginning. He?s was straightforward, honest and educated me about the process. It was a simple transaction but I was impressed by his professionalism and knew I could trust his advice. As a result of this very positive experience, I knew that I would only consider buying a new car from the same person and the same dealership. Ryan Ortiz moved to Mullinax New Smyrna Beach and despite the distance from Orlando, I knew I'd make the trip there to purchase a new car. Ryan Ortiz and the team of professionals that he has created there have raised stellar customer service to another level entirely. This team of professionals should consider writing a book on how a car buying experience should be handled. I had been looking for a used 2015 Ford Fusion SE or Titanium with Navigation. I found a used 2016 at Mullinax New Smyrna with 38 miles that was the SE model with SYNC and NAV. Perfect for me. I was also trying to rebuild my credit after bankruptcy, so I offered to put half down and finance the rest. But if necessary, would pay in cash. According to their ad, the car was driven by a Ford executive. When we were about to leave the showroom with the car, it was discovered that there was only one key. How could that be if a Ford Executive had been the only driver and loose the key? The salesman told me that the keys were expensive. I asked him to order one. He said OK Subsequently, after we had the car at home, they contacted me twice for additional information. I gave them everything they wanted and each time asked about the key. I also called and left 2 voice messages and sent a text message asking if everything was OK and the key status. No response. When I called the third time, I spoke with someone who confirmed the financing was done and that he would look into the key. The salesman then sent me a text and asked me to send a picture of the key so that they knew what key to "order". What key to order? Are they the only Ford dealer without keys in stock? Why didn't they take a picture of the key when they had it in their hands and were looking for the missing key? Why did I have to ask three times? I wound up getting the key somewhere else. I will not be going back to Mullinax or recommend them. I am of the opinion that any car should come with two keys and that the buyer should not have to shell out almost $300 for another one. I am sure the cost to Mullinax is around $50. I keep my cars for 8-10 years and have all recommended service performed at the dealership. But it will not be Mullinax. I don't think I should have to ask questions and be ignored.
