Do not use this dealer - insists on their lenders
GM should remove all affiliation with this dealership. I should of known from the first time I walked in the showroom and no one asked me if I needed anything. I finally walked into a cubicle and asked if I could get a brochure. The person said they no longer have brochures and I could get the information on line. Then they walked away. The prices are good, then you get there and start the loan process. From the very first visit they continue to ask for you to use their lenders. When asked for the interest rate, they never gave an interest rate just “it could be 5% to 8%”. This was after knowing the credit score. They do not return calls. Could not get the sale price quote in a timely manner. Could not take a test drive because they would have to move too many cars to get the car you want to test drive out. There was a deadline on some discounts that was missed due to price quote delays and the salesman having the day off. Even so, I continued to try to work with Vaughn (I know, I know - not wise on my part) and it was absolutely the worst car buying experience I've ever had. I've owned more than 20 cars in my lifetime, so the experience of purchasing a vehicle is not new to me. What was new to me, was realizing that this Dealer does not make any effort to accommodate buyers or make a sale. The worst part was because I did not use any of their lenders, they would not release the vehicle until they received the funds. WHAT?? Yes, even though my nationally known bank’s “ letter of credit “, a legal document, guaranteed the loan amount. Vaughn was insistent that they would not release the car until they received actual payment. They do not require having actual payment from their lenders before they release the car. I asked them if their lender could match my banks interest rate and they said no. Most banks, of course, will not release funds without the proper paperwork to include being put as lien holder on a title. For several weeks, my bank went out of their way to develop some type of compromise, but Vaughn was insistent on having the funds first or using one of their lenders. I offered a HUGH downpayment of 30% of the price. After weeks of trying to find a compromise, Vaughn stated that they would not accept my bank’s letter of credit. WHAT? Vaughn then finally stated the only way to purchase the vehicle was to use one of their lenders. This is no way to do business. So in the end, "Vaughn Automotive" WILL NEVER get business from me again or whoever I know. Good luck to whoever goes and deals with them. Using this bullying tactic on using their lenders is unacceptable. This is what gives car salesman such a bad name and now I can see why. Remove the Vaughn car sticker and do not advertise for this dealership. We are also wanting to purchase a new truck in the coming year. I wouldn't return to this place for a free, fully loaded truck. Don't waste your time driving to this dealership, it's worth paying more money at another place. Do yourself a favor and keep looking. If you'd like to have a real, customer-oriented buying experience, then stay away from this place! Find another place to spend your money.

Sharon, We are sorry you were frustrated by your experience trying to buy a New Cadillac and we were unable to accept the titling requirement prior to payment from your out of state bank. Again we apologize for the frustration this caused. Thanks, Josh
It should not matter if the bank is "out of state". It is a financial institution that guaranteed the loan amount. As far as the titling requirement from the bank, they offered to get the car titled within 48 hours and the dealership would have their money with the same 48 hours. Again, you did not require these stipulations from lenders you chose. It is a fact that you refused to work with a viable customer and a financial institution outside your own lenders. Very bad business practice.
We are sorry for the frustration this has caused. Obviously we want to sell every vehicle we can but we did not feel comfortable with the requirement your bank in California had for us to get our funds. Thanks again for your feedback of your experience. Josh VanNess
As a follow-up on the horrible service received from Vaughn Automotive. I went to another dealership in Des Moines and the dealership went above and beyond to ensure we had an excellent experience. Everything was completely finalized within an hour - from start to finish. There was one problem with an authorization code, and they immediately took care of the problem. There prices were good and they ensured I received any incentives and discounts that was available. The interest rate on the loan was zero percent. In all my lifetime of buying cars, this, by far, was the greatest experience I have ever had. There 1st priority is the customer. Every employee that passed me asked if I needed anything. Des Moines is 2 hours from my home, but well worth the drive to get this top notch service. I encourage everyone I know to go to Des Moines - you won't regret it.

We called ahead after seeing two different vehicles we were interested in on the dealership website. The salesman, Mr. Shipley had both vehicles waiting for our test drives. Great service and saved us time. A good experience and a great vehicle was purchased.

BUYER BEWARE
GM should shut this place down. It's a disgrace. The prices are good, then you get there and start the loan process. Check your contract because "they forget to put what you asked for in there" although everything was clear in the paperwork. They will redo the app multiple times increasing your payments by hundreds and still screw you over. They call the next day and tell you that you owe more money to pay for a mistake they made on an order. I wouldn't even return to this place for a free, fully loaded truck. Don't waste your time driving to this dealership, it's worth paying more money at another place. I would never have service done here because the way the do business...it's likely they would try to use a lug nut as your oil plug and blame you for their ignorance, then charge you. Do yourself a favor and keep looking.

Jesse, Thanks for taking time to review your experience about purchasing a New Colorado on Saturday. We are sorry there was a miscommunication on the accessories you wanted to add to your vehicle and our original paperwork. When you started the loan process we did not include the upgrading from 17" aluminum wheels to 18" chrome wheels. Then we messed up by not adding 4 new tires to the quote due to the wheel size change. Changing wheel sizes is not a common thing for us but either way we should have not made the mistake. You were obviously very frustrated by us forgetting to add the $600 cost of the tires and didn't want us to add any of the accessories to the truck and you just wanted a refund. We refunded you all the money for accessories the same day you asked for it. Again sorry this frustrated you so much. Thanks for your business and taking time to review your experience with us. ZL1 Camaro
Best price on a 2019 LZ1 Camaro in the country. I drove 1,200 miles each way to trade in a vehicle for the Camaro. Everyone at the dealership was professional and nice from start to finish. I used to sell cars and this was the best new car purchase experience EVER!

The best car buying experience I’ve ever had
I wanted to thank you for all the time you spent actually helping me and my wife. Unlike other dealers that I tried to use. You actually went out and looked around trying to find exactly what we wanted. To bad what we really wanted and needed was on your lot the entire time. I love the way my wife and I where treated by you and the rest of the staff at Vaughn's. I like the no nonsense straight forward pricing, and the fact that you where not pushy and pestering me to try and get the sale. I will buy at Vaughn's again, and recommend it to anyone I know looking for a car.
