I recently bought a car at Lithia Dodge in Eugene and it was a very unpleasant experience. What bugged me the most was the $498 in fees. This includes $115 document preparation fee. Since you are already paying more at a dealership than buying privately, you’d think a service like this would be included or at least nominal. The worst thing was paying $82 (it’s more for more expensive cars) for the corporate activities tax. This was passed by a recent legislature because large corporations were not paying nearly their fair share of taxes in Oregon. It was designed to be paid by corporations, but Lithia charged me, basically having me pay their taxes. When I complained, Devin, apparently one of their finance guys, said if I didn’t pay it, they would send it for collection. It was the kind of arrogance and smugness that I remember when I first went to a car dealership back in the seventies. I guess not much has changed. Anyway, in the future I will first explore buying from a private party and save at least a couple of hundred in fees and probably get less attitude.

You can do better
Don’t give this place your business! I bought my truck cash plus a pricy warranty and have had nothing but issues. It took me 2 months to get into an appointment to have the car looked at and have waited another 2 months for them to tell me if the warranty will cover the work needed. They don’t return my calls and the guys are just rude unless they’re selling you something. Once they had money in hand the service was horrible and I was told I could take my warranty elsewhere. Save yourself the trouble.

Good to work with. They installed electric running boards for me and one was faulty but they was able to find me the part and get me goin that day with my new pick up

New truck owner
I appreciated that when I talked with the salesman he took into account my rough experience with a different dealership. He was very personable and took more time to really break down everything that was happening. Even with the lack of truck inventory nation wide right now he found a truck that was in my price range and what I wanted on it. I also appreciated the no haggling and 10 different salesman coming to try and make a deal. It was straight forward a price was made within reason and it was a yes or no answer. I appreciate that. It was a great experience.

Excellent Service Department
Seth at Lithia Service dept, was extremely helpful in getting my daughter's car in quickly and ready for travel. This included checking and changing her brakes, a transmission flush, oil change. He was in communication with her through out the day and the car was ready the same day and the quality of the work was top notch. I was extremely pleased in the professionalism and courtesy that Seth gave to my young daughter. It feels so good to be able to send her in for repairs on her older car, knowing that she will be treated with the same courtesy as they would to me. We will continue to use Lithia for our needs!

Patient and kind!
The sales associate that I worked with was wonderful! Brian Fisher. I contacted him in the morning before I left my home on the coast, to ensure that the truck I was interested in was still available. He was able to answer many questions over the phone, and when I arrived he was fully committed to giving me the best experience that I could have with such a big decision. He was very patient and friendly, and I never felt like I was being pushed to make a decision. He spent several hours walking me through the process, making sure that I was comfortable with all of my options and decisions. I will highly recommend him to everyone looking to buy!!

Pretty bad service department communication
Went in for a map data base update. Was charged $190.00 for an update on the Uconnect radio. I had just gotten an over-the-air update the month before. So I assumed the radio was up to date. After they "updated" the radio I was then told that that didn't update the map database and that would be another $150.00 for the maps plus $100.00 labor to perform the installation. I've been on the phone with Uconnect and the map people and have gotten absolutely no satisfaction. Uconnect initially told me I shouldn't have been charged for the radio update and to submit paperwork to them for a refund which I did and which subsequently was denied. So far I'm out almost $200.00 and still don't have an up to date map data base and my system is no different than before. The Uconnect system in these trucks/cars is nothing but a pain to have to deal with as convenient as they are. Next time I purchase a vehicle I think I'll look at Ford trucks and the system they have. I could also tell you about the time I went to Lithia for a factory recall repair. I waited months for the parts to become available and finally was able to take the truck in for the recall repair. Several hours later I was informed that part of the recall had been completed but I would have to return again as they didn't have all the parts necessary to complete the recall service. xxx? I'm not happy with Lithia one bit at this point.
