Bait and switch, at best, or possibly intentional
Bait and switch, at best, or possibly intentional dishonesty and lies at Mike Calvert Toyota on 610. I called today to confirm if a vehicle on their website was actually physically on the lot and available for a test drive. Salesman confirmed yes to both questions, and they had two such vehicles. When I arrived, there was a time-consuming, convoluted process of waiting for him, meeting his sales manager, answering questions about the type of vehicle I was interested in (already discussed with my request to drive a specific Highlander Hybrid). After hemming and hawing, he admitted they did not have a vehicle available to drive. It’s in the pipeline, but I could reserve it. Then he checked inventory and offered a used Highlander Hybrid to test drive, but continued with more questions, before revealing that it was actually a gas engine. After declining and expressing my dissatisfaction with the “bait and switch” tactics, and waste of my time, I said goodbye to the salesman and sales manager. I shortly after received a call from a different sales manager, saying they had a Highlander Hybrid on a remote lot, 1/4 mile away if I’d like to return and drive it. He offered to send a picture and bring the vehicle over, but on further inquiry, it turned out that it was a Grand Highlander (which we had discussed that I was not interested in), and also was under recall so it could only be driven in the parking lot. They all kept saying they wanted to be fully transparent, but they were anything but. I’ve left out names, because this behavior and disrespect clearly starts at the top. The only bright spot was a polite and efficient receptionist. I want nothing more to do with Mike Calvert Toyota, and I’m writing this review to warn other potential customers of their unethical behavior. Surely there are better places in the Houston metro to shop for vehicles and be respected as a potential customer by professional sales staff.

Just got played by this dealership.
Just got played by this dealership. They have a car posted on their website for what seems like a great deal. Of course it seems too good, but I expect to pay more than they're showing anyhow. However, spoke with them yesterday, gave them the stock number, they 'checked GPS' on it and said the car is indeed inbound, gave me the color of the interior and exterior (white and black), and asked when I could come by. Said they'd send me the spec sheet. Today I call back, they send me the spec sheet for a completely different car (same car, completely different colors) about 13k more than the car what they showed for the one on the website, and said, ohhh, well we don't actually have that car and it's not coming, but we can get this one and here's our 5k markup on it, along with no discount as was shown on the other car. They never had, nor were they ever going to get, the other car and they never intended to sell it for their listed price. All a complete ruse. SO THEN, the third day I submit an info request through CarGurus. They call me and say, the car IS ON THE LOT. Then say, oh, but it's green... Save your time. Nothing but lies from this dealership.
