New vehicle purchase was okay...warranty issue was unaccepta
Bought a new Ram from Bowie Ourisman CDJR several months back and it was an okay experience. The sales team did their job but they did input a few typos/misinformation during the purchase process which created minor headaches in the few weeks after with getting tags and the usual follow up items after buying a new vehicle. Overall the new vehicle purchase was a fine experience and there's not much to say about it here. Where there was a serious problem was with how their service manager handled an issue with a 2016 Cherokee that we have owned since new. This Jeep has had documented issues with burning oil since it was new. Due to the issue becoming increasingly worse we took it to Bowie Ourisman CDJR for an oil consumption test to see how much it was burning. The way this test works is you take the car in and they verify oil level and then they tell you to drive it for about 1,000miles. After the 1,000miles you bring the car back for them to check the oil and determine the exact amount burned. We followed their orders and drove the car, then brought it back. The problems arise from the fact that they overfilled the oil pan before the start of the test. Meaning when it was returned to be checked, if it read 1quart low, it would have in fact burned 2quarts in order to be that low on the dipstick. Based on the fact that it was overfilled beforehand, it would understate how much got burned at the end of the test. So after they checked the oil level at the end of the test they tried to get us to sign a piece of paperwork saying the engine is okay and that it cheked out just fine, within manufacturer standards. But we knew it wasn't burning at an acceptable rate because we were already consistently exhibiting engine issues (hard starts, sputtering, etc) due to low oil after we drove anything over 1,000miles with the car. The service manager told us there's nothing to complain about and that we should just check the oil every 1,000miles and fill it up when necessary and that would be acceptable in his mind! Long story short we are unsure why this dealership was so adamant about getting us to agree the engine was fine so we left immediately and took the vehicle to another CDJR dealership in Maryland. They performed a proper oil consumption test and sealed all the entry/exit points for engine oil so that nothing could be tampered with (Bowie did not do this). The second dealership's recommendation, after consulting with the manufacturer, was that a new engine was needed due to high oil consumption and it has already been replaced with a new engine at this dealership. This vehicle is the second biggest purchase aside from a house that we will make in our lives and we have years of payments left to make on it. The last thing we want is to be worrying about the health of the engine and oil levels when its not even 2years old. Let alone how bad the problem would become in the years to come. Needing to check the oil level on a vehicle 3to4 times between its scheduled oil change interval is not acceptable even if their service manager tried to explain otherwise! Another important note is that our first step was to email the dealership and try to resolve the issues but that went unanswered and we got no response out of them. Taking Ourisman Bowie CDJR's word on this vehicle would have saddled us with a problem in the future and it's a good thing we found another dealership that we can trust with our future business for our Ram and Jeep whether it's service/warranty work or any new vehicle purchases in the future.

Smooth sailing
We stopped in last year and saw Don and he explained everything at that time, but we were not in the position to purchase a new vehicle. We return this year and it was a delightful experience. Don was so patient with us and he made the deal become a reality. We appreciated his due diligence and we will send our family and friends to Don who are in the market for a vehicle. Professional, Honest & Helpful
As I was traveling some distance for this particular truck, we had made the purchase arrangements in advance via phone, email and text. Those contacts were straightforward and honest. No games. Monty was a pleasure to work with. Upon arrival, all we met were genuinely friendly. Young Spencer, full of friendliness and bounding with energy, had everything ready and helped prepare us for the final paperwork. I had a slight glitch on proof of insurance. Spencer contacted my insurance agent (at 8:00 PM) to get the proper documentation. Finishing the paperwork was a good experience. Additional purchase options were made clear and explained without any undue pressure to buy. Lauren was professional, helpful and even fun. My wife (who absolutely hates accompanying me to a dealership) was relaxed and enjoyed the experience with Lauren as well. We are not connected with this dealership at all as we are 110 miles away. Furthermore, I'm an old guy who has bought a few vehicles in the past. Having said that, this is a place you want to visit when buying. You'll see when you get there. Then make your own assessment.
