They sold me a car that cannot pass safety inspection,

They sold me a car that cannot pass safety inspection, wires coming out of both front tires, front brake rotors worn beyond the minimum to pass, and a wiper motor that only goes one speed. Not only that within 500 miles the crankcase position sensor died. They advertise low prices, but then charge exorbitant dealer fees well above customary for the state, they’ll also try to slip a warranty and GAP into the offer without informing you or even pitching it first. Avoid this place at all costs. They don’t even let you negotiate price with your salesperson, just send you straight to the F&I person who dresses as slimy as the “deals” he proposes.

Let me start this off on a positive note.

Let me start this off on a positive note. The young sales guys was very personable and helpful. I could tell he was new but he was pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately, once I decided that I wanted to purchase the car everything went sideways. While I wasn't 100% satisfied with my purchase with the payment I wound up leaving with, I was happy to be in a car that has been my goal and dream since selling my '88 mustang. After 2 months of ownership and some rain I noticed a good amount of water in the trunk. Did some research online and saw other people had a similar issue on their cars and figured I would take it to a body shop to get it fixed, since it seamed more like a manufacturer issue. Weeeeel, not so much. Turns out the accident that was posted as "minor damage" on the CarFax I was provided was not minor at all. The frame is bent, the floor pan is crinkled and whoever did the work to "fix" it did the least amount of work to get it back on the road. Looks like $15K+ of work to get the car back on the road and safe. Now I'm stuck with a car I can't drive after 2 months because I don't have that kind of money lying around and I still have to pay every month for something I can't enjoy. I tried calling a number of times with no answer I even used their contact form on the website and just got a generic email back with links to vehicles that I definitely wasn't looking for. With all this said, looking back at my experience after working with the sales guy, I felt rushed and pushed into purchasing the extras that I probably should have just said no to. Also, I felt like I was being bullied in to writing a positive review on their Google search entry for the business. The guy wouldn't give me the keys until I wrote a positive review! Didn't think anything of it in the moment but looking back it was pretty fishy and bad practice. Currently, I can't send anyone to this place to purchase a car. If they do get back to me and make this right I may change how I feel but, right now, I can't give a higher rating. Honestly, just steer clear of this place.

I would give zero stars if that was an option.

I would give zero stars if that was an option. Please save yourself from dealing with these scam artists. The vehicle sale price will increase by thousands with their 'mandatory warranty'. Still haven't resolved my outstanding issue since November. Sal "supposedly a man of his word" has not kept his word. No one returns calls, they even have a complaint extension when you call.

Please don’t buy a car from these people!

Please don’t buy a car from these people! Straight scam. I bought a dodge caravan that looked excellent on the outside and interior. Luckily they dropped the ball on taking my initial down payment. By which they tacked on thousands of dollars more than the asking price. Took the car home and within the first day the transmission was slipping terribly and the check engine light was on. I told them I don’t want the car and left it for them to pick up. They was giving me every excuse in the world on why it was a good car and it just needs a few easy fixings, trying to convince me to keep the car. Not realizing I haven’t given them a dime yet and i was over it. Only loss was my time in which they had me in there then entire day for this lemon. Stay far away from these people they are a prime example of shady car dealers!!!

Bait and Switch Pricing.

Bait and Switch Pricing. Mandatory, hidden dealer fees (not state fees) increase the sales price by a minimum of $3000 over the advertised price. Here's a sample that I was presented with: $1100 transportation fee, $899 dealer documentation fee, $899 for some anti-theft tracker, $799 for a dealer protection package (useless in my case), and a few other charges of over $500. The price that was advertised and promised by the salesperson by text in advance of my visit was $28,795. If I wanted to buy the vehicle, the actual sales price would have been over $33,000 before tax and tags. I told the salesperson I didn't want to drive several hours if I didn't know the sales price first. He assured me it would be the $8,795 advertised price. After some additional, after-the-fact research, I found that this is the normal sales practice for the Excel Auto Lounge.

Beware!

Beware! I found a vehicle on Cars.com and made an appointment to come see it. I communicated with a person to schedule a precise date and time to see an SUV. Since I was coming from Europe I wanted to make sure that everyone was on the same page, as i had a limited amount of time. I arrived in a rental car from NYC (2 ½ hours away), with all the necessary papers and account info to buy the vehicle if it was as advertised. Upon arrival, no one seemed to be aware of my appointment, even though I had communicated with the point person that very morning, confirming the details, car, time, etc. I asked for the point person, and the desk advised me that he didn't work there, he was somewhere else and only scheduled appointments from internet inquiries. They asked me to wait a minute and they would find an available salesman to help me. After a short time a young man approached me. He was very softspoken and I couldn't hear him at all, due to a playlist of Christmas songs being chimed into the showroom at very high volume. He didn't introduce himself, he just asked what I was looking for. I gave him the history of my interest and appointment. He said he would go get a laptop and check. He came back and asked which vehicle I was interested in. He said he would go check if the car was ready. In the meantime he directed me to scan a qr code and fill in an application. I got the application on my phone, but since I didn't know the salesman's name, I couldn't fill out the form because you had to first list the referring salesman. I sat for at least 15 minutes when the young man finally came back. Sitting across from he told me that he thought the vehicle was sold. I asked again to make sure we were talking about the same car, since the holiday music was still blasting through the sound system and the salesman was still speaking very softly. I was, to say the least, frustrated, and I told him that even though he was unaware, I had made an appointment, with the internet-tasked person, and had several calls and SMS to back it up. He excused himself and said he would have another look. I waited for about 20 minutes, and he returned and said, “Your car is waiting outside.” I walked behind him and when we got outside (where there was no blasting music) I asked him if it was the same car. He seemed to not know, so I asked him why he had told me that it was already sold. He told me that since there was a “sold” sign on the car, he assumed it was unavailable. Since the young man didn't seem to have any idea what was going on, I asked him to please let me see the person in charge. I needed to get all my ducks in a row and find out if they were being straight with me or if this were a case of getting me through the door to show me something else. The young man showed me to a desk, situated about 5 feet above the floor and furnished with three open computer screens so it was impossible to see any human above the desk top. I finally went around to the side of the desk and saw a person, and asked what was going on, telling him of the arrangements I had made. I asked his name and he replied, “Sal.” Then he cut me off immediately, playing dumb and being extremely condescending. Each time I tried to start explaining or ask a question, he continually cut me off. The music, needless to say, was still blasting, and from aggravation my voice continued to get louder. Finally, the man behind the desk said, with an abhorrent nasty ring to his voice, “Where did you buy your last car?” I told him the town and he cut in, “You can go there and buy a car from them, they'll be glad to help you.” I would advise anyone looking for a car to please skip seeing anything at Excel Auto Lounge. No one should be subjected to the humiliation of dealing with this hideous concession – the best deal on the best car is not worth the embarrassment!

Run away from this car dealership!

Run away from this car dealership! Took a train from CT to New Jersey to buy a car that I liked. When I got there, they wouldn’t sell it to me unless it’s financed through their bank. Plus they added all the additional fees for services that I that I didn’t want or asked for. Also, they don't tell you any of the cost of it in advance. I told the salesman that I could get a pre-approval from Capital One in one minute just with a soft inquiry on my credit. He said that they work with Capital One and that they can give me the same thing, but no. They ended up doing a hard inquiry on my credit without my approval, and I repeated many times no, I do not want a hard inquiry on my credit. To make me feel better I guess, the finance guy told me you can dispute it. The website has two prices: regular price and discounted one if you finance with the banks they work with. BUT They did not sell me the car for the regular price they had listed online + state tax, title and registration. So, your dealership should be named: crooks and finance only car sales!

Walked in and our sales associate couldn’t even tell me

Walked in and our sales associate couldn’t even tell me what the trim of the car was. They tried to sell us a car with warped and rusted rotors and the need for new brake pads and tires. We were promised this would be taken care of in addition to a customary detailing so we stayed. What they won’t tell you until the financing process is that they add an additional $12,000 in “accessories” that they could only negotiate down to $6k (but we were told none were negotiable at first). Mind you, this is on top of $3k in state taxes and fees. They didn’t let us take the car for outside inspection and couldn’t give us a copy of their “detailed inspection” of the vehicle because they “couldn’t find it”. Wasted 4+ hrs of my life and writing this so you don’t waste yours. One thing I will give them is that the management is incredible at rephrasing them ripping you off to make it seem like they’re doing you a service!

Victoria and Brandon were an excellent sales team.

Victoria and Brandon were an excellent sales team. When there was delay in getting necessary bank and insurance information to complete the sale, Victoria was very patient and helpful in seeing the transition to the end. All questions about the vehicle were answered promptly and completely. When I raised one concern, she arranged for the service department to address it post-closing by scheduling an appointment.
