I had a very good experience working with Service

I had a very good experience working with Service Advisor, Zach C. during repair of my Subaru Outback. He worked with the service technicians to research and explain to me the problems, which subsequently helped me understand the repairs that needed to be done.

I had been doing a significant amount of car research

I had been doing a significant amount of car research between three models of Subaru (Forester, Outback and Impreza). I test drove cars from Matthews, Maguire, and attempted at Simmons Rockwell ready to purchase. The following is to give perspective of what I now consider, "A Matthews Level of Quality", where every aspect of the Matthews brand blows their competition out of the water: Simmons Rockwell Hyundai Elmira- Despite multiple attempts to see if Simmons Rockwell had two Foresters on their lot (there were only stock photos and very little detail) I received zero communication. I had my information taken twice between three sales reps, left a voicemail, and was promised to be contacted within 10 minutes with answers only to be completely left in the dark. Maguire of Ithaca- The Subaru dealership and the neighboring Dodge dealership (acting as Subaru overflow lot) were fine. My positive takeaway was that we did not discuss finances until I wanted to bring it up. I was given sound advice about financing lightly used compared to a new vehicle, inflation, the economy and upcoming interest rates, etc. I was hassled about wanting to test drive without their sales rep- questioned why I would want to do something like that. Later, my interest in being contacted about new arrivals to their lot was not taken seriously. I asked for an update on price once they had a Forester Sport added to the system, but never heard back. We arrive at Matthews. I actually started here but at the Schenectady branch where I was in contact with Jordan Swiridowsky, a personal shopper. They answered all questions about an Impreza on their lot, sent updated pictures, was prompt, professional and a pleasure to work with. The car was sold before I could make it out there, but I am appreciative of their efforts. Now the Vestal Matthews both Planet Preowned and Old Vestal Rd- First, Planet Preowned where I worked with Andy Husch. Not realizing updated dealership hours because of New Years Eve until I noticed most sales staff leaving, Andy showed me patience, professionalism and service one would expect from a great experience. I almost finalized with the car he showed me but that night, after leaving the preowned lot, I decided to check Old Vestal Rd for one more inventory look through where I found my Forester. I set up an appointment for the next business day. After a prompt response from Mariah I asked to work with Bill Allen (family referred) for this location. The car was ready to be tested and Bill ready to answer all questions. His sales style is relaxed and not pushy. He answered every single question I had about Subaru systems plus more. I thought I knew more than an average buyer but he gave me such a wealth of advice and information about the car and the process that I knew I was finally ready to buy. Every single step of the way Bill ensured a pleasant buying experience and has set a new standard for car buying. I had a fantastic experience and can't speak highly enough of the Matthews team. Professionalism and clear prompt communication are the biggest aspects. Thank you! Additional fact: I just learned that Bill or any other sales rep in the Vestal area can work with you at ANY of the other nearby locations. That doesn't happen at other dealerships that I know of. Matthews is so good at what they do the competition isn't even playing the same game.
