I purchased three cars from these guys in the last couple of years. Each of the vehicles where in great shape and any issues that I found even two months after I bought the car they fixed it without any problems. Their sales staff isn't pushy and will help you find the car that you want. Their pricing is a little wierd because they don't post it. But they will work to make the cars fit your schedule. All in all these guys are great and will treat you right.

I have bought many cars from FRB and have had nothing but superb service from them. From loaner cars to sales and usage of pick ups when needed. Butch goes the extra mile to help his customers and is a pleasure to deal with. I highly recommend them.

Twice now, Fairly Reliable Bob's has come to my rescue! The first time my car was "broken" and that very day they came and towed it for me at no charge, picked me up, and had me in a new vehicle that night. The second time I was hit by another driver. They not only helped me with my car purchase but took on my insurance company and obtained a better settlement offer for me. Both times the vehicles have been in excellent condition, the prices fair and comparable to others in the area. I've checked both Edmund's and Blue Book and Fairly Reliable Bob's prices fit right into both companies suggested used car values. I found ALL employees that helped me to be courteous, friendly and honest. However, Butch went over and beyond the normal limits in order to get me a beautiful car that I love and a workable price that I can afford. I will never, ever go to any other dealership. Fairly Reliable Bob's has earned my trust and my loyalty. Thank you all for looking out for me and making what could of been miserable experiences easy, rewarding, and simply wonderful!

No surprise...every review I typed up for this place...

No surprise...every review I typed up for this place mysteriously disappeared. It's one thing to be dishonest and sell a car you know is a xxx to a mother who needs a reliable source of transportation for herself and her children. It's another level of sliminess to go and have every review she wrote to let others know not to make the same mistake removed. I don't know what fib they told the websites to have my reviews removed, but I will not go down quietly. These sales guys were perfectly nice until the number crunching came about. As others have stated, they overprice even over KBB by at least 20%. They will say whatever it takes to get the sale, regardless of the truthfulness. They will sell you a car they have had on the lot for over a year because it has so many electrical issues it has prevented previous sales. They will use every cover up trick in the book to make the seating material and paint job look phenomenal. Two to three months after your purchase, don't be surprised to see large areas on the car where you suddenly have no paint or damage to the seats that was not previously visible...especially if it's leather. I made it very clear to these guys that I was in need of a dependable vehicle for hauling around two young children while attending BSU full time. They sold me the biggest lemon on the lot and they knew it. At a parts only, discounted price with my mechanic, I still spent as much as the cost of the vehicle on trying to trace down the electrical issue that would cause the car to die while driving down the road or not start at all. It turned out to be a simple ground issue. They had the car for over a year and never bothered to figure this out. They would rather make a profit then be honest any day of the week. Drive or walk right on by and don't waste your time with dishonest bob's. My review was not the only negative one to disappear, so be wary of the positive ones being legit.

Fairly Reliable Bob's has goal of complete satisfaction with every customer. Both our inventory and our employees are held to high standards to achieve this. Our vehicles have to pass a rigorous inspection before they are offered for sale to the public. Our inspection consists of structural examination and both a mechanical and cosmetic inspection. This is performed both by our staff and with a 3rd party to sure of a good result. We make every effort to have vehicles both we and our customers can rely on. We endeavor to employ honest and hard working sales people that share our view of customer satisfaction. Our accounting, service and reconditioning staff all work together to achieve a positive result with every transaction. We do however sell used cars. Even with the best of inspections problems can occur. To help with this our service department is open to all of our customers @ a discounted labor rate as well as getting parts and accessories @ our wholesale cost with no mark up. We also offer free loaner vehicles. We would willingly participate in a repair if it were something pertaining to the safety of the vehicle or an obvious oversight by our reconditioning staff. In this case we were not afforded that opportunity. With out knowledge of the problem, we have no way of providing a solution. The vagueness of this review implies malicious intent and is not an accurate view of how we have conducted business since 1975.

THE MOST DISHONEST CAR DEALERSHIP IN BOISE. Here are...

THE MOST DISHONEST CAR DEALERSHIP IN BOISE. Here are the facts: Red Flag #1: They do not have prices on their vehicles. They will NOT tell you the price of any vehicle until they are writing up the paperwork. Why would a dealership not list any prices? Red Flag #2: They claim the Kelly Blue Book values are meaningless. Their vehicles are priced 25% higher than the HIGH Retail Blue Book values. Really? Every honest dealership I have ever spoken with knows about the Blue Book Values. Red Flag #3: They tried to sell me a vehicle that was unsafe. The back seat of the vehicle wasn't even attached to the car!! Their response? "Mistakes happen." Mistakes happen?!? How about, "We are very sorry, let us resolve this right away." If you don't care about wasting money, if you don't care about your family's safety, and if you don't mind working with dishonest people, Fairly Reliable Bob's is the perefect place for you.

Fairly Reliable Bob’s does not advertise price on line or visibly on our vehicles. We believe price is an important part of the decision making process but not the most important factor. It is our goal to have quality vehicles that are a great value, not the cheapest price in town. However, our prices are no secret. Our sales staff will happily share all pricing @ anytime during the sales process. We price our vehicles competitively. We take into consideration Kelly Blue Book, NADA Guide, as well as current market conditions. Book values are great guides, but they are just that, guides. No book can keep up with the quickly changing market conditions and the endless variables between each used car in the market. As a result, there are occasions when our prices will be below book value and occasions where they will be above. We do not sell vehicles that are unsafe. Every effort is made to make sure our vehicles meet high standards of safety and reliability. In this case the seat was not unsafe. However, one seat bolt was loose and the problem was rectified right away. The issue of safety in this issue was operator error installing a child seat. The Better Business Bureau reviewed this account and found no fault in how Fairly Reliable Bob’s conducted business, or in our efforts to come to a resolve with this customer. We are very proud of our staff and their efforts. We will continue to employ honest, loyal, hard working individuals. As of June 2011 our employees have an average time of employment of 10.4 years!

Initially, the sales staff was pleasant and helpful. As I asked more questions, however, they became increasingly short and unfriendly. The Subaru Outback I drove had an obvious problem (the defroster blew a film of crud on the windshield), when I pointed it out they were incredulous and blew me off. After driving another vehicle I told them I would come back the next day with my wife. I wanted to buy from these guys! Don’t ask me why. The next day we drove one car and came back smiling, asking to drive another. The salesman was unfriendly, in fact, hostile – telling us to go somewhere else and come back when we found something so he could match the offer. I was baffled, my wife was furious. We went to Peterson’s auto and bought a beautiful BMW 330i with a factory warranty. That salesman was friendly, patient and cool. Avoid Fairly Reliable Bob’s – classic crooked used car salespeople. If the positive review wasn’t posted by them, well, come on folks. Since our encounter I’ve found that the experience was not unique. I don’t know how they make money.

Fairly Reliable Bob’s works hard to employ honest, enthusiastic and service oriented sales staff. When an employee is found to fall outside these criteria they are terminated. The salesperson involved in this instance is no longer with Fairly Reliable Bob’s. We would like to apologize for the lack of professionalism that you experienced. We would only ask that you would in the future visit us again to see why we have been in business since 1975. Come and see why nearly 70% of our business comes from repeat customers and their referrals.

Corvettes from.....Fairly Reliable Who???????? ...

Corvettes from.....Fairly Reliable Who???????? Several months ago, I spent $46,000 on a 05 convertible Vette from the dealer known as "Fairly Reliable Bob" here in downtown Boise. After several months of owning this car I've had numerous problems with it that should have been taken of before the vehicle was sold, I find the dealership disgraceful in their practices of conducting business. The major issue that concerned me is that the vehicle I purchased was so badly out of alignment (although it drove ok)it scrubbed the front tires down to the steel belt on the front two and wore the rear ones bald, I brought this to their attention and found out how "Reliable" they really are..NOT! ..This was a life threatening issue.. like they cared. Bottom line is, if you are in the market for buying a used vehicle, I would avoid this place like the plague. there's too many good used car dealers out there that will stand behind what they sell, this place isn't one of them. Among other issues, I needed to have major transmission work done on this Vette by a reputable dealer after only 3,000 miles, it just get's worse from there.. don't buy from these grease xxxxxxx! they are the brunt of "used car salesman jokes" Graham

I went here expressly looking for a sports car, good place to start since they sell the most Corvettes in Idaho. I told them I wanted something light, fun, and rwd. Mike tried to sell me a Prelude which might be one of the above if you know nothing about driving. Denied their first offer and had to come back a second day. Butch helped me through things and we came to an agreement. Nobody was unfriendly but the service was that awkward-dealership-smiley-I-want-your-commission type of service. In reality, I had to find and sell the car to myself. They just happened to have it on their lot. Wasn't a Corvette (I respect myself) but go their if that's what you're looking for. Likely less pressure than most dealerships and they do a lot for the community. Atleast that's what the plaques said. I would recommend a private party everytime. And do your research everytime you're buying a car. Oh, and if you buy you are a permanent member of their mailing list, you'll need to buy another trash can.
