 customers (company employees, as it turns out).

Invites posted to the web said remarks will begin at 9 p.m.

Tesla has announced the addition of new service vans, centers and 
 technicians ahead of the launch of its Model 3.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has tweeted that Model 3 passed regulatory 
 requirements early and that the first 30 deliveries will be July 28.

Tesla confirmed that a software update will roll out starting today to vehicles with the second generation of its Autopilot hardware.

Smaller Model Y SUV coming in late 2019 also will require a new Tesla 
 assembly plant.

When Tesla sells its first Model 3 in July, the sedan won't come in myriad 
 configurations like the pricier Model S and Model X.

A report on a leaked comparison chart indicates fewer than 100 Model 3 
 combinations versus more than 1,500 for Model S.
