Best driving feel in a crossover
I currently have a 2020 Explorer Platinum. It’s an excellent all rounder, with only a few quirks that annoy me. Interior: The seats are very soft, easy to get in and out of, and rejuvenating with the optional massage seats. I’d like to have more tilt and height adjustment to dial down my driving position without obscuring gauge cluster. Car is almost silent under regular driving conditions. Technology: Co-Pilot assist 360+ was a major buying point for me. The lane centering locks you in your lane perfectly. Fights above it’s weight class matching Mercedes adaptive cruise plus. Intelligent speed cruise could be improved to have different tolerances for different speed limits. Performance: The 3.0L Ecoboost pulls smoothly and rapidly off the line. The transmission is intelligent and remarkably quick shifting and bests any other auto I’ve driven. Knowing the transmission can handle 650 lb ft of torque and is used in a myriad of applications gives me peace of mind reliability wise. The RWD based AWD makes this car feel balanced in corners with great steering feel. The weight distribution has this handle more similar to a 5 series BMW than an Expedition. Exterior styling: 4/5 because the interaction between the grill and headlights is awkward. Would have liked radically new styling for the new platform, but it’s still a handsome car. Value: 59k for mine, a lot of money, but this is a lot of car. It exists in a place where a similarly equipped Mercedes GLE 450 or BMW X40i is 15k more than Platinum Explorer, and the Telluride is 12k less. I think the added cost is worth it if you value driving dynamics and don’t overvalue German brands.

First time owning an Explorer
I have only had the Explorer for 2 days and so far very pleased. It is easy to park, plenty of room behind the third row for groceries, handles well in town and on the highway.
