Think 2x about it
My biggest complaint about this truck is the one reason you would even need a p/u for---performance. The horsepower is terrible. For years my pop owned 1 after another and he always noticed how much it struggled to either speed up, tow, or how it drags. I finally had the sense to look up the features and realized its because of low horsepower which is what youll need either at home or work at time. Better to have it when you need it than not to. Yeah, its a nice little pickup, wont give you much problems w/ proper maint., if your just looking to carry a couple 2x4's in it then go for it, but if you need it for miscellaneous jobs around the house --trash, furniture, sheetrock, or any weight whatsoever, i recommend you go full size pickup.

2000 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 Extended cab
Gas mileage is terrible. I got 14mpg when I bought the truck, added a high flow air filter and now get 15.5 mpg. Anyway, all around good truck for the money. This truck will take a beating and keep on going.

Great Little Machine
I love this little truck it has great milage. I also love the fact that it can handle so much its only got 89000 miles on it and still truckin. I only had to have a oxeygen censer replaced other then that no mechinal problems. When the time comes to get a new vehicle it will defently be a ranger.

Great Little Truck
I bought this truck off my dad in 2001, it is a Supercab, 4.0L 4X4 off road model. I put some bigger tires on it, and I still get 18 to 20mpgs regularly with it. I have 125,000 miles and counting on it. Here is a list of everything I have replaced on it: 1. Spark plugs 2. Spark Plug wires 3. Brakes 4. Ball Joints It has never left me stranded, never had a mechanical failure of any type. It pulled a trailer with 3 ATVs on it over 250 miles without a hiccup on several occasions. I am in the market for a new car, probably a Mustang. I am going to keep the Ranger and drive it in the winter. Why get rid of a truck that has been so good to me? Complaints: I am 6'4" and leg room could be better. I would have liked a better stereo.

Best Ranger ever..
The 2000 Ford Ranger 4x2 with the 2.5L 5 speed manual was a great buy, and still is. The new rangers are ugly and do not have a chrome front grille. Ford needs to redesign the Ranger in many ways! The front end is Hideous the interior is very uncomfortable and the tail lights arent that pleasing either. The 2000 ranger is by far the best ranger that has ever been produced! Besides normal maintenance, I have not had any problems with this truck. The only problem is the availability for aftermarket parts and sometimes having to wait on parts from the dealership. Thankfully these parts were not crucial at the time of service.

Mini F-150
I was skeptical when I bought it to replace my 4.3L Chevy, but my Ranger has never let me down. I used it on the streets in Ohio, and have beat it up out in the National Forest here in Arizona. The 4.0L V6 is powerful enough to do anything you could want to do with a compact truck and then some. Wish I had the 4WD just because of the massive Flagstaff snowfalls.

Unbreakable little truck!
I own a 2000 Ranger supercab 2wd with the 3.0L and a manual transmission and i love this truck! I have made this into a street truck lowered with a sport suspension and i have torn the heck out of this truck racing it and burning on the clutch and its at 90K miles and still starts right up like brand new and drives like it too! I have never seen a truck take such a beating and show not a single little sign of wear with 90K miles. I also have a 97 ranger with the 3.0 stick with 125K and it runs like a champ too. GREAT little trucks!!!

My Little Black Truck
Best truck I think I'll ever own. First vehicle I've ever had. Never let me down, ever. Always started without a problem. Extended cab definitely a plus. Really hate to sell her now, but I need to upgrade to full-size. Gas mileage could be better, but for the power, it is considerable. Very durable truck and is good off-road. Used it for light off-roading and handles whatever I tried to climb. I know it is a mistake getting rid of it, but I need full-size, definitely sticking with Ford.

Treating me well
Rarely in the shop. The OHV 4.0L V6 is torquey enough to pull small trailers, and gets me decent mileage for a 4X4. I would recommend looking at a 2001 and newer model with the SOHC 4.0L. My brother has an '03, and not only is it much quicker than my '00, but it gets 3 mpg better.
