Never Again

I got the 4 cylinder without leather. I went to the dealer for a oil change and was told that I needed to have my brakes changed with less then 18,000 miles. I was shocked to hear the new much as I paid for the car. I think that honda should let people know about the brake problem when they buy the cars. I am on my 4th Honda but would think twice before buying another Honda and now that I have read other people reviews about the breaks now is the time to get rid of it before it cost me a arm and a leg.

Replace rear brakes every year?

It is my first Accord. I got this 2008 Accord EX-L in September 2008. Well, since 09/2008 I was at Honda dealer more than 10 times because of brake problems. At less than 3000 miles front brakes started to squeak and dealer did numerous repairs. They replaced front and rear brake rotors, front brake calipers with no luck. Finally, I've found that Honda released a service bulletin on Dec. 12 2009. So, I went to the dealer and they replaced defective brake pads with some new-advanced... Two weeks ago it has started to squeak again! Well, at 18000 miles I had to replace rear brakes pads because they were worn out completely. Honda was "nice" to me and split the price for this repair with me (still under the manufacturer warranty). Remote key stopped working after 6-7 months. What else? Oh! The gas mileage is pretty bad. Mine Accord has "high power" I-4 (2.4L/190HP) engine and while it makes 22MPG (city) and 25MPG (highway) the engine feels weak and acceleration is slow. To compare, I have 1992 Mazda protege (1.6L/110HP), which is much faster. Overall... Think good before you will buy Accord 2008. If you feel like paying $300 each year for rear brakes is not a big issue and squeaking front brakes don't border you at all I will wish you a good luck. Otherwise look for something else.

Don't buy this first year model change care

Just warning everyone not to buy the 2008 Accord. This is a new model year car and there are issues with the rear brakes. Honda designed the car with a new electronic brake distribution system that applys more pressure to the rear brakes during stopping. However, they didn't take this into account and the rear brakes prematurely wear. I had to replace the rear brakes on my 2008 Accord at 19K miles. Just Google this issue and you will find it is a design flaw.

Road Noise

I bought the 4 cylinder with leather. I have noticed that it sounds like a tin can compared to my daughters Nissan Versa. It seems like they left the sound insulation out of the car. I'm getting more and more disappointed with the car. The 4 cyl. feels like a 4 cyl. We had a Camry with a 4 cyl. several years back and it was very smooth and quite. I'm just coming up on 20k miles, and I'm reading that a lot of folks are having problems with the brakes. It's something I'll have to watch. Again, I'm rather disappointed.

Love this Car

Bought this car for commuter car but wanted to have some speed too (last car BMW 330). I have V6 version, Manual and this car is fun to drive, comfortable, with descent gas mileage and I've have had NO mechanical issues Made the car perfect with some upgraded speakers and tint.

dont buy this car

I have the 2008 Accord and it now has 40000 miles on it and is on it's 3rd set of back brakes. The Honda Corp will not admit there is a problem but this is so not normal. Thinks twice and read about the complaints on the internet before you buy.

Replace rear brake

If you want to replace rear brake pads every 18000 miles buy this car if not I would recommend a Camry SE.

Honda Fan

Both I and my husband have driven Hondas for most of our lives. Historically, they have been VERY reliable. I recently switched from a Nissan to a Honda and I am a bit sorry I did. The rear brakes had to be done at 17,000 miles! My father owns an american car and had his first break job at 50,000 miles. My driving is not that unusual. I believe there is a problem with the Honda breaks and they should look into it.

Terrible Rear Breaks!!!

This is my second Honda car purchase! First accord fuly loaded was excellent, therefore I decided to purchase accord (2008), aprox after 18,000 miles I had my rear break pads replaced & now at 36,000 miles I had to replace once again. I find this to be ridiculous since this car is not even two years old, most used in highways & usually park in a garage. I personally think Honda should really look in this problem b/c it has definetly been costly for me.
